This has been my headcanon for a while. I haven't found a fic or been able to write one for it, though.

During their telepathic battle in the interrogation scene, Kylo and Rey realize something very personal that they have in common: they're both what could be described as asexual (maybe a different term in SW universe?). They recognize something in each other that clicks. However, at the same time, they also feel something jarringly different: Rey is more or less aromantic and okay with it, and Kylo is biromantic and struggling with it.

(*) I would love gen, but any pairings besides Rey/Kylo are welcome. It doesn't even have to be Rey and Kylo interacting with each other: maybe one is thinking, or one is talking with someone else, etc.

+ Kylo sees Rey's situation as ideal for a Force user (on either side) and is kind of jealous of her (not crazy/obsessed/angry jealous, please)
++ Rey doesn't see what the big deal is, in either romantic case
+++ They eventually find partners who are right for them (Rey is aromantic *at that point* - maybe weeks/months/years later she is with someone who she feels that type of love for)
++++ They're confident about their asexuality, but learning what they learn from each other makes them think about things they haven't really thought about before

- Melodrama, angst, inner turmoil (would rather see "huh, wasn't expecting that" or "oh no, why is he/she like me?" when they know)

I high-key headcanon Rey and low-key headcanon Kylo as ace too! +1
