This is snapshots-anon, I hope you enjoy this fill OP !

(i'm bad at calculating so the age of the students according to the timeline is probably all screwed up sorry – the snapshots being out of order in the timeline probably didn't help)

(english isn't my first language so there's probably a lot of mistakes, I apologize in advance for them and hope that it won't prevent you from reading this)

10. Ben Solo

Luke waved at his sister and Han and tried to ignore the feeling of betrayal and anger flashing through him. He knew that those feelings weren't his. He turned to his nephew who was standing next to him and staring despondently at his parents' back.

Luke suddenly felt exhausted. Ben had been at the Academy for 2 years now and still nothing seemed to have changed. He was still angry at him, at his parents, at the world. He still isolated himself from the other students. Luke still didn't know what to do or what had gone wrong.

He remembered his nephew when he was five as an happy if slightly clingy toddler. He remembered him 5 years later as an angry, sad child.

He had done everything to try and help his nephew. He had even guiltily thought that maybe what Ben needed was more attention and love. It was like pouring water into a broken cup.

Luke inwardly sighed. Every time he looked at Ben he could only feel impending doom.

Sometime he wondered if it would not have been best if the Skywalkers had stopped at him and his sister ... but it hadn't and now his family needed him.

"Come on Ben, let's back go inside."

9. Meena Vebb, Marg Proga and Li-Tuan Oldin

Luka carefully observed the three padawans who were all engaged in a lightsaber fight, making notes of their strengths and weaknesses.

He didn't have many students and their ages varied widely. Those three were the only children who were all the same ages at 11 years old.
They were also his first students. He had trained them ever since they had all been 4 years old.

Watching them fight was an experience. The Mon Calamari, Cerean and Human were close friends but were also quite competitive. They challenged each other constantly to become the best and at the same time challenged him to find ways to teach them.

Luke was glad in a way that those three had been his first students, they had pushed him to become a better teacher.

He had to admit he hadn't known what he had gotten into when he had started. Even though it was apparently his destiny to resuscitate the Jedi, no one had left him a detailed plan. The first months had been hard. He hadn't had more than a year of training with actual Masters, he barely knew the basic. Letting himself be guided by the Force only worked for so long.

He had been tempted many time to give up. To buckle under the weight of the work he would have to do. To do something else, something less overwhelming but still useful like finding the first Jedi temple and gather more informations about the Force. Or maybe keep working to fight the remnant of the Empire ...

He only had to think of his three students -who wanted so ardently to become Jedi- and their families -who had trusted him and had accepted to see their children only in short visits, when they could afford to travel to the Academy- to feel confident about his choice again.

If he ever wrote a biography he would have to not only write that he owed everything to Wedge Antilles but that a big part was also thanks to those three.

8. Rey

A strong feeling of fear and hunger had just woken Luke up. It was the middle of the night. The cause of those feelings was quickly found, in front of the Academy's door, laying down in a basket and swaddled in blanket, screaming at the top of its lungs.

Someone had left a baby on his doorstep.

He had to admit that he had spent several seconds simply staring incredulously at the baby and at its surrounding before finally picking it up and going back inside.

Once the baby had stopped crying and was being tended to by Auly Quadrec (the Academy's Nurse and an old friend from the Resistance) and the students who had been woken up by the wailing had been sent back to bed, Luke had sufficiently woken up to start getting suspicious about the baby's arrival. His school was well hidden and well guarded. Despite the New Republic being firmly established, there was still plenty of Empire sympathiser who would like to destroy the school. A lot of people simply distrusted the Jedi ever since the Clone Wars and weren't happy that Luke was trying to bring them back. He was always on alert. He had felt the baby's disquiet immediately after all.

For someone to have left a baby on their doorstep without being found out, they had to be able to hide themselves pretty well. For them to know that the baby was Force-Sensitive when it was so young … They had to be Force-Sensitive themselves.

Two hours later, Luke was still thinking things over -drinking a cup of tea since he was already awake- when Quadrec unceremoniously plopped the baby back in his arms.

“They're perfectly fine, about 1 year old. If we're going to keep 'em you'll have to give them a name.”

Luke looked at the man in confusion. The nurse simply sighed exasperatedly.

“I'm going back to bed, Skywalker. I know you know how to take care of a baby, you've certainly prattled about babysitting yout nephew enough. Good Night”

Luke disregarded Quadrec's tone, knowing that the man was always this grumpy, no matter the time, and gazed at the baby in his arm. They were squirming but as soon as their eyes met the baby stilled, and smiled. Luke swallowed. He had a bad feeling about this. He didn't feel particularly ready to be a dad, despite the 11 children he had to take care of everyday but the Force was already forming a bond between them and he could already feel the baby's contentment through it.

Guess he had to think of a name. He wouldn't know the baby gender until they were old enough to tell him so it had to be something neutral.

“Hey there … Rey.”

Rey closed their small fingers around his metal hand and promptly fell asleep. Safe.
