He's been groomed by Snoke since childhood, and then spent his teens and twenties training and trampling down enemies, and the end result is that he's a clueless virgin. He hasn't even been kissed before, so while he's psyching himself up to hold hands for the first time, his date is expecting him to bring out the whips and chains and gimp-mask any second now.
Shenanigans ensue.
