The remnants of the Republic finally recognizes the First Order as a galactic threat, and send troops/supplies/ships to the Resistance. This is great -- except they also send other commanders and politicians with very different, very specific ideas of how the campaign should be managed. They command their own troops counter to Leia's orders in the field, undercut her authority in strategy meetings, fight publicly with her and each other. The original Resistance is 110% loyal to Leia but there just aren't enough of them to throw their weight significantly.

+++ Finn being surprised the surviving Republic representatives are exactly as the FO propoganda described: vain, decadent, self obsessed, leaving any planet not beneficial to them personally to fend for itself, etc. Disillusioned Finn, who is perhaps looked down on (or viewed as a PR opportunity, to be taken back where he can be both displayed and removed as a potential threat. Someone who turns traitor once...)
+ politics. Leia having to play the political game while trying to run a war.
+ Confused orders leading to panic in the field. Maybe some commanders try direct combat rather than the guerilla tactics the Resistance normally employs, leading to heavy losses.
++ Poe's frustration. This is why he left the NR military for the Resistance in the first place.
+ attempts at negotiations with the FO
++++ FO has legitimate points (+doesn't excuse blowing up 5 planets)

I love few things more than I love fanfics about political power struggles! Especially ones where nobody has the obvious moral high ground! Viciously seconded! Gimme!!

Phasma is Mitaka's dom and one of their favorite things is Phasma forcing Mitaka into pretty lacy panties and lingerie and makeup and dresses and things and to drag him around as her pretty "girlfriend".

All the things the First Order told him was wrong with him turns out to be bullshit. Everything they tried to stomp out of him is an asset, and under the wing of the Resistance (and Leia) Finn becomes their best strategizer, one of their most daring leaders, and someone people are willing to DIE for. He becomes the First Order's worst nightmare.

Finn gets to be great friends with the cooks in the commissary because he genuinely and thoroughly appreciates and enjoys every piece of food they put the effort into making for him. Then he overhears the old adage of "The way to a man's heart is through his stomach" and he asks the Resistance's head chef if he'll teach Finn how to cook, because he wants to woo Poe. Or even if Poe doesn't feel that way about him, he wants to be useful to Poe, keep him energized, healthy, happy. Of course the entire cooking staff thinks Finn is too precious for this world and teach him how to cook, and he, being the quick learner that he is, takes to it amazingly well. And that old saying is absolutely right, because Poe is in love. (Well, even more in love.)

They find Finn's world and Finn's family. Turns out Finn has 4 older siblings and they are all (almost) as attractive as Finn is. They're also a lot more confident and aware of their looks with healthy egos and lots of charm. So Finn is ecstatic to meet them, but also kind of wary because they are hitting on Poe hard and Finn, Finn isn't sure if he can compete.

But if Finn is good at anything it's defeating the odds, so he responds to his very attractive siblings' intentions towards the pilot he's been trying to woo by swallowing his fears and stepping up his game. He won't lose Poe without a fight!

kylo loves to be kissed. he likes to make out and he likes getting hickeys and he's happy just to spend the entire evening smooching til his mouth is puffy and a little sore and grinding and. just really slow build to getting each other off. especially when hux is so good at kissing he goes weak kneed and trembling.

Finn has cake for the first time in his life at the Resistance base and he's like "This! This is what we need to win the war!"

So he starts going on missions, infiltrating Stormtrooper training facilities and making them eat cake. And the Stormtroopers are like "What is this magic?!" and Finn is like "I KNOW. They've been keeping it from us." and the Stormtroopers are like: "FUCK THEM. Burn this shit to the ground!" And the war is won because dessert.

(Inspired by the Ben Solo/ General Hux prompt on page 36)

In an AU where Ben never became Kylo Ren, he falls in love with General 'pretty uptight gingersnap' and decides to smuggle/kidnap him out for 'dates'...

Bonuses:

+ the Finalizer has the largest record for 'Raided by the Resistance' that it's embarrassing

+ Ben wooing Hux by doing stuff that ultimately annoys him (i.e. gifting him with supplies he stole from the FO in the first place, dressing him in Padme Amidala-style clothes, using his strategies against his rivals, etc.)

+ Hux's l̶o̶v̶e̶ life is now a joke amongst the FO; Ben/Hux supporters(Phasma) are UNDERSTANDABLY supportive (and he wants nothing more than to shove them out the airlock)

+ Leia staving off headaches at Ben's antics; Han doesn't know whether to encourage/discourage him

+ Snoke encourages it ('Seduce Ben Solo to the Dark Side, General, and victory will be ours') to Hux's mortification

+ chaperon!FN-2187 (courtesy of of indignant overprotective!Hux Sr.) who totally chats up with wingman!Poe Dameron

I'm pretty sure that Poe is adamant that anyone who doesn't like Finn after five minutes basking in the glow of Finn's smile shouldn't be trusted. He has good instincts that way.

Because I think it would be hilarious if their kid is bringing someone home to dinner for the first time and they break out their very particular skillsets to interrogate this poor child.

Poe uses charm and a "no, I'm your friend" sort of mentality to get under the teenager's shields and suss out what they're REALLY after.

Finn uses fear tactics because his First Order (or Army) mentality involves lots of cleaning his guns in public places, unreadable expressions, and slowly taking his target apart in a long, drawn out interrogation scenario that has him controlling all the variables: temperature, food/drink, lines of questioning, etc.

Meanwhile Finn/Poe's poor kid is like "God my dads are the worst."

okay im always a slut for a good ol' misunderstanding fic. they're together, relatively recently. but in secret. hux feels like he has to kinda overcompensate so nobody will suspect them, but when kylo overhears hux basically badmouthing him to and entire room of his peers, he thinks it's for real and spends the rest of the day freaking out because hux is definitely going to dump him and kylo...kylo kinda maybe loves him.

Normally Kylo and Hux have rough, quick sex. The goal is to orgasm as soon as possible, with minimal contact. It works for them.

This time is... different. Maybe it's exhaustion, or inebriation, or their last opportunity after capture, or what have you. This time it's all about touching: slow, easy making out, sucking bruises on each other's neck, shoulders. Rubbing against each other just to feel it. Languid kisses while they stroke each other off. Just gimme that slow, intense sex.

Kylo finally manages to get a crack at Finn and tries to rip his mind apart in revenge for betraying the FO. But instead of harming Finn, Kylo gets a head full of whatever adorable baby animal gifs and sunshine rainbowscapes run through Finn's adorable head because he is a precious starlight puppy unicorn. Basically, the sheer amount of goodness/light and kindness that somehow managed to survive in Finn despite his growing up in the darkest of places breaks through whatever Darkside hold Snoke has on Kylo.

Would want to see this.

Poe and Finn are together, but Poe promised Finn that any sex thing he was curious about that Poe was also okay with was on the table for them. And Finn is kind of curious about having a threesome. Okay, really curious, because he's been watching a LOT of porn. So the two of them agree, and start asking for a third. Rey wants none of that shit because while she loves her friends, she is not about seeing them naked with their things inside of her things. Jess is too gay. Snap is too sane. So Poe hits up Bastian because they used to have a casual friends with benefits thing way back when, and stuff sort of happens from there. Really, incredibly hot stuff. Finn, as it turns out, has some INCREDIBLY GOOD ideas.

+1000 if slutty bottom Poe gets Dped by these two really handsome dudes.
