But because of his body structure, his hair (which several people/aliens normally call his plumage) and, particularly, his tendency to fly the coop, they gave likened him to a bird.
So Hux as the bird-pet. In a bird cage.
+ They like him to sing. Which he does. Not really singing but speaking in his natural (Irish) accent, not his affected one.
