REPROMPTING + DELICIOUS + FILLS POST

I wanted to discuss a couple things before post 5 goes up tomorrow Monday.

1) We briefly discussed but didn't exactly settle on what to do re: reposting prompts for previous rounds. I feel the topic should be revisited now that we're almost on round 5.

What I'm considering is having a 2 week-long prompt freeze after post 5/right before post 6 and a separate reprompting post where you guys can link to prompts from the first 3/4 rounds. There'd be a reprompting format you guys would have to follow and some basic rules (no more than 2 prompts a day, etc)

I'm open to ideas and suggestions, but keep in mind that the main reason for this is to avoid new rounds being clogged with reposts while still bringing those "old" prompts to attention.

2) We're looking for delicious volunteers to bookmark prompts from round 4. Someone volunteered to take care of round 2 prompts, so we only need someone for round 4. Delicious is relatively easy to use and bookmarking is really simple using the bookmarklet tool. If you're interested email me at tfakink AT gmail DOT com.

3) Please remember to link your fills in the fills post. The actual prompt post can be at times fast-paced and fills tend to get lost, so linking them there will help people to find them.

Anything else you guys wish me to address, comment and I'll edit this post. Comments are screened.

Reprompts should go in regular prompting posts, but labelled as 'reprompt' with a link to the original. Having a separate post for them is pointless.

It never has on all the other more active memes that do it this way. Few people will bother going to look at a separate reprompt post. It'd be just as effective as going to the original prompt and seconding it again.

I'm sorry, but I really think two weeks is way way too long. People will lose interest.

Isn't the re prompt post supposed to be in that two weeks (Round 6.5: Bringing Sexy (prompts) Back)? So stuff would still be going on.

For re-prompts: maybe stick to prompts that weren't originally yours (ie. something that you seconded or want to see but someone else thought of it first). Obviously no way to enforce that, but lets some of the heroic prompts of old that are sadly unfilled shine.

Thought B: if you're re-prompting, write the opening line. Filler can use or not, but maybe that one little sentence will get the ball rolling for some (nothing is more intimidating than a blank page).

I like the first idea, but the second not so much. In part, that's because writing the first line requires really involved thought about a prompt; a decision about pairings sometimes, decisions about when it takes place, the way characterization is being approached, the tone of the story... actually, for me, writing the first line of a fill is the sign I can/should write that fill (I'm working on too many already!). But also, part of the reason I second a prompt is because I want to read somebody else's take on it - most likely because I can't come up with anything myself or don't actually like what I did come up with. So writing the beginning of it in that case is like... here, write something I don't want to read?

Ah, idk. Just my thoughts.

I think a two week prompt freeze to allow for reprompts would probably slow things down too much.

An idea of a dedicated reprompt post could still work though. Either that, or only allow reprompts after 5 posts have passed -- so in prompt post 6, you can only repost unfilled prompts from post 1.

Maybe you can post the re-prompt during the midpost freeze if people are worried it will slow things down too much? And since reprompt posts don't have freezes people can just go back and forth.

I have no problem with either tbh. But I've come from memes that have long freezes between rounds (2+ weeks), so maybe that's it.

I have no problem with the special reprompt post, but do with doubling the length of the freeze. We've been averaging only about a week between freezes as it is, iirc? So with a two-week freeze we'd be spending significantly more time frozen than not frozen.

I really like the idea of the reprompting being active during standard freezes, though!

I think this is a really good idea. People who don't want to reprompt won't be disrupted by a long break, and people who do want to reprompt will have a regular schedule.

Why re-prompt at all? The past prompts are still there. People can still scroll through and post to them if they want?

Or! Perhaps when you post Post 5, the very FIRST post can be a mod post. "RE PROMPT LINKS ONLY" and leave it so people can reply to just that. ALL in one place, all reposts reply to the first comment. Replies are simply the "subject" and a Link? If others are interested in the subject, maybe they will link through to the original post? It would keep repost clutter in one place, but still on the Post 5 list?

I don't know? Personally I don't really NEED to see reposts. I tend to go through all the pages as they go. If it caught my interest I go back and work on it. So I'm 'meh' on it, but I know some people would be happy for it, and it wont honestly bother me? So I'm just tossing in my two credits here. I just don't want to see a flood of the same rehashed things posted.

Either that or if they want to repost something, rewords it, give a better/different hook, and post it as a normal prompt?

Is the Delicious account still active? I tried to look at it today and got a 404.
