Hux Sr coached his son to use all means available to him to get ahead, including his good looks. Hux Jr is very close to reaching his goal to become emperor all for the price of an exclusive relationship with Snoke when he meets Kylo and falls in love.

Seconding! Even though it's just the straightforward plot being prompted, I secretly hope they can still somehow traipse around inside an elephant-shaped building, singing fighting about truth, beauty, freedom, and order.
