So, Hux has the old Empire's values, and while his parents' marriage was more one of convenience than anything, there was still an amount of courtship involved. Like protocole. Hux likes protocole.

So, when it becomes obvious that his relationship with Ren is no longer *just* hate sex, he decides to court him. Because Hux does things right or doesn't do them at all (and he really wants to do Ren, so...) So gifts, hand kisses, escorting Ren back to his room, etc. It's all there. Kylo doesn't mind at all. He really likes being the focus of so much attention, and yes maybe he is touched so what, he can have nice things!

Really, the only ones who have a problem with it are all the soldiers aboard the Finalize. Not that the General cannot do as he pleases, or that there is anything wrong with it, but watching it all happen is so surreal it kind of breaks their mind a little.

Bonus:
+ Even more mind breaking is the fact the Hux and Ren act all proper for the courtship during the day, and at night engage in the kinkiest sex anyone has ever heard of.

Kylo: My father... has recently passed. I hope my mother will soon follow suit. You?

It's fun imagining what Imperial courtship might involve. Poetry? Dancing? Celebrating Palpatine's birthday -- the most romantic day of the year -- together? Signing new "coalition contracts" at every stage of flirtation. Aggressive negotiation of contract terms. Swift and brutal elimination of rival suitors. Writing their names on a moon with a giant death laser. "Lord Ren, you will aggravate your injuries, please allow me to complete this task for you," *chokes out Mitaka*

Kylo is absolutely ecstatic, because now that they have a chaperonne, they can start sneaking around her! Because the whole point of a chaperonne is to encourage illicit rendez-vous, and didn't Lord Vader and Padme sneak around as well?! Force, this courtship thing is getting better and better!
