The Resistance has gotten intel on a First Order base that doesn't appear on any official report, and that none of the lower rank officers they have interrogated know about. After much planning, they raid the base, because whatever the F.O is hidding there must be supper important of it's so secret.
They didn't expect to find a six year old kid in a spartan room. The kid has obviously been fed the party line, quickly proves to be a Force user when they startle him, looks to be about 6 years old, and oh kriff guys don't you think he kind of looks like the General..?

When they bring him back to the base, Leia and Han are reunited with their son, who obviously has no idea who they are and has only ever known the First Order. They decide not to overwhelm him by telling him they are his parents, that he was kidnapped, etc. Still, they bring him home, take care of him, slowly pulling him out of the child grooming the FO has inflicted upon him.

Little Kylo has no idea why the head of the Resistance scum and her nerf hearder husband have welcomed him in their home, but he shall play along so long as they keep tucking him in at night with a kiss and their pet Wookie allows himself to be climbed on.

Feel free to play around with the timeline ; Finn, Rey and Poe can be adults if you want.

Bonus for it being in Ben's point of view.
