NA, but the first wank I ever saw regarding the need for such a rule was on the Inception kink meme back in 2010.

I'd also think the Hetalia Wars of late 2008-early 2009 would have something to do with it too.

A couple Civil Rights Movement and segregation AUs have been floating around tumblr lately and there was one posted on AO3 a few days ago that was apparently focused on the white savior trope and the fic had author's tags that were very out of touch and ignorant.

There's a lot of racial drama playing out on tumblr right now, mostly centering around two things: 1. people who are still uncomfortable with a white woman/black man; 2. whitewashing Poe or handwaving the fact that he's Latino by saying he can pass for white.

I can't say I'm surprised that people are writing romantic fics set against tragic historical events since this has always been a problem in fandom.

I'd add Supernatural to the list as well, especially the Jared/Jensen fic about the 2010 Haiti earthquake.
