All the Knights of Ren are rescue dogs.
Rey and Finn and Mitaka are the volunteers at the animal shelter looking after them.

Ahaha, imagine Finn trying to walk all seven dogs at once, or just getting mobbed by dopey hell hounds every time he tries to leave the room with their fave orange-and-white ball. Cat Hux would boss Mitaka around, judging him, climbing up trees and getting stuck just to test Mitaka's problem solving skills, but will dig his claws into any filthy canines who think they can mess with Hux's minion. Ren would always be taking Rey's stuff and burying it somewhere, destroying the gardens, and whenever she throws a stick for him to fetch he'd refuse to give it back. "Drop it, Kylo! Drop. It. Don't break it!! God, you need a trainer."
