Man, is it sad that I'm longing for the impossible of whatever Ewan McGregor's "they are both sober and have a recording studio, kids, all good" Velvet Goldmine tweet is for the Sith Academy? I swear to god the accidental emotional journey those crack stories took their characters on was more powerful, more emotionally true and coherent, and definitely more formative than anything in all three of the prequels. Obi and his brother and sister and Maul would all be in their forties now, right? Damn.

[SITH LORDS KICK ASS.]

Same anon: I mean, idk about their forties; obviously they'd be in their nineties or dead in the TFA universe, but the Sith Academy was so inextricable from the dying days of the Clinton administration that I can't imagine them in a world that's less relevant to contemporary politics than the SA was. God, do any of you remember all that commentary the SA people were doing on the hypocrisy of the Clinton era and writing Palpatine brewing a takeover while genuinely not realizing that a few months later George W Bush was going to do exactly the same goddamn thing? What a wild ride.

OP here. Oh my God, I was maybe...twelve, and reading those stories. (Even the R-rated ones, despite the very familiar disclaimer.) I'm embarrassed to say that the political satire in them went directly over my head.
