FILL - Re: gen. Leia's pregnant

(Anonymous) 2020-09-15 03:14 am (UTC)(link)

The First Order managed to capture General Leia Organa of the Resistance. She turned out to be pregnant which both boosted the prestige of the capture and made her captivity a challenge, for Leader Snoke demanded that she be kept in the best possible condition along with her unborn child.

*

Leia had demanded that Kylo Ren come see her. Since she was refusing to eat until he did, Hux said he would try to convince Kylo to come see her. Hux opened the door and Kylo stood there with two trays. “I will take it from here, please let Leader Snoke know I may be delayed.”

He set the trays on the table and then shot a meaningful look to the corner of the room that Leia acknowledged with an infinitesimal nod of her head. “So, either you can tell me why you are limping or you can sit and have a conversation with me.” She tipped her head to the other side of the table.

Kylo pulled over a chair and sat at the table while she uncovered the trays. “Have you ever been to the flower markets of Flora?” At her negative head shake he continued. “It’s a riot of color and shape and some of the plants are more mobile than one would think. Unfortunately all the contrasting scents are repulsive when combined and even if wearing a mask or helmet the scent clings to anything that was worn that day. Beautiful and disgusting all at once.”

*

Hux scowled, “I don’t like that your conversations are so detailed with General Organa.”

Kylo looked at Hux, “Most of which we talk about is idle useless gossip, she has a liking for gossip tales. And no, no one knows why. And you would be surprised how little surprises her.”

*

Leia stopped talking all of a sudden and looked down. When she looked up her son was looking at her, “She’s feisty, you won’t be able to hide her much longer.” He said.

“You don’t sound upset she’s a girl.”

Kylo shook his head. “You never wanted me to take over after you anyway.” He scowled as small round fruit bounced off his forehead.

“Having you rule after me was the whole point. I sheltered you from most of the criticism but not well enough I see.”

“There wasn’t much, but I heard it”

“I’m sorry you had to hear any of it.” Leia looked at him, “I raised you to be a good prince, now you will make a good regent.”

Kylo gave her a scowl that was equal parts fierce and gentle.

*

She was allowed to walk as exercise, usually on a treadmill in her room. On occasion Kylo took her up and down the corridors in the section she was in, arm in arm.

Hux was outraged by this and the second time Kylo did this he walked alongside them, making no secret of what he was thinking.

“You could be letting her in on the secrets of this ship!”

“You mean the ones not written on the walls?” Leia asked, peering around Kylo at Hux, pointing at the sign on the wall. “Bow that way, stern that way, dorsal, ventral all covered with ion cannons and other heavy armament, and…” She leaned over and put her hand on the wall, “We have dropped out of lightspeed.”

“How much have you told her?” Hux demanded of Kylo.

“I knew that before coming on board. You do know he does stuff like this to annoy the fluff out of you?” Leia asked Hux.

“Now, now, we should keep some secrets. General Hux needs a hobby.” Kylo said to Leia.

“Leader Snoke will hear about this!”

“You think he doesn’t know?” Leia asked.

Hux huffed and stormed off.

Leia looked at her son, “You’re right, that is entertaining. It shouldn’t be, but it is.”

Kylo looked down the hall in the direction Hux had left in, “Sometimes he turns the same color as his hair. I usually stop then.” He paused, “Usually.”

*

“Why Kylo? Out of the entire pantheon of Alderaani myth and legend, why him?” Leia asked her son.

“The sheer audacity it took to face the god of the underworld and demand, not ask, but demand the underworld god return to him his precious Kira. His only weapon a simple musical instrument. And the trust he had in her following him to the world of the living, trusting she was right behind him all the way.”

Leia heard the longing in his voice. “Is Rey your Kira?”

“I wish,” he muttered, then blushed.

Leia let it slide, then jerked her head to the knight behind them, “Have they heard the tale?”

“On some planet they found a book of collected myth and legend and Kylo and Kira were in there.”

“Did they mock you for your lack of musical talent?”

“Not too badly.”

*

Kylo felt the pain rush through him and he did his best to not react to it, but Snoke stopped talking and closed his eyes in concentration. “Today.” He said. “Go, when the child is here your mother will no longer be able to shield her from me. Bring the child to me.”

Kylo left the throne room and took a few deep breaths in the elevator. When he opened them he was facing Rey. “Ben, what’s wrong?”

He sighed, “I can’t do what is asked of me. By anyone.”

Rey moved forward and touched his face, “You must do what is right. Your mother will help you.”

“I’m beyond her help.” He placed his hand over hers.

“Really? She could have escaped the First Order long before now, at least that’s what scuttlebutt is saying. Not too many know you are her son, but I think she’s trying to save you too.”

“And the odds on that?”

“42 to 1 on the category of staying for someone else besides her baby.” Rey smiled as he scowled under her hand. “Master Luke believes that she is trying to save you as well as her baby, oh! What was that?”

“She’s in labor with my sister, I’m close enough to her to feel the echo of the pain and you touching me means you felt it too.”

“Aren’t laboring women offered drugs for the pain?”

“Mom probably refused. Keeping Snoke out of my sister’s mind requires a clear head.” He sighed, “I will do my best to not fail my sister.” He pulled her hand from his face and pressed a kiss to her palm.

Leia was pacing the room when Kylo entered. The medical officer looked up and said, “She should really be in the birthing chair.”

“I don’t trust the fabrications department.”

Kylo took off his gloves and tucked them into his belt as he walked over to her, “When I was eight the Falcon got stuck in an ion storm while on the way to Chandrila. He explained that you get mad when you are scared and that I had to promise him that once he was gone that I had to be the one that stood between you and what terrified you, that I had to be there for you.”

“Leaving aside the part he’s dead by your hand…”

“And the personal attacks begin right on the schedule he laid out…”

“Don’t get smart with me young man!”

“Not my timetable! His, with help from Chewie…”

Leia wanted to protest but sighed and let her son help her to the birthing chair. “No drugs.”

The medical office only sighed and placed a monitor on Leia as the birth began in earnest.

Kylo stood to the side holding his mother’s hand for the rest of the labor.

Several hours later the medical officer handed the baby to Leia, “It’s a girl!”

“Oh, by the stars!” Leia held the squirming and squealing baby. “Oh Ben, look at your sister!”

Kylo felt his world constrict to the tiny baby in their mother’s arms. He reached out, then hesitated. Leia saw the hesitation and tugged on his hand and he touched his sister’s head.

The baby was wrapped in a blanket and the medical officer came over, “The child needs a name.” she held out the bottle.

Leia nodded then laid her daughter in her son’s arms, surprising him. “Kylo, Ben Organa Solo, Master of the Knights of Ren, Regent Prince of the Alderaani Diaspora, I give you Hanna Organa Solo, Princess of the Alderaani Diaspora.” Leia had pulled the other chair in the room over for Kylo to sit in. She nodded and the bottle was given to Kylo to give to Hanna.

They met each other’s gaze and Kylo glanced at the door. The door opened and four of the knights entered, one of them grabbed the medical officer and shoved her into the closet.

Leia looked into her son’s eyes. “You have to keep him from reaching her. You have to keep this shield, powered by love, up around her.”

Kylo cursed the tears that leaked from his eyes, “Mom…”

Leia leaned over and kissed him on the forehead, then pressed her forehead to his, “We’ve had these past months, an inadvertent gift. Tell your sister about me.”

Kylo could not speak over the sob in his throat but nodded. Leia stood and he cleared his throat, “Take it.”

“It’s not…”

“Please mom, improve your odds.” When she nodded, she reached out and took his lightsaber off his belt. He nodded and two of the knights nodded in acknowledgement, Leia looked at her son who only shrugged, “Trying to stack the odds in your favor.”

Leia smiled and kissed his scarred cheek. Before she pulled too far away, he turned her head and kissed her on the cheek.

Leia stood, hefted the lightsaber in her hand and walked out of the delivery room, a pair of the Knights following her. Her stride broke when Hanna began to cry but she continued when she heard her son softly singing, “Mirrorbright, shines the moon, its glow as soft as an ember…”

Leia entered the elevator with two of the Knights of Ren. “Trudgen and Ap’lek, correct?”

“Correct, General Organa.”

“I like to know the names of people I am leading into danger.” Leia said, studying the lightsaber in her hands. She slid it into the pocket of her robe and tied the robe a bit tighter around her, making sure the pocket was in front. “And we are going into danger, Snoke will not be happy to see me without either of my children.”

“He will not be easy to defeat.”

“Defeating him is not really the point, defending my children is. I will try to negotiate first, but the negotiations may get aggressive.” She patted the robe pocket. She briefly closed her eyes to pull the Force closer around her, then explained to the Knights, “I am not going to survive this encounter. I am using all the energy I have left to be fighting fit long enough to do what I must. Do your best to keep the guards off me.”

Snoke looked across the throne room, and said in an almost bored tone, “Princess Leia Organa. I did not summon you.”

“No, but here I am.” Leia stopped in the middle of the throne room, the knights a few steps behind her.

“Here you are, without either one of your children.” He raised a hand to bring Leia closer to him.

Leia held her ground, and Snoke redoubled his efforts. She slipped a handful of inches but he was unable to significantly budge her. He stopped and glowered at her. “You cannot keep up this expenditure of effort.”

“I will do anything I have to for my children.”

Snoke raised his hand and sent blasts of energy at Leia. She raised the lightsaber and held the energy at bay.

Leia looked up at him, “Now can we talk like reasonable beings about-” she swung the lightsaber back up to deflect more energy bolts. “I guess not.”

“Your children will be the tools I need to destroy your Resistance and spread order throughout the galaxy.” Snoke said, “And you are no Jedi.”

“No, I gave that up for my son.” She straightened up, swinging the lightsaber around her, “And by the way, while we’re on the subject of my children, your interference in my family did not go unnoticed.”

“Sometimes a herd must be culled to its most productive members.”

Leia struggled to control her temper.

Snoke noticed and leaned forward, “Oh so it’s your temper he inherited?”

“Yes, poor dear.” Leia breathed deeply as she found her center, “I think you have forgotten one thing, though.”

“Oh?” Snoke chuckled, “Your Resistance runs from my forces, trying to hide from them in the corners of the galaxy. Even your brother could not defeat me. I have dominion over your son and your daughter will be raised under my supervision. What have I forgotten?”

She raised the lightsaber, “I am Anakin Skywalker’s daughter.” She surged forward.

The Praetorian guards moved forward to stop her but they were either cut down by the Knights of Ren with Leia or knocked down by Leia on her way to Snoke.

Snoke tried to push her away from him but had no success. With a mighty effort he reached out to choke her. Leia did not falter, but rammed into him, driving her son’s lightsaber through him.

Snoke gasped, then wheezed “You have failed!” as his last guard ran Leia through with his blade, before being cut down by one of the Knights.

Ap’lek pulled Leia free and laid the older woman on the ground as Snoke breathed his last. Ap’lek removed her helmet and held the older woman in her arms, “Your highness!”

“Go. Protect my children.” Leia wheezed, then got a distant look in her eyes, “Ben. Hanna. Luke.” She slumped, then faded away as Ap’lek shed tears for her.

Hanna screamed and squirmed in her brother’s arms. He closed his eyes and whispered, “Mom.”

Luke staggered and would have fallen but Rey and Rose grabbed him and helped him to a nearby chair as he whispered in a broken voice, “Leia.”

Rey was ready to give him an earful but those words all died when she saw him. He looked up and she understood he wanted her voice to be soft. She walked over to where he was sitting. He opened the blanket so she could see.

“Oh Ben, she’s beautiful.”

He smiled at her praise. “She is an adorable little usurper.”

“Usurper?”

“Alderaani rules of succession prefer girls over boys. Which is why my mother went to Alderaan and my uncle to Tatooine. Technically I am now a regent until she turns sixteen.”

Both sobered and he struggled to contain his composure. Rey leaned over and kissed the top of his head, “We are all going to miss her.”

“She loved me.” He sobbed, letting Rey pull his head into her chest, “Oh Rey, she loved me.”

Rey cradled his head in her hands, letting him cry. No longer the brand new fierce Supreme Leader of the First Order, but a boy who had just lost his mother.

*

It was stressful cementing his position, he kept Hanna secluded with no less than three knights with her. Only the medical officer who attended the birth was allowed to attend to her medical needs which were few, she was a healthy baby.

But the evenings were for them alone. He took responsibility for feeding her, changing her, letting her sleep in his arms while he ate dinner and worked on conquering the paperwork that followed the changeover.

He found himself singing songs, giving her a softer version of his day. Keeping the First Order together was turning out to be a nasty vicious task and Kylo wondered why there was very little Resistance interference. That worried him until he remembered they had not had their sharpest tactician for months now.

Rey sat beside Kylo as he gave Hanna a bottle. “You seem tense.” She said.

“I expect the Diaspora to make a demand for her custody. People in the know, know where I am.”

“It’s not like you put your face on the money.”

“See this nose? No.” He said, checking on the formula level while Rey chuckled as she leaned on his shoulder.

“You don’t want to give her up.”

He pulled the empty bottle away, laid Hanna on his unoccupied shoulder and gently began patting her back. “No, I don’t. I don’t know that I can give her the life she deserves. She needs a proper education, surrounded by people who don’t see he as an inconvenience or a potential pawn.”

“No one can understand her like you. You love her. It’s obvious.” She said when he opened his mouth to protest. She softened her stern words with a kiss on the cheek. “She needs her family, not a group of strangers, even those that care.”

Kylo looked at Rey. “I think you are a bit biased there, scavenger.”

She tugged playfully on his hair, “Perhaps.”

*

He was on his way out of the throne room for the day when Hux came toward him. “Leader Ren, there is a private vessel with a passenger requesting a personal audience with Princess Hanna. I’ve told them to standby.”

Very few people knew Hanna was onboard, and they were sworn to secrecy. Kylo frowned, he had sent out the bare minimum announcement after Hanna’s birth, but left no hint where the Regent Prince and the Princess were. “Let them land, and have their passenger informed that I will be with her shortly.”

If Hux wondered how Kylo knew the passenger was a she, he kept that curiosity to himself.

Kylo looked up as Kuruk escorted Winter into his private chamber. She sent a sideways glance at the knight and Kylo said, “I keep no secrets from them.”

Winter walked over and took the chair that Kylo slid over to her and sat in it. “I volunteered for this, because something told me that you would not see any of the others.”

“You are a woman of consummate wisdom.” He frowned when she held out a pad that he knew had documents on it. He had Hanna in one arm and a bottle in the other so he reached out with the force and tried to take the pad but Winter refused to let it go. “I am trying to take it.”

“Then do so.”

Kylo frowned, “I don’t have a free hand, she can’t hold her head or the bottle yet, why are you not letting go?” then he realized and stopped trying to grab it, then stopped to soothe Hanna who felt his disquiet. “Testing me? Because I won’t like the document?”

“You were always a bright boy, Ben.”

He only huffed as he repositioned Hanna. Finally using an actual hand to take the document from her. He read it with an increasing level of distress. “They demand? Vicrul!” A middle-aged woman dashed forward and took Hanna from him so he could turn and face Winter. “They demand.” He got up so he could pace the floor. He panted and clenched and unclenched his fists.

Winter watched and waited as he did this. “They fear for her life.”

He waved a hand at Vicrul and Kuruk, “She has some of the fiercest bodyguards.”

“They feel you are the threat. Look at you now…”

“Trying to calm down here. Handed her off the second I felt my temper flare up.” He said as he paced.

“We are trying to do what’s right for her.”

He paused and closed his eyes, reaching out, knowing his sister relied on him. He knew he could set up a secret channel and give orders from afar, guiding her from afar, but he would not be present every day. He had never felt calmer when retiring to his rooms to have Hanna coo a greeting at him, playfully grab at his nose and he knew if he let his hair grow that she would grab that too. He realized he loved her, and that his life would be empty without her.

“Rey of Jakku.”

Winter looked blank, “Pardon me?”

“I will release custody of her only to Rey of Jakku.”

“Your uncle…”

“No.”

“And your alternate choice?”

“Chewbacca of Kashyyyk. But I will know if someone tries to pass over Rey.”

Winter knew he was throwing out impossible choices on purpose. A beep alerted her and he picked up two dinner trays and placed them on the table. “Join me for dinner?”

The spent a pleasant meal, Winter getting to hold Hanna, who fussed and cried when Winter tried to put her down. Kylo had to step in and get her to settle.

Winter paused before letting Kuruk escort her back to the ship, “They may agree, they may not. I just want you to know, I am on your side. Please take care of her.”

“I will, I promised my mother.” They shared an embrace.

“When Master Luke gets mad he really gets mad.”

Kylo looked up as Rey appeared. “Was he huffing every other word? Or was he was actually shouting?” he patted the space on the bed next to him, “And why was he mad?”

Rey settled next to him, “When some document was drawn up he was named as a guardian of Hanna, without being consulted. He was apparently fine with me and Chewie being named as alternate guardians and the people who drew up the document seem to have a problem with me and Chewie. That’s about the time he did get a bit shouty.”

“They pissed off a Jedi Master, just think about it.”

*

Four years later…

Kylo entered his rooms, ditched his outer garments, secured his lightsaber. He walked through the rooms following the sound of singing, then paused and called out, “Where’s my little princess?”

“Ky!” Hanna jumped to her feet and ran to be scooped up by her brother to be swung around.

“Did you have a good day?”

“More fun than you did.”

“I have no doubt about that.”

The evening went the usual way, dinner, lessons, a bath, then a story at bedtime. He took his bath, settled in, snuggled with Rey for a while and was about to drift off when something warned him. He got up and quickly took out the man who had entered the outer room. He gave the order, “Disperse.”

Hanna yawned as Kylo woke her up, “Ky?”

“Up! Get dressed. We have to run, remember what we practiced?”

“Okay.”

He grabbed their bag, his lightsaber and the now dressed Hanna. “Remember, do exactly as I tell you.”

“Yes Ky.”

Rey waited as the ramshackle on purpose craft landed on the landing platform in the trees. She smiled and ran up to the man and child who disembarked, “Ben!”

“Rey.” He greeted, then leaned in and they kissed.

“Are we safe yet?” Hanna asked.

“We’re among friends,”

There was some controversy about him even knowing about the Republic base he had landed at, and he agreed to a debriefing. He spotted a group of children and paused to ack the docent if he could leave Hannah there. The docent readily agreed and He steered his sister to the perimeter.

”Hanna, these are Other Children. Play nicely and remember what you’ve been taught.”

“Of course we’ll stay with you.”

“She lives in a cave in the wall.”

“There’s a rope.” Rey said.

“You want to take a child across that?”

“She’s got quite a grip, it’s a short swing and we’ll be fine.”

They had dinner together and Rey felt a warmth in her center as she and Hanna chatted over dinner. Ben sat and made a few encouraging comments.

They had been there a few days waiting for Luke to join them.

Ben and Rey were coming back from a run when a man tackled Ben. They struggled over the knife then the man began choking.

Ben managed to throw the man off and rolled clear. “Let him go!”

Rey gave Hanna a firm shake and the girl slumped and the man collapsed.

“But he was hurting Ky!”

Luke reached out his hands and Hanna took them. “Did your brother teach you how to do that?”

Hanna shook her head. “He’s always said I was supposed to let him or the others protect me. But it was only my brother there and none of the others and the man had a knife! Ky said knifes were dangerous.”

“Is that all he said was dangerous?”

“Oh don’t ask it that way.” Ben muttered.

Hanna answered Luke ticking off items on her fingers, “Knifes, blasters, lightsabers, General Hux, other idiots, eating utensils, improperly chewed food, airlocks, deep space, orbital space, angry Wookies…”

Luke tried several times to stop the listing finally Ben said, firmly, “That’s enough Princess.”

“Okay,”

Ben caught Luke’s face, “What?”

Hanna’s favorite hobby was to move around the base asking people if they knew her mother and then asking to hear everything about her.

Ben entered the bedroom and smiled. Rey was in their bed, Hanna curled up alongside her. He tipped his head feeling the whisper of his mother’s presence. “I’m so proud of you for the way you have taken care of your sister. Letting yourself love Rey the way she deserves. Now, get off your ass and marry that woman.” Ben only shook his head, then daintily slid into the bed behind Rey.
