Kylo didn't kill Han. It was a ploy they had arranged to make Kylo look like he's gone fully to the Dark side, when he'd actually turned to the light and positioned himself to take out the Knights of Ren and the First Order from within.

Getting stabbed with a lightsaber? Visual trick, that's why they did it down on that gantry, way away from close sight. Falling off the gantry? Han was wearing a wing suit or rocket boots or something, and flew out a side port and back to a secret ship somewhere and got off the planet before it blew up.

TLDR: HAN LIVES, and his death was to cement the First order/Knights of Ren/Snoke's belief in Kylo being darkside.
