It's also a tvtropes thing, which is almost certainly where OP got it from. (Do not look up tvtropes unless you want to lose many hours of your life learning fascinating things about every piece of media under the sun.)

OP here to say she got it from wrestling, which is also where tvtropes got it from, and yeah def don't click on tvtropes
