After the fall of the Empire, General Brendol Hux Sr thew in with the New Republic. He's since retired, but General Organa has the younger Hux as her right-hand man.

My soul for a love quadrangle where Hux loves Poe, who is making hearteyes at Finn, while Kylo either didn't go dark and wants Hux-senpai to notice him, or did and is failboating at ~seducing Hux to the Dark Side (ie. Kylo's bedroom). Or some variation thereof- Ginger Snaps doesn't get enough light-side loving.
