Established Kylux.

For some reason, Hux arrived too late.

Either Kylo was long dead before he arrived or if he was able to see his beloved's final breath

I can't decide what hurts more

There is a gaping wound in Kylo' side, and a pool of blood surrounding his body. Time seems to stand still for Hux as he drops to his knees beside Kylo's too-still body. Hux know it is not possible that Kylo is still alive but still, there is an inkling of hope swirling in him as he releases the catches on Kylo's mask so he can ease it off of his head. There is already some stiffness in Kylo's neck, making the removal of his helmet just a little more difficult than it should be. It is a horrible reminder of just how long it had taken Hux to find him. It is a horrible reminder of just how late Hux had been. Hux thinks he will remember the feeling of stiffness in Kylo's neck until he dies himself. It will teach him to never be late again.

Hux wishes that he would have left the helmet on when his eyes meet Kylo's glassy, dead ones. It is not right. Not at all right how blank and empty Kylo's eyes are. They do not even stare at nothing, they do not stare at anything. Even when Kylo had been asleep he had commanded such a presence. When his eyes had been on Hux, Hux had known. Hux would feel Kylo's eyes follow him as he moved around the bridge, their bedroom. At first it had been irksome, but later Hux had felt safe with Kylo's gaze following him. Now, face to face, there is nothing. There is no feeling of being watched. There is nothing but emptiness and regret.

A stormtrooper enters the room to inform him that they have tracked down the filth that had taken Kylo Ren from him. Hux stands, Kylo's helmet cradled in his hands, and informs the 'trooper that he wants as many prisoners as possible. He also orders him to have Kylo's body brought back to the Finalizer. He leaves the room without another glance at Kylo's body. He cannot bear to see that lifeless shell that had once been the man he had loved. Now, he has more important things to do. Namely, avenging Kylo's death many times over, in many, many painful ways.

OP is both traumatized and hurt.

Thank you for writing this. This sooo... so complete. Like Hux's detachment or rather hurt on Kylo's dead body.

I feel accomplished but also like I should apologize for the feels... I'm glad you 'enjoyed' it.

Ouch ouch ouch. Kylo's presence in life and how Hux now only feels the absence of it is so heartbreaking!
