In the Star Wars verse there are a lot of sentient species, and a lot of near-human species... and presumably a lot of people who are human with a little... extra in their lineage. I would love to see any take on how this helps, hurts, or is regarded, from any point of view, Resistance, First Order, Republic or otherwise. Better senses? Worse senses? Instincts that are a little different? Assumptions made by humans or non-humans? Parents that regret or made a very deliberate choice to take a human for a life partner?

It just seems that the humans always seem to be in the middle of politics, from the crazy force users to the clone troopers to the First Order, so being on the edge of that might be a very interesting point of view.

There was a lovely "Finn becomes the patron saint of the Stormtrooper rebellion" that included some of this among Stormtroopers: "have you heard" by peradi:

Oh wow hope someone fills this gorgeous, filthy awesome prompt.

The most annoying thing about Poe’s resurrection, once he got past the fact that he had been resurrected (or, really, once he started ignoring that, he had to or his mind simply shut down) was the fact that he had been resurrected naked on a cliff overlooking the ocean. It was a nice place for someone to have dumped his ashes, Poe guessed, but it was a fucking terribly place to come back to life (don’t think about it, don’t think about it, DON’T THINK ABOUT IT) naked.

His feet, by the time he found civilization, were bloodied messes. His hands as well. He had scratches up and down his legs and arms and the only reason he’d gotten out of the forest without a mark on his junk was by moving very carefully. He wasn’t really surprised that the first person who saw him had screamed and called the police.

He was just grateful that they’d been doing laundry that day and, after answering the door and seeing Poe’s naked form, had dumped their laundry basket all over Poe and the front porch. Sure, the clothes didn’t smell great, and they didn’t fit quite right but… but Poe would take what he could get.

Man, he missed his jacket.

Not that he’d have gotten his jacket back if he’d been resurrected wearing the clothes he had died in (what would they have dressed him in at the cremation? Hell if he knew, hell… hell… DON’ THINK ABOUT IT) he’d put all of his clothes in a church donation box the day before his contract came up.

He’d never intended to fight the contract.

There was ringing in his ears.

No, not ringing, a screaming, Poe couldn’t… he fell to his knees and clutched his head. He… he needed… he might have screamed, he couldn’t tell, there wasn’t… the glass of the abandoned gas station he’d broken into shattered. Dust and anything looters had ignored shook off the shelves and crashed into the ground.

If shit falls to the ground and the only person around to hear is in agonizing aural pain, does it make a sound?

Poe laughed, even as he screamed.

It’s not like anyone would hear.

The screaming (ringing, bells, a sound like discordant glass bells being smashed together for eternity) stopped.

Eventually.

“Thank god.”

It was the closest he’d come to prayer in a long time.

Sailing ships, magic, merfolk, bargaining. Looking for dangerous, beautiful merfolk. Pleased, they can charm the winds for you. Wrathful, they can send a storm that will wreck your ship and leave them an ample feast to share with their familiars.

The Captain makes a bargain. Only time will tell if it was a bad idea. Only you can determine who is involved and how it ends… or carries on.

Options, not required:

-Captain Han is a rogue/privateer. Friendly to everyone, the trouble he falls into never seems to quite catch up with him. Leia, unraveling his troubles from underwater far away, wonders if it’s worth it. He always convinces her it is. (Rumors abound about Captain Han’s bastard son, who had an uncanny nose for storms but hasn’t been seen in years.)

-Captain Hux beguiled the dark merman from the depths with good red meat, ample flattery, and who knows what further promises. Red lighting storms have since doomed his enemies and rivals. His sailors don’t comment about the trail of water across the deck and down to his cabin. Whatever magic is involved, they don’t want to attract its attention.

-It’s unsurprising that the lone survivor of a long ago wreck is a bit odd. She grew up alone after all. There’s more to Rey’s mystery than that.

- Poe was tossed overboard to sooth the storm. Finn needs to get out of the water. The only magic involves willing help from a human.

-Luke, in self-imposed exile, holds a secret.

Somehow, Snoke has blocked both Anakin and Obi Wan's force ghosts from appearing to Kylo and telling him that he's fucking up. He didn't think to block Ahsoka, though, and Ahsoka has a lot of things to say.

Give me Finn learning about pre-Empire Clone Wars era stormtroopers. Finn has grown with a negative image of stormtroopers, but deep down he was one and that's always going to be a big part of who he is. But it would be nice having Finn learn about stormtroopers who were good, who fought for good ideals and sometimes even too went against orders to do what was right.

Maybe Leia talks to him about Captain Rex (they're both on rebels), or they find some old records (I'm sure Luke or the Resistance kept things from the Old Republic). Maybe force ghosts Kenibi and Anakin tell him stories about Fives, Cody, Echo, etc. because they see that he's ashamed of his past as a stormtrooper.

Part of me wants to scream that by some miracle Ahsoka is alive, but yes, second! Give me aunt Ahsoka (because Anakin and Padme totally adopted her) putting her foot down.

Well, self-defense could be argued (and was, resulting in no jail time but the aforementioned restraining order was issued and is still in effect), but Hux is also irresistibly attracted to hot messes to begin with.

Ren is pretty much exactly Hux's type: obsessively focused and/or artistic genius. Long hair. Likes being told what to do, at least to a point.

The problem for Hux is just because Ren likes to sir him in the bedroom it doesn't mean he'll roll over professionally. And Hux might have set out to seduce him and head off clam-related problems, but just because he's deliberate about it doesn't mean he really knows what he's doing. See: the relationship that ended in the ER.

Post-ER-visit Hux decided that the problem had little to do with him and everything to do with choosing a lover who felt physically intimidated by him, so his rubric for significant others now includes "can heft me for wall sex". (Ren managed it in the shower stall too, without breaking anything, very fortunate as it was glass).

Unfortunately for Hux many of his conclusions are erroneous. Fortunately for Hux, Ren is very creative. /Unfortunately for Hux, Ren is very creative./

I kind of picture this as a verse wherein Ren calls Leia in and Hux is simultaneously incensed (Ren's interfering and implying he can't do his job! how dare?!) and fanboying because Leia's firm is well known in the industry and Hux is just starting out.

Hux and Ren end up as each other's booty calls until they actually move in together, still arguing. Decades later they never got married and Hux is THE premier green architect and mentor for their entire timezone/continent. It doesn't matter how he got into it, he will be the best. Shut up, Ren, and put your dishes away, I have interns coming by in half an hour.

When he was on the lower rungs of the first order ladder, his father took his skin to ensure he'd remain loyal and not return to the sea like his mother had. From what Hux has been able to find out over the years, his father sold it on the black market as pelts are incredibly rare. He got his son's undying loyalty and a handsome sum. Win-win.

Some time into the relationship, he tells Kylo, who is absolutely reviled. He makes it his personal mission to get it back, at all costs.

++ kylo knowing that when he gives it back hux may well return to the sea and never look back, but he does it anyway. he doesn't want hux to stay out of gratitude. even if losing hux would well and truly break him.
