IMPORTANT MOD POST

Last week, I made a mod post with a couple of new rules. The rules were:

1. prompts must not exceed ~250 words, if you're not sure how long your prompt is you can check here and here. Obviously if your prompt is just "Poe and BB-8 fake date!" there's no need for that.

2. no prompt-hijacking

3. try to leave fewer than 5 prompts per page

I also mentioned looking for volunteers to bookmark prompt to the delicious account. I'm still looking, btw!

Now, in light of some recent events, I'm adding more rules:

4. no more backseat modding. I appreciate you guys want to help and care about people following the rules, I'm not being sarcastic here, but if you see a prompt/fill/someone breaking the rules you should let me know by commenting on the Ask a Mod post and then let me deal with it. Do not engage.

5. reposting prompts from post one is not currently allowed. I don't know how you'd prefer to deal with reposting:

- reposting from prompt post one can start in post 4, reposting from post two can start in post 5, etc

- special post for reposted prompts once we hit prompt post number [whatever]

- no reposting ever.

Let me know!

6. This has not happened yet, but I figure it's only a matter of time: no prompts based on real life tragic events. That means no 9/11 AU, no segregation  AU and absolutely no "AU where Hux is literally Hitler" I know the movie sort of went there, but fictional space nazis ≠ actual irl nazis who lived and killed actual people.

7. the most important new rule is PLAY NICE.

Lastly, by popular demand, we're having a short prompt freeze.  The kinkmeme will be once again open for prompts on Friday 22nd. eta: I didn't realize it might look this way, but the prompt freeze is not punishment for bad behavior or whatever! It's only to encourage filling/reading.

Comments on this post are screened, I will unscreen them as I see fit.

I would be fine with either of the first two options. I think that I have a slight preference for the special post for reposted prompts, but I think that both are equally good solutions.

I'm fine with no reposting ever. It gets tiring wading through the same old clichés dressed up in the guise of new prompts, so I'm all for keeping things ultra fresh. Besides, reposting will happen by accident anyway - no one is going to read through every single prior comment.

I think I like the idea of having a special post for prompts to
be reposted at some point. I'd like for us to be able to repost prompts we'd really like to see filled that may have gotten lost in the shuffle, but too much reposting mixed with people leaving new prompts at the same time seems like it could turn into a mess.

If there's gonna be reposting, I vote a special post just for those prompts. Otherwise it'll be too easy for people to spam new prompt posts with old prompts, and the shiny new prompts will get lost.

Also, if you put in the main body of the post that prompts are currently frozen, don't forget to make a point of saying the freeze is specifically to encourage people to fill prompts or comment on existing fills. :)

I vote special post for reprompts

Sorry, I don't know how to delicious. =/

I think a separate lonely prompts post would be better, too. Maybe start it after Round 2 closes? That would be ~3,000 prompts, minus ~300 fills. And obviously promote it during freezes.

Thanks for staying on top of things so well, mod!

I vote a special reprompt post, but perhaps after the first 5 prompt posts are filled.

PS: are you looking for any co-mods?

+1 for special re-prompt post, maybe especially for prompts that have been seconded.

In a world where modding this thing was a paid full-time job, condensing the same-same prompts somehow would be great, but as it is you're already going above and beyond to keep this thing going. Thank you!

Rather a specific reprompt post. If you say none at all people will just try to rephrase the same prompt slightly differently. Or you'll get anons jumping on anons fighting over if it's a reprompt or not. So a specific post for reposting seems like a better option.

Does this mean no Titanic AUs??

Thought for reprompt post: fill a prompt, pick a re-post? To encourage some fills.

If there is a seperate prompt re-posting post, then I would REQUIRE people to link to where the prompt was originally posted in whatever round (might be tedious but there is the delicious archive) so that people don't use this as an opportunity to post new prompts.

I'd also only open reposting to closed rounds (so if it's round two, only repost prompts from round one and not from, say, page one of round two).

I'd say reposting allowed after, for example, 2 months pass after original post was made (DA kink meme has one month rule) and no more than 2 reposts total on one page (or a separate post for reprompts).

And probaly a rule to mark a repost as repost/reprompt in the header.

Just wanted to say thank you so much to the mods and archivers. I'm sure your jobs are incredibly hard and they allow all the rest of us to have a good time. Thanks guys!

Thank goodness for rule #6, although I lol'd at the thought of someone requesting those things. But then again, it is a kink meme...

I vote for a separate reprompting post. People like reposting, but it's really irritating to see new prompts keep getting crowded out.

Thanks so much for running this community!

I'm actually kind of digging that the timing has worked out as ffa prompts over the weekends and fills-only during the week. I'm probably a weirdo though.
