"It's nothing to be ashamed of," Phasma said gently. "People often have react in unpredictable ways in their first firefight, no matter how well they do in simulation."

"Then what's the problem?" Finn demanded. He fidgeted in his chair, his armor, normally a second skin, suddenly too tight and chaffing.

"The problem is the incident at the village. If Kylo Ren hadn't stopped you, how many civilians would you have shot? One? Two? All of them?"

"They killed Deuce," Finn said, avoiding the question. "And Sherra, and-"

"And four other stormtroopers, and wounded six more. I am aware," Phasma said. "You have a right to be angry. You don't have a right to kill prisoners. You're lucky we're discussing a hypothetical instead of a real act. As it is, I'm afraid I have to deny your application for officer candidacy, at least for now."

"That's not fair," he protested. "It was my first time, like you said. It won't happen again."

"I hope not, but for now I can't have you on combat duty." Phasma smiled, as if she was doing him a favor. ""You have a great deal of potential. If you're willing to go through therapeutic conditioning, I'll reconsider afterward."

That meant being taken away from his squad and sent back to guard duty. Maybe even sanitation. Under the table, Finn clenched his fists. "Thank you, ma'am. I'll report to medical."

He didn't. Finn had spent too long working through the First Order, out of the creche where he'd been raised, the orphan of fallen Imperial soldiers, and up to join the elite stormtrooper corps. He'd had dreams, plans for a starship command by the time he was thirty. Even if they liked what they heard in therapy, they'd never let him in a hundred yards of a real position again. Someone else might, though.

"Can you fly a TIE Fighter?" Finn demanded, after dragging the Resistance prisoner out of his cell and into a maintenance corridor.

"I can fly anything," Dameron said. Battered and bruised, a big medical patch covering one temple, and still he managed to look smugly handsome. "What's it to you?"

"This is a rescue. I get you to a ship, you get us away from here."

"You're not Resistance. Why are you doing this?"

"Because I'm sick of the First Order, and if I'm going to leave I want a reward."

Dameron laughed quietly, then gave him a devastating grin. "I think I like you. Tell you what - help me finish my mission, and the queen won't give you a reward. She'll give you a planet. The Resistance rewards loyalty."

A planet. Dameron was exaggerating, Poe thought, but hell, why aim for just a ship? And if Organa did manage to carve out a new kingdom to replace the one she'd lost, maybe a planet wouldn't be too much to ask for her closest followers.

"This way."

Yes! Not OP, but this is great, anon. I love the concept of helpful therapeutic conditioning (which I assume is like counselling) for someone who nearly killed a bunch of villages. Also referring to Leia as a Queen. The little touch of the changed title was a lovely idea.

Oh, I love everything about this.

Finn/Poe is my fluffy fluff ship, but evil!Finn/Poe adds this level of wrongness that's so hot.

OP Here, this little slice of how Finn gets so pissed off with the First Order and subsequently breaks out Poe mirror-verse style is so so good!!

(I think whether evil or good, Poe and Finn would be at the very least, buddies)

And I can definitely see mirror!Leia styling herself Queen (or maybe even Empress).

Thank you! Sorry its so short, the scene just popped into my head. I may eventually expand it more, once my slightly less evil fic about Poe desperately trying to get an identical replacement jacket before Finn wakes up is done. A few more mirror thoughts:

1) They are totally best buddies in evil. Having someone to watch your back is even more important in the mirror universe and let's face it, 'expert at shooting' and 'expert at flying' complement each other pretty well.

2) Leia continued to call herself princess until to overthrow of the Empire and the restoration of the Republic, as a public show of modesty. Later, once she had conquered - sorry, liberated - herself a new throne world, she declared that as the last member of the Alderaanian princely families she is now a queen. Empress... can wait. Her public persona is certainly a very noble one, even if she had set her sights on hijacking the First Order's power base in the Unknown Regions as a prelude to better things. She is a very pragmatic and charismatic evil, treating those loyal to her well so as to secure their obedience. Think Galadriel: "Not dark, but beautiful and terrible as the Morning and the Night!"

3) Poe's father Kes was (and maybe is) one of Leia's most trusted bodyguards, and the one she has shoot people who annoy her. Shara Bey is her personal pilot. She regards Poe as a potential heir since her son has turned out to be a complete fuckup.

4) Finn still meets up with Rey, and they escape together, with Rey strafing her former taskmaster on the way out. Daniel Craig trooper she doesn't just mind control, but sends off to cause havoc and die in the process. The Sith Code calls to her: "The Force shall set me free."

5) Starkiller Base was the First Order's last, best hope to destroy the Republic and restore the ideals of Palpatine's New Order, a just and fair Jedi Empire that overthrew the corrupt Republic. When Finn, Rey, and Poe blow it up, Leia now has a chance to strike at their heart - and with the Senate gone, perhap then turn on the Republic. With her brother at her side, perhaps another Empire shall arise - not Jedi this time, but Sith.

6) Han tries to bring his son home. Then he tries to shoot first. He fails at both.

Oh ouch, that last one.

1) Buddies for life. I can so see these 2 become some elite assassin duo for the Queen

2) ohhhh I love your Leia, I really do.

3) in every reality, Kylo | Ben disappoints his family I guess.

4) I seriously want dark side Rey, vicious and almost feral from her years on Jakku

6) But does Han die?? I mean, since Kylo is a Jedi and all.
