Not sure exactly how this happens but I'm thinking that Rey and Poe are jaeger pilots who are both dating Finn. Maybe Finn and Rey apply to be pilots but this other guy turns out to be a better match and Finn is bitter but Oh No He's Hot? Maybe Poe is looking for a (new?) co-pilot and Finn suggests this cute girl he had to talk to Poe about anyway? Maybe Poe and Rey are co-pilots who need to figure out a solution to having a crush on the same guy because it is Really Interfering With The Drift? Maybe something else?? The possibilities are unlimited! I am just such a fan of platonic jaeger pilots and of this ship, anything about this will make my day.

+ Poe and Rey explaining in every single interview that they're not dating (with varying degrees of patience)
++ Finn has a job in the Shatterdome and his work is affected by the emotional strain when both of his partners are fighting kaiju
