Gen or Finn/Poe - Reincarnated Spiritual Leader

A variation on Space-Prince!Finn and Force-sensitive!Finn...

Prior to being taken by the First Order, Finn was identified at birth as the reincarnated spiritual leader of some scattered by wide-spread galactic culture (maybe space nomads). After being taken from the temple, the First Order used the placement of this stolen holy figure among their ranks as a means to demoralize his people. By keeping him alive, the Order deprived them of the hope for another incarnation of their leader, and his position among their soldiers discouraged his people from fighting back directly.

Years later, Finn's defection makes members of this group curious, and instead of Finn going looking for his past, his past finds him. Eventually the reemergence of their holy leader spurs Finn's people into throwing their support wholeheartedly behind the Resistance.

Bonus:
+ If Finn trains as a Force-user, it isn't as the "standard" Jedi, but something unique to his former culture.
+ The tried and true trope of Storm Troopers following Finn into rebellion happens too, making FN-2187 officially the worst mistake the First Order ever made.
