What if Rey and Finn didn't get picked up by Chewbacca and Han Solo in the Millennium Falcon after they departed Jakku with BB-8? They manage to drop BB-8 off at the nearest Resistance Base and decide to gallivant around the galaxy as adventurers — close shave with First Order was enough, kthxbye and Rey wants to find her family so.

Through shenanigans, the duo accidentally become the Galaxy's next Han Solo and Chewbacca, beating the Kessel Run in 10 parsecs, sabotaging the First Order etc etc (Like OKAY, Rey (infrastructure didn't change all that much and her scavenging was really useful) and Finn are both quite familiar with the inside of Starkillers so i imagine that maybe once, twice, okay SEVERAL TIMES, they were caught but always managed to slip away thanks to their inside knowledge.)

Finally, Poe is sent to recruit the mysterious duo for the Resistance that he's heard so many rumours about. Because DAMN, the Resistance could really use their sharpshooting, piloting and kickass skills. It doesn't go that easily.

I had no idea how much I wanted this until just now. SECONDED.
