So I have two jobs. One is as an elementary-school teacher, and I just got a really terrifying mental image of Kylo and Hux in charge of some first graders. So.

Restaurant!AU: The First Order and the Resistance are absolutely rival chains working on the same street, sending random employees in to spy on each other's menus, stealing staff, etc. Leia is the GM at the Resistance store. It's a family-owned place, very tight-knit. Everyone has been there for years and gets along. She's tough, but supportive, and her staff loves her enough that they would follow her a through Free Kids Meal Sunday Lunch and back. Han is the boss' ex-husband, who doesn't actually work there, but comes in to scrounge free drinks and food, and flirt with the bartenders when he thinks he can get away with it. Everyone lets him because they know Leia still has a soft spot for him, and because he tells great stories. Poe is their flair line cook, who can make a pile of last night's leftover ingredients into a miracle on a plate. You want a well-done ribeye that's still tender and juicy? HE CAN DO THAT AND IT WILL BE AMAZING. When Finn quits his dishwasher job at the First Order, he wanders over to the Resistance to drown his sorrows and gets roped into a job when he tries to impress Cute Waitress Rey with stories about how he was the head chef at the First Order.

The First Order is the strict, by-the-book corporate chain, with protocols out the ass and an owner that no one except Overworked Manager Hux has ever actually seen. There are rumors that the owner is actually in the mafia and that they are a front. Everyone is too afraid to ask if it's true. They go through staff like some people go through underwear- no one bothers learning anyone else's name until they've been there at least two months. They just go by employee numbers. Phasma is the BOH manager, and she runs her crew with an iron fist. God help you if you don't prep enough broccoli or if you try to sneak a piece of cake without her noticing. She will notice. And she will find you. Kylo Ren is the head line cook, who would be amazing at his job if he could stop having screaming meltdowns and punching boxes of frozen chicken in the walk-in cooler every time someone tries to modify one of his dishes.
