Personally prefer kylux, just so Kylo will do everything to inconvenience Hux's replacements and get his general back. (And you know the crew will help;)

But somehow, Snoke was the frigging highlight of the day, inconvenienced old man indeed; at least he knew 'the red one' gets results. Fast.

And maybe this Snoke is actually decent for a bad guy and knows it wasn't the general's entire fault...?

OP here -- heck yeah, Kylux would work out well for this, haha. And I have a huge soft spot for the crew genuinely liking their weirdo general.

As for Snoke -- just imo, I don't want to encumber any potential fillers! -- I think it would be less decency and more like-- like Starkiller was a means to an end, or even more specifically a opportune thing that Snoke could do with or without. Which is how I headcanon he views the Order; he is most interested in his own projects and just happens to ally with them for expedience and the fact that their interests align. I also soft headcanon that Hux is his primary liaison and he tends to avoid speaking directly with much of the Order (gotta keep up that aura of mystery and inscrutability! Plus ugh, talking with people who aren't even a little force sensitive, how taxing, gotta limit that to one or two of the plebs).

So he would know this was obviously a huge blow to the FO, but it wouldn't be that huge to HIM, personally. The Republic was largely still shut down, and it's unfortunate the Resistance got the map, but ultimately it's not a death blow as he still has all his game pieces on the board. Hux is the lesser of many evils, competent, and Snoke knows how to manipulate him/play him off Kylo Ren for optimal results. It takes time and energy to figure that out, and Snoke strikes me as someone who doesn't like all that grooming to go to waste. Plus, y'know, nobody consulted him about removing Hux, which is just insulting. He'll let the Order play their little political games but they shouldn't think they can just sidestep him because he takes a more 'backseat driving' approach to empires. He'll throw his weight in when he feels it, and he feels it now.

He's a little like those old folks who come in to a restaurant and demand the same server every time, come hell or high water, because it is convenient and comfortable to them.

So I guess... "This is different and I don't like it." I mean, stars, there are so many of these little skittering humans and they all dress the same and all think the same little ticking thoughts in their little ticking machines, how is he supposed to pick out a new one when he JUST got one set up how he liked ugh....

Good point. (And you can ramble on if you like, you wrote the prompt after all.) But Snoke could have (secretly) preferred Hux (vs his predecesors) for a reason Kylo may have liked about Hux too (i.e. Hux's mind is organized and actually soothing compared to the mess of thoughts of the rest of the incompetent Order officers---he needs a breather from dealing with Kylo and knights esp. when he's too busy plotting to meditate:)

Demanding the same sever every time... Now my mind is taken over with images of Hux grumbling as he has to go get Snoke a latté XD
