So I'm pretty sure I'm an outlier adn should not be counted, but in fandom and particularly in fic, I almost always gravitate toward villains with maybe a handful of exceptions. This is largely because I'm here for hate!ships and conflict. I want wasp vs hornet fic: someone's (ideally both) going to get stung, and I don't care who it is.
There's something about cruel, irremediable bastards that I find endlessly fascinating. Since I generally prefer the colder, more meticulous stoic versions, my options in Star Wars are kind of limited and Hux comes closest.
I was looking for Hux/Kylo pretty early, basically as soon as I'd exhausted all the good Rey/Kylo fics (different type of interest, but cool dynamic nonetheless), however I always expected it to be an underground rare-pair. Welp, that will show me for underestimating the slash community.
Also, to be clear, I don’t relate to/empathise with/see myself in any characters ever, that’s just not how my mind works when I engage with media. So I have no auto-response to protagonists/likable good-guys/the every-person.
