I think a lot of people in fandom must really like the savior/victim trope, because it honestly baffles me that they'll take a grown adult and imply they don't know basic survival skills. It's a bit unsettling, tbh, especially when you're taking two people who are more or less equals and making one "less than" for the sake of a romantic plot.
And like, for a 23 year old dude who did something akin to going AWOL from the military, Finn seems to have a lot of his shit together. I doubt he's going to wake up from his coma and burst into tears and start asking people what kissing or bedrooms or names are. HE KNOWS WHAT A NAME IS. HE HAD A NAME BEFORE FINN, IT WAS JUST NOT A TRADITIONAL ONE FFS.
