Re: FILL - Ben/Poe, Hux/Kylo - Kylo Ren is a double agent for the Resistance - (3b/?)

(OP) *chinhands* I really like this update - I was really taken with the differences between Ben and the Kylo Ren persona, with Ben's own observations of things even as he acts like Kylo. Also, the brief scene with Anakin was equal parts sweet and heartbreaking - made the hug with Poe sooooo much more adorable (and painful, of course).

And the more you write, the more convinced I am of Impending Doom, and that it's probably going to be coming from a Hux-like direction. *bites nails*

FILL - Ben/Poe, Hux/Kylo - Kylo Ren is a double agent for the Resistance - (3c/?)

(Anonymous) 2016-05-15 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
Ben walks quickly to Reconditioning to collect his new requisition. Pinpointing him pressed against the wall, eyes darting around in anxious disquiet and helmet cradled in his arms like a child, Kylo crooks a finger at him. FN-2187 visibly jumps, gulps, then follows. As far as he knows, Kylo Ren is going to kill him - it's his choice whether he wants to die in front of his fellow troopers or in private.

FN-2817 follows at a respectable distance until he reaches Kylo's quarters, whereby he freezes, sweat beading at his forehead. "Sir, permission to speak?"

"Granted."

"W-what exactly is it that you are doing? What am I doing here?" FN-2187 swallows hard, and Ben tracks the frenetic movement of his Adam's apple.

Ben chuckles, then regrets manifesting his amusement - FN-2187 has misconstrued the emotion and is now scared. "Do not be afraid," he says, though that only serves to make FN-2187 even more frightened. "I have a special mission for you. I would like to administer the details in a... private setting. It is classified - beyond Captain Phasma and General Hux's jurisdiction."

Even General Hux? FN-2187 thinks loudly. Ben watches as the trooper fights to urge to widen his eyes in bewilderment. "I... Yes, sir." He follows obediently into Ben's quarters. He tries not to look like he's staring at everything. "Um, Lord Ren, sir, my reconditioning papers."

"I'll take care of it. Drinks? Ah, I'm afraid all I've got is water." He contemplates removing his helmet, but decides it's better that the trooper doesn't know what he looks like just yet.

"With all due respect," FN-2187 says, emboldened by the intimacy of their location and a brief moment to collect himself, "I'd rather know my mission details and get started as soon as possible." He shifts on his feet, widening his stance. The attempt at machismo doesn't fly over Kylo's head, but he still towers over FN-2187 nonetheless.

"You know we have the Resistance pilot Poe Dameron in custody," Ben begins. "You were there on Jakku last night. Although given the command, you didn't fire. You disobeyed Captain Phasma."

FN-2187 falters, the whites of his eyes growing in size. He's regretting talking back to Kylo Ren, thinks he's going to die.

Ben continues, "Did you think your little display of defiance would go unnoticed? You harbor feelings of dissension." Wisely, FN-2187 does not attempt to justify himself. "That is just the quality I am looking for."

FN-2187 blinks. "I'm... I'm sorry, sir?"

"FN-2187, I need you to do something for me," Ben says. "A favor, if you will. Thought I'm sure you'd be glad to reap the benefits of this particular mission - freedom from the First Order and, if you're lucky, a brand new family."

The trooper is clearly not getting any of this, and begins to protest.

"What I want from you, FN-2187," Ben says, holding a finger up to his helmet where his lips ought to be located, "is that I want you to help Poe Dameron escape." And then he's sent off with little more than a thumbs up, that turns into a thumbs down, and then a finger drawn across his throat.

As the alarms blare and troops shuffle to and fro in front of his door not even an hour later, Ben puts on Kylo Ren's best angry walk. He struts to the bridge, footfall heavy and imposing and making officers jump. He stops short as Hux barks orders at Lieutenant Mitaka. "General Hux. Is it the Resistance pilot?"

Hux gives him a wary look and grits his teeth. "Yes, and he had help." He stares at Kylo hard. It's not a good sign. "From one of our own." He blinks once, then turns away, evidently satisfied by a lack of response. "We're checking the registers now to identify which Stormtrooper -"

"No need," Kylo says. He straightens his posture, looking at a slightly elevated angle out the viewports. A classic 'he's probably using the Force, but I'm not sure' pose. "...The one from the village. FN-2187."

Hux gives him a sidelong look, but doesn't stop him as he walks off. Where are you going?

To meditate. I'll find the droid. Hux doesn't reply so Ben assumes he's satisfied with the explanation.

From the slowed pace of the officers milling about as he reaches his quarters, it seems the firefight hadn't lasted as long as he'd hoped. He overhears something about the stolen TIE fighter having been shot down, and hopes the ended lives he'd felt were First Order pilots rather than Poe. And FN-2187, he adds as an afterthought.

To his and Anakin's dismay, he ends up not meditating for long. Hux requests his presence on the bridge, cutting short a riveting conversation about how they were going to get down to Jakku and help Poe find his droid. Instead, Kylo Ren finds himself stalking the length of the bridge, struggling through his uncooperative attire not to trip on the overly-shiny, overly-slippery material. "I hope you're not disappointed that I haven't found the droid yet," Kylo says dryly, as if he had actually been looking. "It'll take a lot longer than twelve minutes to find it on a planet such as Jakku."

"How hard is it to find a ball on an empty desert planet? For that matter, can it even traverse sand?" Hux scoffs, though he's not incensed - not as incensed as he was earlier, at least. He's stuck in that negative zone of not-forgiveness, but takes the fact that Kylo was the one to initiate conversation to be a good sign.

"It's orange," retorts Kylo. "And clearly, seeing as it somehow was able to evade the fate of its master. What is it that you wanted, General?"

"Only to relay to you my orders," Hux informs him. Ben has a feeling that they're not ones that he will like. "Supreme Leader Snoke was explicit. Capture the droid if we can, but destroy it if we must."

He throws the name around like it has weight. It did once, to Ben, and still should for Kylo Ren, but it falls flat. Instead, Kylo regards Hux with a critical eye. "How capable are your soldiers, General?"

"I won't have you question my methods." Hux bristles, and as Ben casts a glance down to their feet, he notes that the general is moving at an abnormally lethargic pace. He's slowing down for Kylo. It means he wants to 'talk.'

"They're obviously skilled at committing high treason," Kylo responds. "Perhaps Leader Snoke should consider using a clone army."

He knows that the Stormtrooper program is the pride and joy of Hux's family, passed down from father to son. If Starkiller wasn't Aodhan Hux's finest work, systematic indoctrination was certainly it. He also knows that he's hated it from the beginning. Ben knows first hand what it's like to be a brainwashed child. But Hux doesn't know that.

"My men are exceptionally trained - programmed from birth -"

"Then they should have no problem retrieving the droid. Unharmed." Kylo is fully aware that Hux hates being interrupted. He does it anyway. Ben's poking Hux with a stick, testing him. He wonders how angry Hux will get.

Hux snarls, clearly not liking the direction that the conversation is going. "Careful, Ren," he warns. "That your 'personal interests' not interfere with orders form Leader Snoke." He comes to a stop in front of Kylo.

Kylo glares down at him. "I want that map. For your sake, I suggest you get it." An empty threat, and both of them know it. Kylo attempts to head off, but is halted by a hand that snaps out and grabs his wrist.

"Ren," Hux says as he drags Kylo off, "what has gotten into you?" Ben notes that Hux's idea of privacy is a nearby storage closet, which is inordinately more suspicious than any other location he could have chosen, with some amusement.

"I don't know what you mean." A perfunctory form of evasion, and it's unfortunate that Hux doesn't buy it.

"Don't," he says. "Do not attempt to pretend that there's nothing wrong. You've changed, Ren. I'm concerned."

"I should be the one saying that to you," Ben snaps in return. "You're gone all the time. You're buried up to your eyebrows in work and you rarely look at me. More often than not, I hear less of your feelings and how your day goes and more about what rhetoric you believe that your mindless slaves will eat up more - and newsflash, Hux - they're brainwashed at your command. They will accept anything you say. You could write an entire speecn in Shyriiwook and they'd salute you just as enthusiastically.

"Worse yet, you actually think Starkiller is a viable option. How exactly do you expect to rule an empty galaxy - that is, if Leader Snoke will allow you to rule? I am deeply concerned, Aodhan, because I see you getting swallowed up by this war, and I can't lose anyone else to this."

Hux doesn't say anything, instead letting Kylo pant out his frustrations. He reaches his hands up to remove Kylo's helmet, putting it on a nearby shelf, before moving to cup Kylo's face gently in cold, leather-covered palms. "Are you done?" he asks lowly. Ben worryingly can't discern the tone from threatening or comforting. It's disconcerting how Hux can blur the line so easily.

"Do not trivialize my feelings," Kylo protests, turning away. "I've had enough of that."

"I wasn't," Hux says firmly. He takes Kylo's hands into his own. "You've really been angry, haven't you?" He bites his lip, lifting slightly on his feet to nudge Kylo's forehead with his own. "The reason I have so much put into Starkiller is because, yes, I do realize that it'll sooner murder everyone in the galaxy than save it. But if that's what it takes to end this war, then so be it.

"I've waited years and years for conflict to be over. My entire life has been dedicated to warcraft. I've never had a day in my life where I hadn't needed to worry about the First Order's defenses or whether I was going to be able to come home to my father. I want it to be over, Ren. And when this is over, you and I will become the rulers of the galaxy. We can dilute our duties with bureaucracy and retire to a villa on Naboo, start a family together - kriff, I might even abdicate for Jag. I've never wanted anything else more in my life, I swear to you."

Ben doesn't want to look into Hux's eyes, to stare into the deep honestly reflected in icy blue. He doesn't have the heart to face Hux, and that does not bode well for him. The Force ghosts buzz with anxiety, picking up on Ben's own lingering feelings - if he can't bear to break Hux's heart in his own mind, how could he be able to do so when the time came?

He had made up his mind long ago that he would do anything to bring down the First Order, even if it meant sacrificing his life. It was his fault that it had been able to grow to such a large size, have claimed so many victories. One could argue that if it wasn't Ben, then some other Knight of Ren would've gotten the job done. But none of them were nearly as powerful in the Force as Ben Organa-Solo. Everything that Snoke had built, he'd used Ben as a bricklayer. So the only thing that he could do to atone was to tear down everything he had been forced to construct. Hux would end up being collateral, joining the Resistance out of the question. It was a fanciful dream - after all, the dashing general of the First Order and his not-quite-Sith lover running away, somewhere they could be safe from the galaxy's peril and eventually coming together to stop the evil they had once been a part of? Something out of a holodrama. But reality never quite worked that way.

"You never call my Kylo anymore," Ben whispers, hoarse.

"I'm saving that," Hux tells him, shifting so that their lips brush. "For when you become my consort. Then I'll call you Kylo."

Ben ends up being the one who initiates the kiss.

(OP) *stares with wide eyes* Ooooohhhhh my god. Ben. Ben, you are so fucked.

Also, I don't know whether it was your intention or not, but Hux's last lines here kind of made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up and warning bells go off in my head. Hux's talk about starting a family or even possibly abdicating in Jagged's favor didn't really assuage the worry about him from his previous updates (especially since Anakin also was getting worried), and Hux suddenly stopping calling Kylo by his first name and then saying he's "saving" it for when Kylo's his consort? That doesn't sit well with me - and is just kinda further convincing me a potential spanner in the works will be due to Hux and/or Ben/Kylo's relationship with him. Again, I don't know if any of that is your intent, but it's how I'm interpreting things at the moment.

I am also sitting here wide-eyed and anxious and hoping things work out for Ben and his family. D:

[Kylo/Poe] I'll Have to Try Once Again [2a/2]

This got a lot out of hand and I tweeked a lot of the timeline and what happens at Starkiller to fit it to what I needed. Thanks again to all the readers and everyone who commented!!!

Poe hums softly to the babies growing within him, rocking himself as best as he can with his chained ankle. Both his hands are settled on his stomach, rubbing it in circles in hopes that it will help the little ones calm. He doesn’t know why but they’ve been agitated for most of the morning, shifting and kicking, their constant moving keeping Poe from getting any rest.

Rest which Poe so desperately needs right now.

Kylo had been rougher than usual the night before, taking extra time and effort to show Poe all manners of horrors as he violated him. Poe’s mind had been assaulted by images of Yavin IV burning, of the Resistance Base on D’Qar being burned and everyone he loved dead. Kylo had taken the knowledge of the base’s location from Poe’ mind months ago and Poe still doesn’t know the fate of the Resistance because withholding that knowledge is another form of torture that he readily uses against Poe.

If it weren’t for the tiny waves of comfort and love from the twins, Poe may have finally given into despair under the onslaught. This was apparently what Kylo ha been aiming for because he didn’t stop his assault until Poe had passed out and couldn’t be revived again, which had occurred several time during the night.

It wasn’t until the next ‘day’ that Poe regained consciousness, opening his eyes to the too bright lighting of the medical bay. As he tried to puzzle together what had happened he could hear the doctor he usually dealt with berating Kylo in the background. The man was telling him that he needed to keep Poe healthy and to stop pushing him so hard if he didn’t want Poe to miscarry. The children’s survival was dependent on Poe’s health, and not just his physical health.

The words surprised Poe considering the man was part of the First Order, and was generally brusque and almost cruel when dealing with Poe. Then again perhaps he was just worried about his won skin, if Poe or the babies didn’t survive the man’s life was likely forfeit.

The lecture was cut off by the sound of choking and Poe could hear Kylo growling at the doctor that was the man’s responsibility to ensure that Poe was healthy enough to carry Kylo’s children to term. If he couldn’t do so then Kylo could easily have him replaced. Both the doctor and Poe knew that Kylo did not mean he would have the doctor resigned.

Even with all his anger and threats, Kylo did heed the doctor’s advice and allowed Poe to rest and recuperate. Poe hadn’t seen head or tail of Kylo in hours. He didn’t even see PC-4255 more than twice; both times for meals as well as a supervised bath, which Poe would have enjoyed more if the stormtrooper hadn’t been watching him the entire time. He didn’t even know if PC-4255 was male or female, the trooper never said anything to Poe.

At least the meals were pleasant. Lunch had consisted of a sandwich made of what Poe suspected may be Endorian chicken, it was absolutely divine. Dinner was a vegetable platter that Poe suspected Kylo had either made himself, or supervised the making of; because it was a dish right out of Poe’s past. It was something Poe’s mother used to make for special occasions, particularly when the Organa-Solo family used to visit.

The sight and taste of it brought tears to Poe’s eyes. He’s spent the better part of dinner trying not to cry while PC-4255 had watched him eat. It wasn’t until afterward that Poe had finally allowed himself to grieve in the knowledge that he’d likely never see Yavin IV or his father again.

He’d fallen asleep crying only to be woken up when the babies started to become restless.

Poe is sure that’s it late in the night, or the sleep cycle; Poe hasn’t seen actual daylight since he left D’Qar on his mission to Jakku. He’s not even sure where he is outside of Kylo Ren’s private chamber. He knows that he was on the Finalizer at some point but after a second round in the torture chamber he’d passed out again and woken up in these rooms.

One of the baby’s kicks particularly hard and Poe hisses as he presses his hand against his side. “It’s alright little ones. . .everything’s okay.” Poe ignores the way his voice cracks as he says the words. “You just need to settle down.” I need to sleep he adds mentally, I’m just so tired.

Almost as if they can hear him the babies settle and Poe could almost cry in relief because maybe he can finally get the rest he so desperately craves.

He’s just settling down, trying to find a semi-comfortable position to lay down in when sirens start going off. Startled he sits up, looking around himself and wondering just what the hell is going on.

[ENEMY ATTACK; ALL HANDS TO STATIONS]

Poe’s as excited as he is terrified, because conceivably there is only one faction that would risk an attack on the First Order and that’s the Resistance. He’s terrified because he knows that if the Resistance does succeed that it’s going to mean his death because no one even knows that he’s alive.

If that’s what success for the Resistance and freedom for Poe means, Poe is ready to accept that.

“This may be the end of the line for us.” He whispers to the babies, placing his hands on his stomach. “That might just be for the best anyway.” He’s more than ready for his ordeal to finally be over.

The babies don’t take well to that and once again they’re squirming inside of him and instead of it just being uncomfortable now it’s downright painful. “Shhh, I’m sure it’ll be quick there won’t be any pain.” At least Poe hopes it won’t be painful because he’s so tired of being in pain. “We’ll be free of all of this.” His words aren’t soothing them at all, instead of talking he starts singing one of the songs that his mother used to sing to him when he was upset or scared during the stormy nights on Yavin IV.

“Little child, be not afraid
The rain pounds harsh against the glass
Like an unwanted stranger
There is no danger
I am here tonight”

The song seems to be working, slowly the babies are settling once again and Poe can feel them reaching out to him with the Force. The touch feels different than the soothing comfort he’s used to but Poe doesn’t realize it; his attention is divided between calming the babies with song and listening to the sound of the blaring siren.

Little child
Be not afraid
Though thunder explodes
And lightning flash
Illuminates your tearstained face
I am here tonight

There’s the sound of feet running past the door, Poe ignores it. It’s not as though anyone is coming to his rescue.

And someday you'll know
That nature is so
This same rain that draws you near me
Falls on rivers and land
And forests and sand
Makes the beautiful world that you see
In the morning

Poe voice cracks and suddenly he’s crying, leaning over and curling his hands around his stomach. “I’m so sorry.” He tells the babies brokenly. “You deserve so much better than any of this. It’s not your fault that your father is a Sith and that I’m little more than a broken shell of a person. Now you’re not even going to get to experience all the joys of life because of us.”

The sirens become background noise as Poe sobs releasing all the emotions he’s tried to keep hidden deep within him since the night Ren found him on Jakku. Eventually the there are no more tears and Poe just keeps whispering ‘I’m sorry’ over and over again.

He almost misses the sounds of someone stopping outside of the door to the room. He doesn’t miss the sound of people arguing loudly.

“This is the room, I can feel the presence of the Force signatures coming from inside.”

“The doors sealed shut how are we going to open it?”

“I don’t know wise guy, maybe a blaster shot or-”

There’s an unfamiliar sound almost a thrumming and then the sound of sparking electronics as the door suddenly slides open and Poe is left staring wide eyed as Han Solo enters the room looking equal parts annoyed and impressed. “Or a lightsaber, that works to. You’re still a damn show off Luke.”

Oh and Luke Skywalker is entering after Han followed by an unfamiliar girl and a dark skinned man.

“F-Finn?” Somehow the sight of the stormtrooper that tried to save him is more shocking than seeing the man he risked everything to find a map to, and the father of his tormentor standing in the doorway.

Apparently he’s not the only one who’s surprised because Luke and Han are staring at him in surprise. It’s Finn who breaks the silence as he steps into the room. “Poe? Poe Dameron?! You’re alive?!” Suddenly he’s rushing over to Poe, pulling him into a hug, or trying to until he’s stopped by Poe’s obviously distended stomach. “What? Oh? Ohhhh. . .”

Poe wants to feel ashamed but he’s well past that now, instead he pats Finn on the shoulder and turns to the two older men. “Master Luke, Mr Solo, what are you doing here?” It doesn’t feel right referring to Han Solo as familiarly as he used to, once he’d been uncle Han and now. . . well soon it may very well be grandpa Han if they make it out of here.

“Apparently we’re here to save you. Kriff kid Leia thought you were dead. . . what happened to you?” Han asks, his eyes taking Poe in as though the answer aren’t obvious. Or maybe it isn’t, it’s not every day that someone you thought was a regular human male ends up pregnant

Before Poe can answer there’s a familiar roar from the hallway, Poe almost forgot that wherever Han goes Chwbacca goes as well. “Never mind, we’ll save the explanations for later, right now we need to get out of here before reinforcements arrive. It figures that little distraction wouldn’t keep their attention for long. Common kid.”

“I can’t I. . .” Poe gestures to his ankle helplessly where he’s still chained to the bed. He’s eternally thankful that he’s been allowed clothes today because this entire rescue would be infinitely more awkward if he was nude. Of course the loose white pants and large tunic he’s wearing aren’t exactly the best clothes to go traipsing around in, not to mention he’s barefoot.

Han’s cursing even as Luke walks over to him. “You need to hold still Poe.” Nodding Poe holds perfectly still as Luke easily slices through the chain as close to Poe’s ankle as possible. “We’ll have it removed properly when we get back to base.”

Poe notices Luke’s eyes resting on his stomach for several moments before he offers Poe a hand up. It would be nice to say that Poe stood up with some amount of grace and dignity, but he barely makes it two feet before he was staggering and Finn’s arms are suddenly around him holding him steady. Apparently being six months pregnant and not having walked much during that time because you’re chained to a bed does not lend itself well to walking.

“Are you okay Poe?” Finn asks anxiously as he helps to steady Poe.

“Yeah, I just it’s been awhile since I’ve uh. . . walked much.” The comment brings more cursing from Han and looks of horror from Finn and the girl, while Luke’s face is carefully blank.

“Chewie we need you in here!” Han calls out moments before Chewie comes in. “Kid can’t walk, we’re gunna need you to carry him.”

Chewie looks over at Poe with an expression of sorrow and Poe doesn’t fight as the wookiee picks him up with some effort. “Hi Chewie.” Chewie’s arms are warm around him and Poe feels safe like he hasn’t in months, he could almost fall asleep if not for the pressing issue of them needing to escape.

Even so there’s so much he wants to ask about what’s going on though. Why is Finn here? Did the Resistance get the map BB-8 carried? Is BB-8 okay? Who’s the girl? What’s going on? Does Han know that his son is Kylo Ren? Poe didn’t until all of this happened and it would have been nice for someone to have told him that.

As they make their ways through the halls the babies start to get restless again and Poe’s starting to think that means something. “Something’s wrong. I think. . . I think maybe Kylo Ren’s coming.”

Luke glances back at him and then over at the girl. “Yes, I can feel him, can you Rey?”

The girl, Rey, nods. “Yes, he feels angry.”

Han exchanges a look with Luke. “You and I need to go after him then; Chewie can make sure the kids make it to the Falcon.”

Poe knows why Han feels he has to go but he doesn’t think it’ll do any good. “Han he’s not there anymore. Ben. . .B-Ben wouldn’t have done what Kylo Ren has. I know Leia believes that there’s hope, but he’s so dark he even scares. . .” He trails off pressing a hand to his stomach. “You shouldn’t go.”

“Hey kid, I’ve got Luke with me, we’ll be okay.” Han comes over and gives his hand a comforting squeeze. “You focus on yourself right now, when you get to the Falcon you let Leia know you’re alive, everyone’s been real down without you.” He turns to Finn and Rey. “I’m tasking you two with getting him back safely and covering Chewie. If we don’t meet you at the Falcon in thirty or if things get too wild, you take off Rey, don’t stick around. Luke’s an old hand at stealing shuttles so we’ll get away somehow.”

Luke smiles in agreement. “I’ll be much safer escaping knowing that Commander Dameron is not in his X-wing getting ready to shoot me down. You already take after your mother too much, and I’d hate for you to mistake me for an enemy ship as well.”

The reminder of his mother has Poe feeling wistful and sad, but there will be time to dwell on that later. “Good luck.” Is all he can bring himself to say as Chewie’s grip tightens to keep him steady as he starts to run, Finn and Rey following close behind.

Escaping doesn’t prove easy but Finn is a great shot and Rey is apparently a Jedi in training because she’s able to deflect some of the shots. Her weapon of choice is a quarterstaff but she’s not a bad shot with a blaster either. When they do make it out, they walk out into a world bathed white with snow.

“W-w-where are we?” Poe asks, teeth already chattering from the cold. This is the first time he’s felt fresh air in months and even though it’s cold enough to freeze the air in his lungs it feels so wonderful.

“Starkiller Base, it’s the First Order’s super weapon.” Finn tells Poe as they hurry to where the Falcon is sitting. “The Resistance fighters are trying to destroy it before it destroys its next target, D’Qar.” He looks worried as he glances toward where there is a battle going on above their heads between X-wings and TIE fighters. Poe’s not sure how he missed the noise when they first stepped out. “We took down the shields but they haven’t taken out the thermal oscillator yet.”

Rey frowned and looked back the way they came. “It’s possible they can’t break the surface to get a critical hit, we need to weaken the structure for him. Chewie you take Poe to the Falcon, Finn and I are going to deal to help the Resistance out.”

That wasn’t a good idea but if the next target is D’Qar then they need to do everything they can to stop it. Poe knows he’s just a liability and won’t be much help, but Chewie will be able to. “You need to go with them Chewie, keep them safe.” The Falcon can’t be that far, Poe can probably make it on his own.

Chewie isn’t having any of that though, he howls at Poe and then at Rey and Finn.

“I don’t know what you’re saying but you need to get Poe to the Falcon and keep him safe.” Finn insists.

Rey nods in agreement. “It would be best, we shouldn’t be long.”

The two don’t even wait for acknowledgement, running back the way they came. Chewie growls but he turns away and hurries toward the direction of the Falcon. Poe can’t do anything but hold on for the moment.

Re: [Kylo/Poe] I'll Have to Try Once Again [2b/2]

When they get to the Falcon though there is something that he can do, piloting doesn’t require the use of his legs. “I’m not sitting around twiddling my thumbs; I’ve done enough of that for the last six months.” It’s been years since he sat on Han Solo’s knee learning to pilot the Falcon with Ben at his side, but Poe Dameron can fly anything. “Chewie man the guns, I’m taking the Falcon up, we’re going to help my pilots get this death machine taken care of. We can’t let Finn and Rey do all the work.”

Chewie seems to be in agreement with that at least and Poe doesn’t turn to watch Chewie go, he’s more concerned with starting up the Falcon, which is significantly less easy without a co-pilot and with a giant stomach keeping him from bending over properly. This may not be the wisest course of action but he’d rather go down fighting.

“Hold on babies.” He starts the Falcon up and launches it right into the middle of the battle, the Falcon can take a lot more damage than an X-wing can especially with the shields up, Poe uses that to his advantage.

His radio crackles as he joins in the fight. “Falcon this is Dagger Leader, we’re happy to have you joining the fray. We’re in sore need of someone to cover our asses out here General Solo. Hopefully you can get a few hits at that oscillator and do some extra damage.”

“Captain Arana I swear you used to be able to hit a target with your eyes closed, I’m pretty sure you don’t need me to do it for you.” It’s easy to fall back into the old banter he used to have with his squad, and it’s just so kriffing good to know that Iolo is still alive. Poe tries not to think about how any of his pilots have fallen during the last six months, if they survive there will be time to grieve later.

There’s silence from the other end and Poe uses it to focus on manoeuvring the Flacon so that Chewie can get the best shots and take out as many TIE’s as possible.

Iolo curses through the comm suddenly. “Kriff don’t let this be a dream, is that you Poe?”

“It’s me buddy, I’m sorry I was gone for so long.”

“We thought you were dead Poe.”

Poe can hear the pain in Iolo’s voice and it’s like a spear through is heart. He wishes he could have gotten word back that he was still alive but that just wasn’t possible. “I’m alive and angry, let’s take these bastards out.”

“Roger Black Leader.”

The fight goes on and as it does Poe notices that the sky is getting darker and darker, that can’t be a good sign. Suddenly he feels a pull and looks to the right just in time to see a series of explosions go off in what he assumes is the thermal oscillator. “Iolo cover me, I’m going in.” He yells back behind him toward Chewie. “Brace yourself and prepare to do a whole lot of firing Chewie.”

Wishing he were in an X-wing Poe turns the Falcon so that they can slip through the crack and hollers at Chewie to start firing at will. Once the explosions start he flies back out with a holler of victory as the oscillator lights up.

“Way to go Black Leader!”

Iolo’s congratulations crackle through the comm. “Thanks Iolo. Regroup with the rest of the squad and cover my back, I’ve got to pick up some strays.” To the twins he whispers. “I need you to help me find them and then we can get out of here and away from Kylo Ren.” He can feel their answering acknowledgement and then it’s like they’re urging him to look to the right and there! He can see two figures running in the snow, turning the Falcon he steers to the nearest open area. “Chewie we need to get Finn and Rey!”

It’s risky to be so out in the open, but by now the TIE fighters are concentrated more on fleeing than pursuing the Falcon or any of the Resistance X-Wings.

While he waits Poe glances down at the time noting that he still has ten minutes before Han and Luke are past their deadline. He’s not sure that the planet will last that long, he can already feel the planet quaking beneath the Falcon as he lands and waits for Finn and Rey to board.

“Did either of you see any sign of Luke or Han?” Poe asks them as they scramble on board and Rey slips into the seat next to him, he can hear Finn hurrying toward the location of the gunner stations. Both actions speak of a familiarity with the Falcon and Poe wonders, briefly, how that is.

“I can sense Master Luke; he’s near Kylo Ren somewhere inside the base still.” Rey is taking over most of the control of the Falcon and Poe is happy to let her, he’s not sure he can still fly her steady now that adrenaline seems to be running out.

He isn’t happy to hear that Luke and Han don’t appear to be out of danger. “Can you reach him? Let him know that he needs to get out now or the planet’s going to blow with him on it?”

Rey nods even though most of her concentration is on the Falcon. “Take control for a few minutes. I’m not so good as Master Luke that I can do this while my attention is focused elsewhere.”

Once Poe has the Falcon running steady, he glances over at Rey and watches as she closes her eyes and sits still. He hopes that Luke gets the message because this planet is going to blow very, very soon. Explosions are beginning to happen with greater frequency and Poe isn’t sure how much longer they’ll have if they don’t break the atmosphere immediately.

“There!” Ray points suddenly in the direction of the main part of the base. “They’re in a TIE fighter and are coming out to greet us.”

Poe hits the comm button fast. “All units this is the Falcon we have a friendly TIE do not shoot it.”

His voice over the channels ignites a chorus of agreements and several confused voices. Now’s not the time to reveal himself, it’s time to go. “Captain Arana give the order, it’s time to get everyone home.”

With Luke and Han trailing after them in the stolen TIE, Rey and Poe guide the Falcon away from the planet just in time. The sound of Starkiller Base exploding is almost deafening and sends shockwaves in all directions. Poe has to grab to the controls tightly when the Falcon starts rocking.

Over the comms he can hear the pilots and central command cheering as they makethe jump to lightspeed and are away.

-

Seeing D’Qar again brings tears to Poe’s eyes and he has to take a moment to compose himself, hands coming up to cover his face as he takes a few deep breaths. Finn settles a comforting hand on his shoulder while Rey and Chewie take the Falcon in to land.

“I’m okay.” Poe promises, “It’s just a little overwhelming is all.”

Finn nods but doesn’t say anything, and Poe appreciates his silent support. Once they’re on the ground Poe takes a steadying breath. He knows he’s not going to be able to walk down the ramp so he waits for Chewie to come and lift him up. It’s a little embarrassing but given the last six months he’s past feeling ashamed of himself.

As they exit the Falcon, Poe can hear everyone on base gathered on the tarmac cheering and celebrating their victory. He catches a glance of Luke and Han, both being embraced by Leia before the entire area goes quiet as Iolo shouts his name and rushes toward him and then the base is a different sort of chaos as people crowd around him eagerly to ensure that he is really alive and also to find out what’s going on.

They don’t really get a chance because Poe is swiftly carted off to medbay by Chewie and spends the better part of the next few days there so that Doctor Kalonia can monitor his health and the health of the twins.

Being confined to medbay doesn’t stop the necessity of a debriefing and a day after his return General Organa pays hi a visit, Luke and Han in tow and Poe tells them everything.

Explaining what has happened to him during the last six months to people you have grown up around, who are the relatives of the person who tortured you, is not an easy thing and Poe cries freely during the tale. Leia’s arms wrap around him and she holds him tightly, petting his back and hair to help calm him.

Poe knows that the three of them will accept Poe and the children as party of the family with open arms. It’s comforting. He also knows that he’s going to have to get in touch with his father, tell him that he’s alive and what’s happened. Somehow that feels like the more difficult task he has to face in the immediate future.

-

Poe doesn’t look up from where he’s leaning against BB-8 when Luke comes to sit next to him on the grass. While Poe had escaped the celebrations to get some fresh air, BB-8 ever his loyal guardian had followed after him, he knows that Luke is here for a different reason.

Even before the older man opens his mouth, Poe is aware of what he is going to say so he says it for him. “Ren isn’t dead, I think I would have felt it if he was.” Somehow he isn’t sure that it’ll just be through the babies either, Poe had always had a sense of Ben in the past. After spending so many months away with Kylo Ren and to suddenly be away from him, Poe can still feel a sense of him in the back of his mind.

Luke nods and Poe can feel him looking at him sadly. “We both know that my nephew will not give up until he finds you again. Especially now that. . .” Luke’s voice trails off and he hesitates before placing a hand on Poe’s stomach once Poe’s nodded his consent. “They’re going to be strong in the Force. I’m sorry for that Poe, for all of this. I failed them and you as much as I failed Ben for not seeing the signs.”

“Ben’s choices weren’t your fault Uncle Luke.” Poe says honestly, turning to look at the man. “But we’re not going to allow someone like Snoke to get into the heads of my children.” Poe knows all about Snoke and what he did to Ben. “We’re going to learn from the mistakes of the past so that they don’t repeat in the future. I’m not Force Sensitive so I’m going to have to count on you and Auntie Leia to help me.”

“We’ll be here every step of the way Poe.”

The promise is solemn and Poe nods, offering Luke a tight hug before turning back to look up at the stars. He doesn’t know what’s going to happen in the future but he makes a promise to himself to always keep his little ones safe and to never have them doubt that they are loved.

The song that Poe sings to the babies is "Lullaby for a Stormy Night" by Vienna Teng, a song that I really love. I hope you all enjoyed, it's nice to write something that doesn't have a horribly depressing ending for once. I left it a little open because who knows, maybe I'll visit this series again and add more to it.

The first story is up on AO3 already - https://archiveofourown.org/works/6862576
I'll pose this second story up once I've gotten it all edited and making sense.

DEVASTATING. Gorgeous. Incredible. I have no more words, but this is possibly the best fic I've read on this site. Or maybe it's just that it hits all my kinks? Um. Either way, 10/10 would recommend, so glad you extended this. Would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see even more, all the way, anything else you want to add. All of the Poe Dameron hurting pretty and trying to figure out how to move/waddle with a pregnant stomach and dealing with the aftermath of brutal rape. (I mean, he can't walk because of stomach and having been chained to a bed for six months, but also...) Thanks for updating this fic!

FILL - Ben/Poe, Hux/Kylo - Kylo Ren is a double agent for the Resistance - (3d/?)

(Anonymous) 2016-05-18 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
"I hope you're as concerned as I am," Anakin whispers, although it isn't as if Hux, who sleeps beside Ben curled up on his side like a small child, can hear him.

I am, Ben murmurs. It's only at Obi-Wan's pointed stare that he realizes he's been drawing his fingers back and forth across the pale expanse of Hux's back. He fears stopping will rouse the light sleeper, so he continues sheepishly. Starkiller is complete, merely waiting for the command to begin testing...

"To think there might be a catastrophe as great as Alderaan several times over...," Obi-Wan says, stroking his beard. "I fear it may devastate you, Ben." He casts a glance to Anakin, whose eyes bear a glimmer of guilt.

Anakin hums in thought, fingers clenching and unclenching the hems of his sleeves. "I wonder... would you be able to get the schematics of Starkiller to the Resistance? The Rebels were able to destroy the Death Star because they had stolen the plans. I don't suppose you're familiar enough with its design to relay to them its weak points."

Admittedly, Ben had presumed Snoke's preoccupation with the Force and molding Kylo Ren to be his perfect apprentice had meant that Starkiller would be shafted for the Knights of Ren's growth, but clearly he was wrong. I'm afraid not. Hux has the original blueprints, but any that were on the Finalizer drives were erased for fear of the Resistance's access to them, especially in the wake of FN-2187's defection. He looks over at the datapad lain on top of a meticulously uniform.

It takes a bit of finagling to reach over Hux without disturbing him, but Ben manages to Force-pull the datapad to him.

"You think he'd carry it with him?" asks Anakin. "The general's not that much of a workaholic, is he?"

He'd be working while screwing me silly if I'd let him, Ben mutters, scrolling through Hux's files. He catches himself, hoping he doesn't blush too hard as he looks up to meet Anakin's amused gaze. Sorry - too much.

"Quite," agrees Obi-Wan.

As expected, everything on Hux's datapad is carefully sorted, categorized by priority and even, to his childish glee, color-coded. "How convenient," Ben chuckles. He then realizes his voice cuts through the serene quiet, devoid of the ship's constant soothing hum.

Hux stirs, rolling over to butt his head into Ben's ribcage. "What are you doing?" he slurs. He sits up slowly and blinks. "Is that my datapad?"

Ben quickly opens the newest report from the bridge. Luckily for him, it's a feasible five minutes old. "Just doing your job for you," Ben whispers fondly. He reaches over to brush his fingers through Hux's hair, making the ginger scowl. "Go back to sleep."

"I have to work," Hux grumbles, snatching the datapad from Ben's open hand. "Pfassk, I can't believe you let me sleep that long." He starts to get up, but Ben pushes him down firmly. "Ren -"

He's shut up with a kiss as Ben straddles his chest. "No, you need to sleep," he mumbles against Hux's lips. "I'll go down to the bridge, run things myself."

"You?" Such incredulity. Ben's almost hurt.

"My mother is a general, you know. I was an Endor baby. I've seen people running ships my whole life." He pecks Hux's protests away, holding the general down with the Force. "Ah-ah, too late. I'm already getting up and, unfortunately, getting dressed." He wriggles his pants on playfully, earning him an exasperated by amused chuckle. "Remember, Hux - sleep."

The sound of his door sliding shut is accompanied with Hux's laugh. "Yes, mother."

Stalking around the bridge is simultaneously his favorite and least favorite thing to do. His childhood megalomania shrieks with joy any time he gets the opportunity to scare the Finalizer's officers, but his adulthood maturity makes him feel sympathetic towards those he frightens. Without Hux around, the general atmosphere of fear spikes immensely.

He paces back and forth, working up a frenzy with his movement. He feels Datoo's eyes on him, shifting glances from Unamo and her neighbor, and when he stops in front of a console, a sole presence dares to approach. Kylo Ren offers only a turn of his head as acknowledgment. The man is small, shaking. He clearly dreads his task. Kylo's helmet limits the use of his peripheral vision, but he catches the lieutenant's name as he mentally chants it and his serial number in preparation for the likely unfavorable news he must deliver to the Knight.

"Sir," Lieutenant Mitaka begins, "we were unable to acquire the droid on Jakku."

Kylo Ren remains wordless as he looks at Mitaka.

Chin quivering, Mitaka continues, "It escaped capture aboard a stolen Corellian YT model freighter."

It couldn't be... Ben had been forced to loan his father a First Order freighter in place of the one he'd lost. The thought of the bureaucratic and logistical nightmare it had been to give a First Order freighter to Han Solo in secret was enough to give him a headache. Instead, he settles for sarcasm. "The droid... stole a freighter?"

"Not exactly, sir. It had help>"

Help on Jakku. FN-2187, surely, but Poe? Dare he even think it - Rey? She'd certainly be old enough. Kylo Ren does not deign to say anything, knowing his silence speaks volumes.

Mitaka clears his throat. "We have no confirmation, but we believe FN-2187 may have been helped in the escape -"

(Anakin raises his arms like a conductor.)

Kylo Ren ignites his saber and slashes away at the console. All that resounds in his section of the bridge is a chorus of creaking metal and sparks flying around him, smoke billowing from the poor machinery. He doesn't know what the console is for, but the giant holes in it now make it clear it's not going to do anything else from then on out.

(More, hisses Anakin. Try to split the hull!)

Nothing is left of the console but red lines scored into the melted metal. A few buttons blink painfully, but the apparatus remains otherwise unresponsive. Five year-old Ben is greatly satisfied at the breadth of his destruction - living up to the name of the ahistorical Darth Caedus indeed. Kylo halts his huffing, giving a slight incline of his head. "Anything else?"

Mitaka audibly gulps. "The two were accompanied by a girl."

Rey. It has to be. It isn't even a conscious decision of Ben's to have Kylo Ren Force choke Mitaka, but Anakin seems to think otherwise, giving his triumphant applause. Kylo's shockangersurprise is genuine, and he squeezes the struggling Mitaka's throat even tighter.

Part of him is overjoyed at the confirmation of Rey's existence, but he's also deeply concerned. How did she even get the Falcon, let alone be able to pilot it alone? Little Ben always had Uncle Chewie and his long arms to help out, but FN-2187 had to be the gunner - there was no way they'd be able to evade an Order TIE fighter squadron alone - they had to shoot some down, and even piloting the freighter skillfully enough to get a number of clear shots? Alone? Impossible.

"What girl?" demands Kylo Ren. Ben just wants to be sure.

Mitaka is dropped on his feet, clutching at his throat as he fights to take in air. "A-a scavenger, we believe," he wheezes, "we can't be sure, sir -"

Kylo hoists him up, resting a firm hand on his throat and pooling energy into it. Ben knows his healing Mitaka will destroy the effect he'd spent the last five minutes creating, but he considers this a reward for him giving the correct answer. No officer that Kylo Ren has assaulted has lived to tell the tale. Mitaka will be the first.

To Ben's immense luck, Hux steps onto the bridge just in time to witness Kylo Ren's act of mercy. His brows pull together in consternation, but he makes no comment on the uncharacteristic kindness. Ben is sure that Hux has noted it. "Ren," Hux calls, like an annoyed owner hoping to cull his pet, "we have an audience." He casts a glance to the nearest communications officer. "Is the holochamber prepared?"

"Yes, sir."

At the cocksure turn of Hux's head, Kylo follows. He doesn't look back, but senses Mitaka's gratitude and files it away in his memory. Hux remains silent as they walk to the assembly chamber.

I wish you'd tell me what you're thinking, Kylo says quietly. He notes with dissatisfaction that Hux ignores the sensation of hand-holding Kylo attempts to impress upon him. Aodhan?

I'm thinking that we may be in trouble. Hux peeks at him through his periphery. The fact we let a simple droid get away with the single most important piece of information in the galaxy will not be lost on Him. As he reaches forward to key in the code for the assembly room, Ben sees that he's shaking. Let's just hope I'm not as expendable as you like to say I am.

Aodhan -

Shh.

Kylo bows his head in respect as he trails behind Hux. His death was nothing to joke about - they'll discuss the black humor later. "Supreme Leader," they greet in unison. Snoke's gaze is heavy on Kylo's shoulders. They have not spoken often - not since the days Kylo has been on the Finalizer and his search for Skywalker began in earnest. Any correspondence they'd had featured Hux's presence. Ben hopes that Snoke is not bothered by the absence of Kylo's requests for guidance.

"Raise your head, Kylo Ren," Snoke commands. Kylo dares to look up at Him, and sees a mixture of disappointment and interest. It is never a good look on Him, and it's probably a good thing that Kylo behaves so nervously. "The droid will soon be delivered to the Resistance, leading them to the last Jedi. If Skywalker returns, the new Jedi will rise."

Kylo opens his mouth to protest, but Hux cuts him off. "Supreme Leader, I take full responsibility for th -"

"General!" The Supreme Leader's voice echoes around the chamber, earsplitting and thundering. At Hux's wince, Ben reaches out clandestinely through the Force to rub gentle circles on his back. "Our strategy must now change."

Hux steels himself, eyes flicking quickly to Kylo then back to Snoke. "The weapon. It is ready. I believe the time has come to use it. We shall destroy the government that supports the Resistance, the Republic. Without their friends to protect them, the Resistance will be vulnerable, and we will stop them before they reach Skywalker."

Ben freezes, not daring to look at Hux and display the incredulity and fear storming inside. Both Snoke and Hux were well aware that Kylo Ren had despised Starkiller Base from the very beginning, and for a while it seemed as though Snoke was on Kylo's side. But Ben knows that death-like consternation well. Snoke passes the threshold of consideration, is about to set foot into agreement.

(I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror, and were suddenly silenced.)

After seeing how profoundly great loss of life had affected Ben, Anakin and Obi-Wan had added something new to his curriculum - sensory dampening. They'd have to speed it along, if Snoke were to give the okay for Starkiller's destruction of the New Republic. If Ben had his way, he'd destroy Starkiller himself.

"Go," says Snoke, and Ben shatters. "Oversee preparations."

"Yes, Supreme Leader." Hux's look is nothing more than a petulant, childish 'in your face.' If only he knew the devastation he was going to enact on the galaxy. Kylo doesn't watch his general exit.

Snoke huffs through His deformed nose, a loud sound. "There's been an awakening. Have you felt it?"

"Yes," he says. Rey, he means.

The Supreme Leader's eyes flash, tentatively poking at Kylo's mind. Kylo opens up, tossing aside his previous thought, but is disconcerted at the near softness by which Snoke demands entry. "There's something more. The droid we seek is aboard the Millennium Falcon. In the hands of your father, Han Solo."

Kylo grits his teeth. "He means nothing to me," he insists.

"Even you," Snoke says, "master of the Knights of Ren, have never faced such a test."

"By the grace of your training, I will not be seduced." Ben lays his eyes on Anakin, who sits squarely in the middle of Snoke's head, illuminating the Supreme Leader's face with blue. Anakin nods at him.

Snoke mirrors the action unknowingly, seemingly convinced. "We shall see. We shall see."

Kylo Ren spins quickly on his heel and exits the chamber. Hux waits for him outside and moves to take his forearm. Ben steps away, refusing to look at him. Traitor! his posture screams.

"Ren," Hux murmurs, grabbing hold of him. "Just remember, this is for us. When the Resistance and Republic are crushed, you and I will be given leave to do as we please as rulers of the galaxy. The war will be over. Our galaxy, our empire will belong to its rightful monarchs."

Kylo glares at him, all venom through black transparisteel. "Your galaxy, your empire, would sooner be dust."

(OP) Oh my God this is a hell of an update. I FELT A LOT OF THINGS DURING THIS CHAPTER. But before that, one thing I think I forgot to mention in one of my last replies is that I really love how you weave the on-screen moments together with the off-screen ones; they flow together extraordinarily well, and that's still going strong here!

Anyway.

So admittedly my first thoughts during the first part of the chapter were, "this is going to end so badly, Ben my darling, oh God." I am just soooooo apprehensive about how Ben/Kylo's relationship to Hux is going to throw a spanner in Ben's double agent activities. (If it hasn't already somehow.)

And then I started giggling over Ben's inner six-year old being petty and easily delighted with the terror of the officers.

AND THEN YOU WROTE THIS:

(Anakin raises his arms like a conductor.)

I legit started laughing like a hyena. That line is probably my favorite thing in the entire fill so far. Oh my God, I love it. I fucking love it.

(Also, Mitaka. I have such a huge soft-spot for him. Poor darling.)

AAAAAaaaaaaaaaand the meeting with Snoke. My sense of foreboding doom immediately lit up and started shouting, BAD THINGS COMING BAD THINGS COMING OOOOHHHH BOY WE GOT BAD THINGS COMING FURTHER DOWN THE LINE. I am a ball of anxiety over what's going to happen we get deeper into the events of the movie.

That last, though. OUCH. It's Kylo talking, but it's definitely fueled by Ben's own horror, too, I think. Hell of thing to say, still, and I'm more than a gleefully delighted that Kylo got the last word in on that particular subject.

As always, an awesome update, and I look forward to the next one!

What Happens on Vega... 3/?

Thank you for your lovely comments!

I'm sorry it took me forever and a day to update! Life got in the way... To make up for this, you get some smut this time - the prompt did ask for Kylo being very taken with his sexy husband and I live to provide!

Chapter 3: Is This Wedded Bliss?

The infuriating man just looked at 87, as if he hadn’t just said something so outrageous he might as well have declared himself a Hutt Lord.

“I married you,” he said, voice tight with the patronizing patience reserved for particularly young or stupid cadets.

87 decided that the officer – his officer – was somewhat of a jerk.

“Captain Phasma’s going to have me scrub toilets till I die,” he groaned, and buried his head in his hands.

Something silver glinting on his finger caught his attention. On closer inspection, 87 discovered it to be an unadorned, plain ring. It looked off, like it was just a piece of scrap metal twisted into ring shape. 87 only knew weddings from holobooks, Stormtroopers couldn’t get married, but he had read enough books to know a wedding ring when he saw it.

“I don’t think that’s regulation,” 87 said mournfully. He felt far too numb with shock to muster up the outrage he knew he should be feeling. “Getting married isn’t regulation either.” His face fell another notch. “I’m going to be scrubbing toilets forever and ever!”

“It’s not like I wanted to!” the other man snapped, and finally bothered to sit up properly. The sheet slipped lower, and 87 made the mistake of looking, which had him catching sight of a tantalizing trail of dark hair that disappeared behind white cloth pooled in his lap. 87 decided to meet the man’s disturbingly intense eyes. They were a slightly less nerve-wrecking sight.

He regretted it as soon as he looked up, for the officer was angry. Really angry, face twisted into some ugly cross between a snarl and a sneer, and he looked like he wanted to hurt someone. Not very reassuring when you were the only other person in the room.

“It’s Hux’s fault,” he growled, “he thought humiliation would humble me.” He snorted. “Get me drunk, make me wed and bed a Stormtrooper.”

87 gulped against the hurt suddenly welling up in him. He didn’t even know this man and didn’t know if he would want to know him, but people were rarely ever so blunt in their rejection of him. His squad mostly just shunned him silently.

“I’m a cadet,” 87 offered tentatively. He could only hope the man wouldn’t notice how shaky he sounded, or at least not pretend to care.

The man stared at him for long moments. He snorted. “That doesn’t make it better.” He still sounded angry, but more frustrated-angry in general than angry at 87 specifically.

87 looked at him again. The man… his husband was a couple of years older, late twenties to 87’s early twenties. He was uncouth, but not outright cruel. He was also very, very handsome, and important enough for General Hux to torment him personally. FN-2187 didn’t know a lot about marriage, but he figured this might be what the holobooks called a good catch.

“You’re taking this very calmly,” 87 pointed out.

The man’s expression shifted till it seemed awkwardly stuck between a smile and a frown. “I don’t often get called out for being too calm. You’re an odd one, aren’t you?”

87 shrugged sheepishly. “I’m just thinking, if it were me, I would be pretty mad. But I’m glad you’re not mad. With me, that is.” Being mad with Hux was okay, because if 87 let himself think about it, he would be mad, too. It was his job to follow orders, but being toyed with in some quarrel of his higher-ups went beyond that.

He picked up an edge of the sheet they’d slept under, and worried at a loose thread. “I’m going to be in trouble. Stormtroopers aren’t allowed to get married. And we aren’t supposed to sleep with officers either.” Or with anyone, really. People being people it happened all the time, of course. The fraternization, that was, not the getting married. He grimaced. “I’m going to be in trouble for drinking, too. How did that happen anyway?”

The man heaved an irritable sigh. “Why don’t you let me take care of all the trouble you believe you’re in and make the best of the time we have.” He cradled 87’s hands in his. They were calloused, just like in his memories, but held his gently. The tug he gave him was just as gentle, cajoling rather than demanding.

87 shook his head slightly, even as he wondered what the officer’s hands would feel like exploring his body. 87 didn’t have a lot of experience, being an outcast, but he didn’t feel shy in a bad way, just excited, nervous. “I don’t even know your name…”

His wry smile twisted with bitterness as he said, “it’ll come back to you. I want you to stay with me until it does.”

What an odd request.

87 never got to question it before warm lips found his own. His kiss was harsh, demanding. 87 remembered it like this from last night. Uncouth, but not cruel.

He had barely had time to adjust to the tongue fucking his mouth before large rough hands slipped under 87’s ass and hauled him forward onto the man’s lap.

87’s arms wrapped around his neck of their own accord. It seemed his body remembered. The sheet was gone, he felt a hard cock slide along his scrotum and for a panicky moment he thought the man would just push 87 down on his cock without any preparation at all.

“No,” he breathed, “don’t be afraid. I won’t hurt you.”

87 stifled a moan against the man’s lips. Maybe there was a thin line between being terrified and aroused.

A slick finger teased his hole without any warning at all, making 87 squeak and tense up. He instinctively tried to escape the probing finger, which had him pressing himself flush against the man’s chest. When exactly had he fetched the lube anyway?

There was a growl, he could have sworn it sounded pleased, and teeth nipped harder at his lips. The finger pushed past his ring of muscles and it was almost too fast too much but there was nowhere to go but push back and impale himself further. 87’s head fell back as he gave himself wholly to the sensation. His hips rotated as he sought that spot deep within him that had driven him to screams of pleasure last night.

His officer made for a beautiful sight, mad and mad with lust, face twisted into something so intense it could have been mistaken for fury…

…and he was back last night, that same handsome face twisted in fury, only fury, gloved hands wrapping around General Hux’s throat and squeezing, the General turning purple…

87 tore himself away from the man’s embrace before he had so much as registered what was happening. He slipped to his knees on the floor, hand going for the blaster he had spied earlier.

“You tried to kill the General!” he yelled as he lifted the blaster. “Last night, you…!”

There was the same fury as last night on the man’s face. Now, he did want to hurt him.

87 rose to his feet at the same time as a metal cylinder flew into the man’s hand.

Red light shot out of the silver handle, shaping itself into a plasma blade.

87 tumbled backwards till his back hit the wall, he was fumbling with his suddenly far too slippery blaster.

“Oh kriff, you’re a Jedi!”

Kylo's reaction was the best thing.
Ren wanting to be with Finn until he remembers him UGGGGGHH.
Ren's murder tendencies came bacj to bit him and stop him to get laid.
I didn't actually fear for Finn's safety until “Oh kriff, you’re a Jedi!” happened.
