"I wondered if he meant old Ben Kenobi" Kylo was named after Obi-Wan

There are so many names to choose from, it struck me as interesting that Ben Solo had the same name as Obi-Wan's alias in A New Hope. He's an important guy to the family - Luke and Anakin's mentor, legendary Jedi warrior, answered Leia's call for help when she was taken a prisoner of war - so it doesn't seem ludicrous that they'd want to honor him in that way. (You can decide why they didn't just call him Obi-Wan, maybe they didn't want to make him self-conscious about having such big shoes to fill)

You can do anything you'd like with this concept, but I kind of want to see Kylo, having trained more post TFA and become stronger in his force control, become strong enough to sense Force!Ghosts - and finally see Force!Ghost/Godfather!Obi-Wan, who's been trying to get his attention for years. (Because let's be real, even when Anakin was a good guy, he was kind of a whiner. Leave the mentoring to Ben Kenobi.)

Not a fill, but there is background for this in the EU. In that Luke names his son Ben after his first jedi mentor and Han and Leia's son who goes dark is named Jacen. Luke always knew Obi Wan as Ben, so it makes more sense for him to name his son Ben instead of Obi Wan. What the thought process was in switching it for the movie, I don't know, but I'm sure someone will ask JJ soon.
