Poe and bb-8 are in a relationship, it might not be sexual or necessarily romantic, but they live together, spend all their time together and love each other. It's something Poe doesn't really ever need to conscious consider, it's just a given. In the past he's had to work to balance his relationship with his partners and bb-8. Partners tend to get annoyed by how much attention he gives his droid and the time he spends with it, telling him he should drop bb-8 off somewhere when they go on dates and that they don't want it in the room when they're sleeping ect.

Finn (and possibly Rey) is a totally different case. He makes a point to invite bb-8 out on all their dates, learns it's language so he can understand it, and never forgets to say goodnight to it before it powers down when he sleeps over ect.

Poe doesn't realize how much this means to him until Finn celebrates the anniversary of the day they met by getting both him and bb-8 gifts.

I want to see the three (or 4!) of them together and happy, with bb-8 being treated as a valid member of the relationship rather than just an accessory/pet
