Fill: Kylo/Hux - just fuck 'em up
(Anonymous) 2016-01-25 03:59 am (UTC)(link)He keyed Ren’s commlink, opening a channel.
“Yes, General,” Ren answered, voice distorted through his mask and comm.
“I have priority communication from Leader Snoke. He has asked that I share it with you personally. I will meet you in the conference room on Deck C in ten minutes,” Hux said.
“Of course, General,” Ren replied. He’d bought Hux’s lie, just as Hux knew he would. Hux barely had to breathe Snoke’s name and Ren would be willing to do whatever he believed their Leader had ordered. Hux had never seen another man so blinded by his own desperation.
Hux activated his desk terminal, pulling up the signal from the tracker he’d placed on Ren. A red line on the screen traced Ren’s walk to the conference room. When Ren was inside, Hux opened a channel to Finalizer’s control room.
“Seal corridor 721 and the conference room on Deck C. My personal access only,” he ordered.
“Yes, General,” replied the officer on duty.
Hux tapped his combination into the safe behind his desk. Inside he kept two small, high-powered blasters in their holsters. He retrieved one, slipping the holster over his shoulders. His greatcoat hid the weapon, tucked snugly against his ribs. Hux rarely carried a weapon; he had an entire army for wetwork, but an encounter with Kylo Ren required extra precaution.
Kylo Ren was waiting for him in the conference room, helmet off, hands clasped behind his back. Hux locked the door behind him.
“What news from Leader Snoke was so urgent that you interrupted my meditations?” Ren asked.
“We have a traitor on board,” Hux said. “After the FN-2187 debacle, Snoke has ordered me to eliminate nonconformity amid our ranks.”
“Your poor control of your troops hardly concerns me, General,” Ren said. Hux refused to rise to Ren’s bait. He switched his comm over to playback mode and laid it on the table.
“Forgive me. I feel it again. The pull to the light.” Ren’s mouth twitched with rage even as his face flushed with shame as he listened to his own pathetic confession. Hux took great pleasure in exploiting the weaknesses of others.
“How did you acquire this?” Ren snapped, taking a step toward Hux. Hux didn’t move. Unlike their subordinates, he was not afraid of Ren. Ren had no understanding of subtle power, only of brute force and raw anger. When those had been spent, Ren had nothing Hux feared.
“You make the mistake of thinking that I do not know everything that happens aboard this ship, Ren,” Hux said.
“I am not one of your subordinates, Hux,” Ren spat, hands clenching and unclenching into fists.
“That’s true. You hold no official rank within the First Order. You are here because Snoke finds you useful, though I’ve no idea why.”
Ren’s face went white with rage, lashing out just as Hux had expected. Hux ducked easily under Ren’s punch, falling into skills he’d spent hours practicing. He slipped behind Ren and kicked at his left knee, following with a jab to his right kidney. Ren fell to his knees. Hux kicked him hard in the ribs and Ren grabbed at his ankle, throwing Hux off-balance. Hux stumbled back and Ren staggered to his feet, pressing a hand to his side.
It was a feint, Hux realized too late as Ren used his moment of distraction to close the distance between them. Ren’s next punch didn’t miss, landing solidly in Hux’s stomach. He doubled over, gagging, and Ren grabbed his hair, slamming his head hard against the wall. Lights exploded behind his eyes and Ren wasted no time in wrapping a hand around his throat. Hux gasped as Ren’s fingers closed down.
“You are nothing compared to the power of the dark side,” Ren told him. Hux kicked out, catching Ren on the hip with his heavy boot, his aim ruined by lack of air. It was enough to make Ren drop him, and Hux used the opening to slam a fist into Ren’s nose. Hux felt something pop in his hand at the impact but he ignored the pain in favor of following up with an uppercut to Ren’s chin. Ren fell back against the table, blood dripping from his nose. Hux hoped it was broken.
Ren charged him and Hux used his momentum against him, grabbing his arm and flipping him over his hip. Ren lay gasping for breath, Hux’s throw having knocked the wind out of him. Hux placed a booted foot on his throat and Ren went still under the pressure.
“I do not tolerate traitors aboard my ship, Ren,” Hux said, keeping his voice level. He drew his blaster and aimed it down at Ren’s forehead, ignoring the throb in his broken hand. Ren’s eyes followed his thumb as he flipped off the safety. “I will not warn you again.” Hux brushed his finger over the trigger.
“Understood,” Ren said, dark eyes blazing with defiance. Hux raised an eyebrow, waiting.
“‘Understood,’ what,” Hux snapped, pressing down a little harder with his boot.
Ren’s jaw clenched. Finally, he ground out: “Understood, Sir."
