Not gonna lie, sometimes I like being that "old" fan who gets to school all the youths about fandom back in the day. Like whenever a minor scuffle is treated like a big dramatic fandom explosion, I'm just like...."oh have you even heard about the msscribe or Cassandra Claire dramas from HP?? Or the LOTR RPF tinhats?" (It still baffles me that there are people in fandom who only know Cassandra Clare for her published books and not her Harry Potter fics)

Though, even us "old" fans have nothing on the original Star Trek and Star Wars fans with their underground slash magazines. They were the real heroes of fandom.
