Finn was experimented on by the First Order to resist any force user. As a result, he can't feel the force at all and it has no power over him, which is great when he has to fight siths but not so great when Force-sensitive users think he's strange or even barely alive.

He was really awkward looking as a kid. And he never grows out of having that mind image of himself.

Sure he flirts all the time and people respond, but he figures they’re just being nice people who put up with his looks, are really horny and any body will do, or are teasing him (for good or for bad depending who’s doing it). The jokes about him being the posterboy for the resistance (and how they'd get more recruits if they put him on an actual poster) make him really uncomfortable, because why would he be?

Cue Finn (and Rey) trying to let him know they find him really hot and him thinking they’re just trying to be nice, feeling really awkward about it all and wishing they’d just stop already.

Where Poe is a hotshot detective and Finn is the guy who quit working for the CIA because he was tired of killing people. He joins Poe's precinct, gets partnered up with Poe, and well... has lots of inappropriate feelings for his partner. Much to everyone's surprise though, these two really different guys soon have the best clearance rate in the department.

Post-war, Where Finn and Poe's kid(s) find their dads to be the lamest, most embarrassing adults in the world. They're constantly all over each other and lovey-dovey gazing into each other's eyes and telling the lamest jokes and just generally being the softest, schmoopiest humans in the galaxy. That is, until something big happens (maybe an attack at the kids' school or some sort of crisis situation) and the kids finally learn that their dads are pretty bad ass after all.

Kes meets Finn and in true Dameron fashion, decides he's keeping that one. Cue him meddling in his son's love life because Finn is totally going to be his son-in-law by month's end.

+1000 if he goes about strategizing it like a soldier, and brings in other people like Rey and the pilots as pieces to his ultimate endgame.

question: was the tracking beacon still on the Millennium Falcon so that Han knows exactly where his son is every time he hits hyperspace? Or did Kylo eventually figure that out?

After their son went batshit and killed a bunch of people, Leia and Han manage to somehow find the transport that baby Finn is on and intercept before he can train to be a stormtrooper. Instead he grows up with Hand and Leia as surrogate parents and looks up to/adores Poe his whole life.
