Poe takes Finn back to Yavin IV to meet Kes the two of them hit it off. Like, a lot. Like, way more than anyone (Poe) wanted.

Basically, Poe finds himself slowly descending into (hilarious) despair as he's increasingly convinced that the guy he's been crushing on HARD has a higher possibility of becoming his stepdad than his boyfriend.

Meanwhile, Finn read somewhere that it's a good idea to get along with the family members of the person you're trying to court. That's why he's turning on ALL the charm he possesses in order to win Kes Dameron over to before he finally asks Poe out.

As for Kes, he's talked with Poe on holovid enough times by now to know that Finn is THE ONE, and he's doing his damndest to make Finn becoming his son in law a reality. (He wants tons of adorable adopted grandbabies before he dies, thanks.)
