This fic is so good and I suddenly want for angry married house flippers AUs to be a standard in every fandom. How can you do this to me, igniting this need in me that'll never be satisfied? This is the greatest thing I never knew I wanted and your writing is stellar. ♡♥♡

Because even one full-on Darkside moment is enough to drag an already conflicted Lightsider into the abyss. Yep, Kylo's all in for the Darkside. But you know how Luke was like thiiiiiiiiis close to Falling in RotJ? And he had Vader on the ropes? One can easily imagine an AU where he goes just a little too far.

I tried to imply that Luke's Fall and mega power explosion/berserker spree was not a commonly known fact, which is why he managed to slip away. Leia, obviously, would know, because of the twin thing, but she's not exactly going to advertise it.

Kylo, of course, was more than happy to take the blame. Because slaughtering dozens of Jedi is some amazing Dark Side cred.

...You know now that I think of it, that would explain why Kylo is trying waaaaaay too hard to go full-on Darkside. It's almost a 'let me think of evil things to do'. As Anakin's entire character arc and Luke's conflict in the OT show us, the Dark Side is something that is most effective when it comes naturally. It's supposed to be the 'easy path'. So if you're forcing (lol seewhutididthere) it, you're doing it wrong. He's *trying* to commit, but his lack of faith in his own Darkness bit him...And Rey kicked his ass with Righteous Fury.

Ok yeah I'd totally write this myself if I was anything but a fanfiction noob. I might anyway.

This would also make a great *wham* moment for Episode 8, on par with 'I am your Father'. 'No...Your Master killed the Jedi'.

I think that would actually break the internet.

The first time Hux lets Kylo remove his gloves, Kylo is not exactly surprised to find a gleaming network of silver phalanges and carbon-wire tendons where his good right hand should have been. He's spent some time inside Hux's head, after all. Wandering among the junked hulks of his memory, kicking up things that had lain buried for decades. He's known about Hux's deficiencies for some time- the hand, the knees, the plates in his skull-- but what he hadn't known was how he would feel the first time he allows those cool metal fingers to touch his bare skin.

Author!anon here. Glad you like it! I'm definitely planning to go the shippy route, but they have a lot of issues and squabbles to get through first, so it's going to take a while for them to get there. It's maybe a third of the way done? 2/5ths max.

Amongst others, one of the reasons I opted to kill TR-4022 off sooner rather than later was because there was no way either of the other two was going to open up with him around. To get the story arc I want, the time frame was getting daunting. So now they have something to bond over and no more excuses not to talk. ^^

If anyone cares- updates will happen regularly again once I complete a large project I'm working on for an internship, which should be by this weekend.

I actually started writing another part after I read all the negative comments - partly because I felt like I needed to answer everyone's questions, provide an explanation, some kind of accountability.

Then I realized what I was doing.

And that I don't owe these people a damn thing.

I probably will post another part, eventually. But if I do, it's not going to be for them. It'll be because I enjoy writing this, and I'm one of those people who likes writing angst.

Just a few of the things I loved:

Hux, being both sarcastic and completely honest about his penny –pinching and terrible martial dynamic. Jeeze, hope Rey at least gets lunch out of driving all over and dealing with these two.

“…rearranged the remaining bottles so there were an even six in the front”

Because the world is sadly lacking in order. Hehehe.

“And then,” said Kylo, “Hux will end the evening doing his nightly Scrooge McDuck backstroke in the pool of pennies he’s saved by limiting our creative resources, while the cat and I share a tin of Fancy Feast.”

“You’ll be lucky,” said Hux, “if it is Fancy Feast.”

Hux is right, cat food can be very expensive. I notice he didn’t deny any of that though. Probably knows a lost ~~cost~~ cause.

“I hope you don’t lose that eye,” said Rey. “It could get infected really easily. Cats get their claws in litterboxes, and who knows what’s at the vet. And Millicent walks on Hux and Ren’s sex sheets all the time.”

“Please help me get the cat in the crate,” said Finn, his voice breaking.

Stay strong Finn. The crazy is only partially communicable.

“because if someone didn’t keep an arm on the cat crate, Millicent could move it around the car and possibly influence Finn’s steering.”

Poor Millicent.

“That explains ... something,” said Finn. When he stopped at a red light, Millicent stretched a paw out from the crate and raked his hand. He looked at her sympathetically.

He doesn’t know legs from arms but he recognizes a fellow victim of the Kylux cyclone.

Finn and Rey have each other’s backs and aren’t above lying to their employers to try to avert trouble for themselves, Millicent, and possibly for the spouses themselves. (or at least the last 2 plates) Except whatever will those two do when they’re not arguing?
