Remember in ROTJ when Luke lost his shit because Vader implied he would try to turn Leia instead ?

During the final battle Kylor Ren seriously injure Luke. Leia lose it and start attacking her son relentlessly.
Leia disarm (maybe literally -by cutting his arm off) and corner Kylo Ren and prepare to make the final blow ... and is only stopped by Luke who feels the Force shift and gather his last breath to stop his sister because he knows that even if she doesn't become Dark after this, she'll regret killing her son for the rest of her life - just like he would have regretted killing his father if he had done it.

Coming back to herself, Leia overpowers her son (terrified) mind and force him to go to sleep instead of killing him.

When Rey and Finn comes back from killing Snoke (Poe is still flying), they find Leia cradling Luke's corpse and crying, her son's unconscious form some meters away.

Bonus : if you want the fic to have a happy ending you can make Luke comes back as a Force Ghost or make him grievously injured (like Finn at the end of TFA) instead of dead

That scene in ROTJ was one of my favorite parts of the entire trilogy. Seconding this so hard.
