Trigger Warnings: Implied murder, some gore, character injury. My first time writing in this fandom, so tell me if this works/whether to continue. I just could not pass this up.

Poe would have preferred if Ben had died to seeing his face six months later, splattered with blood.

The red lightsaber lit up the night and Ben deftly wielded it. His hair was longer than it had ever been, clearly never trimmed. They were too busy teaching him to kill. He jumped out of the way of one blaster bolt and let go of his lightsaber with one hand to direct the other with a graceful, arcing wave of his arm into Jessika, who was thrown back into the nearest tree. Poe's heart hammered as he tried to see through the smoke if she was getting up or not, but he couldn't move, couldn't get his legs to cooperate.

As the encampment burned, for the most part, Ben was a shadowy nightmare, swathed in black, bloodstained. Poe knew without looking that the local who'd come to warn the Resistance camp was dead. No one could survive that much blood loss. Another scream sounded, the voice familiar, as in the shadows the shape of one of the pilots distorted, a limb being torn off with the Force. Poe sank to his knees and clutched his head, shut his eyes, but the visuals wouldn't leave his eyes, the sounds had no beginning or end.

This night will never leave me, he thought deliriously, and then abruptly someone was kneeling in front of him. He was shaking when his former lover lifted his head up by the chin, gloved fingers wet with viscera.

"What did they do to you?" Poe managed, searching the familiar face for traces of the man he had once planned to marry. The never-used proposal box and wedding ring weighed down his right front pocket like a slab of stone. "Ben, what happened?"

Ben's eyes were as dark and reflectionless as ashes, burning into him with a calculating intensity. His hair was in a ponytail, a stark white streak coursing through it. For a moment he gripped his lightsaber, the sound of it activating freezing the pilot to the spot. Then he pressed his mouth to Poe's in a loveless imitation of a kiss, rising and turning his head towards the destruction as if in answer. Poe tasted something metallic and felt himself begin to shake.

"Ben Solo is dead. He was weak and worthless, so they helped me kill him. I am Kylo of the Knights of Ren." He rose to his feet. "But I will honor his last request and allow you to live. Tell his parents they have no such protection. Don't place yourself in my path again." He waved his hand, and Poe crumpled to the ground, unconscious.

Kylo's steps were silent, only the slight swish of his cape registering as he went back to the fight, a shadow returning to the darkness from whence it came.

I can't believe my prompt was filled! This is amazing! I loved Poe's point of view, how disoriented and horrified he is during the whole thing, even until the end!

I admit I am soft-hearted, but I really hope Ben has been brainwashed instead of turning evil, because Poe was going to propose!!! My heart! So unless you tell me otherwise, I choose to believe that the streak of white in Ben's hair is a proof of brainwashing, somehow, I don't care.^^

Writeranon here! If I filled this properly it would be sporadic in updates, include a lot of implied gore/implied torture, some OCs (none of whom are good people) and mindfuckery that's left Ben not remembering if he willingly changed sides or if something iffier happened.

But I would be willing to write it if you're willing to accept updates would take about a week between them and it'd be posted on my AO3 account because I'm more comfortable writing there. Do I have the go-ahead to do that from you?

...also I may make a playlist for this and throw that up on my 8tracks account if that's cool.

Honestly, anon, I will love whatever you give me! This fill has been such a treat already, and I love the description of the possible follow up! And I don't mind AO3 at all!

So, as far as I'm concerned, you have my complete go-ahead! However, I really don't want to pressure you into writing, so only continue if you feel like it! :)

Wow, you painted quite a picture in so few words. Personally I think it stands well on its own, but if you want to expand it then go for it! I'm sure a lot of people would be interested. :)
