Hope you don't mind me butting in after all this time (and since I was going to ask this same thing anyway, haha)

So far, I've been thinking Leia as a Ravenclaw, Luke as a Hufflepuff, Han as a Slytherin, Kylo as a Slytherin, Rey as a Hufflepuff... and everyone else I'm still settling on, lol

For Finn, I don't feel like he's really the brave, gallant Gryffindor type, and I'm leaning towards the idea that helping to destroy Starkiller Base (and everyone on it) disqualifies him from Hufflepuff's loyalty. (And he doesn't seem to be one way or the other wrt Ravenclaw.) So I'm... eh... tentatively leaning toward Slytherin for him, because even if he wasn't good at lying, he still tried (and made himself out to be a big-shot, too). Actually, the more I'm thinking about it, the more I'm less hesitant. The loyalty flip is in no way out of character for this house, and if everything after Rey was captured doesn't qualify as "use any means to achieve [his] ends", I don't know what does. Slytherin!Finn? Anyone?

Fanon!Poe I love, but canon!Poe I don't feel like I have quite enough info on to sort just yet. Likely Gryffindor, but according to... what is it, a book? That people got all this extra info from? Isn't he supposed to be like, a spy, first and foremost? So it could be he's a mildly anomalous Slytherin (think Hermione the Gryffindor, who exhibits mostly Ravenclaw traits until pressed).

And for Hux, Ravenclaw or Slytherin, not sure which.

Most actively, The Hobbit RPF (my first kinkmeme love, sigh♥). Also, always at least dipping my toes in Harry Potter and Sailor Moon. Plenty of others, on and off. Perpetually denying being in the Supernatural fandom because I don't write for it and have never watched the show, but became familiar with it due to a tumblr I follow, who also happens to do great fic recs and write brilliant fics herself... plus the RPF, too. I have no excuse. Oops.

my favorite comments to get as an author point out something the reader really liked about the story. any comments are good, of course, but it's nice when people tell you specific things that engaged them about something i wrote.

Poe's supposed to be a pilot first and foremost. One of the tie-in books says he's an awful liar and too impatient when he has to wait to finish a job, which I think would make him a terrible spy lmao.

It was so good, I was ruined for other fic in the same fandom for almost a year and a half.

Sometimes I feel like I'm filling too much. Maybe I claimed a prompt that someone else could have done a better job with, but didn't bother because they saw someone else had started writing it!

(Which is silly. I know it's silly.)

I have a hard time commenting for whatever reason, so I just try to pick out at least one thing I enjoyed and highlight that. Like "I really enjoyed this. This bit, in particular, stood out!"

That was pretty blunt on the previous poster's part. But in fairness, "I don't get this pairing, explain your enjoyment of it to me" questions, no matter the original intention, do often feel more like "I don't like this pairing, justify you enjoyment of it to me" statements.

NA agrees and thinks this meme has a habit of asking those questions an awful lot.

Out of curiosity, why those two? I don't think I've ever seen them together. I've heard Oscar had a really long time relationship (about a decade), but I think the girlfriend he was seen with at the Globes was someone else?

Another anon here, tbh I don't think they find it THAT often. Unless they actively search (I could imagine guys like RDJ to do that haha) or someone points it out to them... Graham Norton did show some fanfic stuff (including RPF) to some actors like Hiddleston, Radcliffe aaaand of course McAvoy and Fassbender: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrwnzT8vK0w (IMO they reacted really nice, funny and adorable about it, although I know that some people felt huge second hand embarassment watching this apparently)

I also remember reading that Ian McKellen said he doesn't find it harmful since it's clearly fictional (you can probably google it, I think there's even a wikipedia article about it). I think most actors try to steer clear of fanfic in general and especially this kind of thing though, and who can blame them. xD

I really want to write something before I ask for anything again since I've left 3 prompts, but whenever I get to the 500 word range, I just end up deleting everything. I feel the stress is so much worst when you are writing for someone else, and not just for yourself. And as a non native speaker I feel even worse about disappointing the OP. So any good things you guys do to avoid this. I've even been tempted to just snatch one of my own prompts that what of sucks at least I'll only disappoint myself, lol.

Also, unrelated, any good ways to search the archive outside of the delicious account? I really want to see of there has been more "time crash" prompts. I have only really found one, but because you can't really search character or movie tags in the delicious account, just pairings I am not really having any luck.

I just want an excuse to see/write (an older) Luke and Kylo meeting a young Anakin.

The LOTR cast was pretty well aware of it back in the day, but that was when RPF was becoming part of "mainstream fandom", so it was pretty harmless. Before then it was mostly an underground fandom activity or RPF was disguised as "original" fiction.

Though, IIRC, there were some lawsuits in the mid-1990s over RPF.

Whenever I write in a new fandom, I always fill one of my own prompts on an anon meme. It's a nice way to get the feel of the fandom and the characters, and because it's my own prompt, I don't feel as much pressure.

If you're really worried about being a non-native speaker, you could find a beta, but don't worry about it too much. A lot of my favorite fics are written by non-native speakers who have a better command of English than most native speakers.

So, go ahead and fill one of your own prompts. It'll probably relieve the stress of filling someone else's prompt.

Just curious to see how long everyone stays with their fandoms.

Anything between a month and a couple of years, depending on how invested I am, the amount of source material on offer, and how large and active the fandom is: larger fandoms tend to hold my interest for longer because there is more fic and more new activity in general. My average length of stay in one fandom is probably five months, thinking about it.

I do have some fandoms that I never totally fall out of love with: they stay in the background for months or years, then suddenly something will re-trigger my interest in them and they will erupt back into my life. Kinda like herpes.

Movie fandoms tend to last about 6 months, but that seems to be the timeframe when all the good, popular fic is posted, so there's not much beyond that.

I figure I'll lose interest in TFA fic when X-Men Apocalypse and Cap 3 come out since I'll have old fandoms reawakening with new fic.
