Opinions vary. Some think this will all blow up horribly in their faces, others that they will be endgame.

There have been A LOT of mentions of babies in conjunction with the two of them this season, so there have also been some speculation that Jessa might end up pregnant.

I hope they make it, because they really do seem to bring out the best in each other.

Anything with Snoke, full stop. Even the ones I thought of initially (Reylo... and all the other resistance/first order pairings) I like given the right setup. But Snoke I just do not wanna think about that way. XD

Why so little Rey/Finn?

(Anonymous) 2016-03-21 03:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I was wondering why there was so little Rey/Finn (405 fic on Ao3 compared to 1270 Rey/Kylo or 2126 Poe/Finn): I personally ship Poe/Finn but I thought Rey and Finn were adorable together in the film. I know many people -including me- aren't into reading or writing het ships but since Reylo is so popular...is it because Rey/Finn might be canon and is thus not as interesting?
I just want more fanfic/fanart about these two ;w;

Help in finding a fic

Hi, does anyone have a link to the fic where Ben Solo was hooked up on the machine inside the finalizer? Then Hux finds him and finds out Snoke is crazy?

-shrug- I have seen people argue is too vanilla and fluffy, but so is Stormpilot. As you said the het or Rey as ace argument is questionable considering Reylo's popularity. I guess people might prefer them as more friends, but the Finn & Rey tag isn't that much active either and I don't see a lot of gen stuff for them (that isn't background for another Finn or Rey ship).

There's also the obvious elephant in the room answer, but I don't want to be accused of wank or being a SJW, so I'm not touching that one.

I love you. I've been search on the 4th post and it was on the 3rd. You saved me.

I hope they're tempted to continue it.

Right now with one movie there is too little known about all the new characters. And unless Disney does a better job explaining just how Rey got so good at everything from fighting to fixing ships, she'd remain Sue-ish for me.

Then there is why Ben Solo turned. Why? How? And not just because grandpa/the Force/mommy loved her job more.

There is a Kylux fic very Hux centric that was very much like The Office. Inopportune Moments?

I've seen some good fanart, but yeah, in general it seems like a really underrepresented pairing considering how cute they were together in film and all the photo shoots of the actors being adorbs together.

This is the first time I've been excited about a probably canon het ship, so I am disapointed that there's so little there. For what ever reason it seems that more traditionally slash fans are shipping it then typical het fans. But then they're going for ot3 usually when they actually write something.

I came out of the cinema thinking that they were cute together and obviously a great fit, but in the end I was still more interested in the dynamic between Kylo and Rey. I guess I felt like there was more to explore there?

They're both boring. There. I said it. They're only interesting when you ship them with interesting characters.

Re: Why so little Rey/Finn?

(Anonymous) 2016-03-21 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
FinnRey would be a bigger pairing if people spent more time writing fic about them and less time accusing people who don't ship it of racism.

I base this on the fact that several people on my dash have reblogged posts of the "It sure is a mystery why the ship featuring a lovely BLACK man is less popular than the one featuring the WHITE rapist, hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmMMMMm" variety, and yet they don't ever reblog any actual FinnRey content. The ones who're even in TFA fandom seem to be heavily into StormPilot, but most of them only ever seem to post TFA content to call out Kylo fans for doing fandom wrong.

In your opinion.

lmao @ "to call out Kylo fans for doing fandom wrong"

It must be hard to be so preoccupied with judging the stupid shit other people like in their free time. I'll happily "do fandom wrong" just to spite them.

Honestly, that's how I became a Reylo shipper. I could have gone either way, but after seeing a bunch of sanctimonious 14-year-olds call all Reylo shippers abuse apologists and racists, I was like, fuck it, I'm in.

Is Iolo Arana dead? I read that on one of the latest prompts. But I'd thought Ello Atsy was the one who died. I don't recall Iolo being in the visual dictionary or anything either.

I'm not a Reylo shipper yet. Buf if you've got some good recs, that might change.

Hux fans

(Anonymous) 2016-03-21 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Just a question for fellow Hux fans. Why did you latch onto General Genocide?

I mean Gleeson is cute and all, but in a film filled with cute actors, here is this space nazi and all around horrible person who had very little lines and screen time, didn't do much other than being a vehicle to fire the Starkiller, not very definitive characterization, and some rivalry with Kylo Ren.

Was it other people’s fanfics? I didn’t notice Hux at all until some very well-written fics depicting him as the long-suffering bureaucrat stuck fixing other people’s mistakes, and it filled me with sympathy (I know that feel). But that may not be the movie Hux at all. For all we know he may be a man who didn’t do any engineering planning for Starkiller, was not all that effective (look at their guard detail, 2 high valued prisoners one right after another, lack of personnel at a key weakness of the base), had never seen active combat (canonish), and only got there because daddy + young and easier to manipulate + is a vicious ass + everyone else sucked more + may be related to Palpatine + Snoke liked gingers + has a magical wish granting cat.

So why Hux?

Re: Hux fans

(Anonymous) 2016-03-21 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
So I'm pretty sure I'm an outlier adn should not be counted, but in fandom and particularly in fic, I almost always gravitate toward villains with maybe a handful of exceptions. This is largely because I'm here for hate!ships and conflict. I want wasp vs hornet fic: someone's (ideally both) going to get stung, and I don't care who it is.

There's something about cruel, irremediable bastards that I find endlessly fascinating. Since I generally prefer the colder, more meticulous stoic versions, my options in Star Wars are kind of limited and Hux comes closest.

I was looking for Hux/Kylo pretty early, basically as soon as I'd exhausted all the good Rey/Kylo fics (different type of interest, but cool dynamic nonetheless), however I always expected it to be an underground rare-pair. Welp, that will show me for underestimating the slash community.

Also, to be clear, I don’t relate to/empathise with/see myself in any characters ever, that’s just not how my mind works when I engage with media. So I have no auto-response to protagonists/likable good-guys/the every-person.

"It sure is a mystery why the ship featuring a lovely BLACK man is less popular than the one featuring the WHITE rapist, hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmMMMMm"

lmao what rapist? I mean, you could make a case for the whole "I'm gonna dig through your mind painfully to find out what I need" as being mind rape, but you know that's not what those people are going for. Any character they don't like is a literal rapist in the legal sense of the term.

For me, it was because I like Domhnall Gleeson, and I liked the dynamic he had with Kylo Ren, since I can relate to the whole "I hate my fucking lunatic of a coworker" thing.

Also, I have a thing for overdramatic speeches.

My favourite thing is them calling Ren Rey's abuser. As if they were actually in some kind of relationship in which abuse could have taken place.

These people deliberately misuse "scary" words like abuser and rapist to get people on their side. Because who is brave enough to argue against them when the likelihood is you'll be labelled a rape-apologist or pro-abuse? They use people's anxieties and fear of being targeted against them. I'm sure it makes them feel powerful and important.
