Thanks for the kind words. Here's part two. And I figured out out to do HTML stuff woo.

----

The Ghost, much to Hux’s extreme displeasure, would not. Go. Away. It didn’t matter if Hux paid him any attention or not because that menace talked on and on and on.

Currently he was in the mess hall with Phasma as she talked about some updates on the new batch of troops she was training. Things were going well, as expected, and he didn’t really need to be here except her desperately wanted to drown out the voice of that ghost chatting on beside him.

“His favorite food is Coreillian mashed tubers,” the ghost said abruptly after a very long one sided conversation about the many virtues of Kylo Ren’s good looks. “It was the only thing he would eat growing up, and his father used to tease him that Ben would turn into a plate of mashed tubers.” Fondness colored the ghost’s voice who was no doubt lost in old memories.

If that ghost liked Kylo Ren so much then Hux didn’t understand why he was the one being harassed. Was this some punishment from the Supreme Leader for an unknown failure? Hux tried not to scowl too deeply as he ate and nodded along to Phasma’s report. If he concentrated enough he could block out the –

“Oh there he is now. Doesn’t he look so handsome in his black robes? He gets that fashion sense from me, you know.”

Hux’s eyes flicked over to the entryway doors against his will and saw Kylo stomp in like some uncultured backwater planet peasant he was. Even from this distance Hux could see the anger radiating off of Ren from the tense lines of his shoulders to the lights that flickered overhead.

The ghost floated a little to the left of Hux with his chin resting in his palm. “My, he doesn’t seem to be in a good mood. You know when he was a child he had the worst tantrums when he didn’t get his way.”

Hux ground his teeth together and tried very hard to keep his thoughts to himself. Apparently he was projecting because Kylo Ren snapped his head around to look at Hux with deep suspicion. Stay out of my head! Hux projected when he felt Kylo’s not so light probing along the surface of his mind.

Then stop projecting, Ren snapped back.

“My grandson is looking at you. You should show him some attention.” The ghost elbowed him in the shoulder as if it were a friendly nudge. However, it was a ghost so it went right though Hux’s body in the most unpleasantly cold sensation that made the hairs on the back of his neck stand up.

Some of that displeasure must have showed on Hux’s face because Phasma stopped talking and gave a polite cough. “Is something wrong?” Her tone was reserved, face neutral as she regarded him but it rankled Hux nonetheless.

He gripped his fork in his hand and determinedly ignored the ghost’s insistence that he share his tubers with Kylo Ren. “I’m fine, thank you Phasma, but I believe you can inform me about the rest of your report later. I find I have other matters to attend to.”

He got up, disposing of his tray, before quickly exiting the mess hall and away from two of his biggest problems. Hux could feel the beginning of a headache forming behind his eyes and he pinched the bridge of his nose when he felt no one was looking. A momentary sign of weakness his father would have never approved of. Then again, his father had never had to deal with temperamental Force users and the ghosts who loved them. He needed a way to end this and soon.

Thank you! I wasn't so sure about posting but your kind words have inspired me to get to part two. :)

OP: This is magnificent in every way possible, and I love it. And oh Anakin. You never change - that bit about how Ren had inherited his fashion sense had me giggling, while the bit about the Coreillian Mashed Tubers made my heart ache just a little (in a good way!)

No one else could see or hear the Force Ghost. Not Phasma. Not his crew. Not even the Supreme Leader during a very uncomfortable meeting where the ghost had alternated between mocking Snoke and raving over his grandson. A whole week with his own personal demon that seemed determined to drive him to an early grave. Hux was not a weak man but even he had his limits, and as much as he hated it, the stress was starting to get to him. There’d been more verbal fights with Kylo Ren, short conversations with his officers, and even the troops were tiptoeing around him the same way they reacted to Kylo in one of his tantrums.

Hux was in his office with a mug of caf beside him. He was going over expense reports on his holpad and wondered if he should dip into the slush fund because of another completely inappropriate tantrum Kylo had. Kylo and his stupid kriffing map. Hux would never understand why the Supreme Leader was so lenient with the Force user when he was more trouble than he was worth.

His holopad dinged signaling another message and Hux swiped it open to read the message:

DID YOU HEAR KYLO REN HAS AN EIGHT PACK? HE’S SHREDDED! TAKE A LOOK AT THIS TRAINING VIDEO; YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE YOUR EYES. WHAT AN ATTRACTIVE YOUNG MAN.

“What!” The screen cracked when Hux threw it against the wall in a rare fit or rage. It clattered to the steel floor face up where Hux could see Ren’s video automatically playing with the sound at high volume. “Ghost you get out here right now,” the redhead snarled. He was done with ignoring the being’s presence in the vain hope it would go away. “I know you can hear me!”

The ghost appeared sitting on the edge of Hux’s desk as if he’d always been there. “I see you got my message,” he said and fondly looked at the video of his grandson practicing his forms. “Manipulating electronics is hard when you’re a ghost, but I’ve always been talented.”

“I need you to stop meddling in my affairs,” Hux demanded and rose to his feet. His nails bit into his palms to stop himself from shaking in furious anger as he attempted to look down his nose at the ghost. “I don’t know what you think you’re doing, but I have a ship to run and I don’t need to hear anything else about Kylo Ren. Do I make myself clear?”

The ghost’s lips kicked up in a small smile. “You know, when you sound like that you remind me of my old master,” he said placidly. He didn’t seem fazed with a near empty mug of caf went sailing though the air and passed through him to shatter again the wall right near the blaster scorch mark. “Of course he never threw anything,” the ghost added more to himself.

“Get. Out.”

The ghost held up his hands as if in surrender before winking out of existence.

Hux sighed and slumped back down in his chair, too tired to sit properly as his father had drilled into his head since a young age. The ever-present pounding behind his eyes was worse than before. Cark it, he thought, and pulled out a tumbler and a very expensive bottle of whiskey from his desk. Only when he was on his second glass did he feel in control enough to get back to work.

“Mitaka,” Hux said through the comm link.

“Yes, Sir?”

“I need a holopad sent to my quarters. My previous one has malfunctioned.” He looked to the side to see the tech had stopped working. Liquid must have spilled on it from his ill thought out plan of hurling his mug at the ghost. It sadly sparked, the broken screen filled with static before going dark.

“Right away, Sir,” Mitaka responded back swiftly.

Hux cut the line, satisfied that as least he still had some semblance of control in his life. He would work on the rest of the reports for another hour or so before taking a sorely needed shower. It was one of the few luxuries he permitted for himself, and he looked forward to having the hot spray work out some of the tension. He most definitely needed it.

Oh yay! Thank you so much for the prompt. It's fun writing it. I just put out chapter 3.

MINI FILL (1/6) Omega!Hux, protective alpha!Kylo [5+1?]

(Anonymous) 2016-03-27 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
The General of the First Order is an Omega, something Kylo Ren would not have believed if he hadn't met the man in person.

He was tall, just a tad shorter than Ren himself, and carried himself strongly, just like any Alpha would. But that was the end of the list of Alpha-like traits. Even General Hux's face was slightly softened due to his nature. His hips flared out slightly, well hidden by his choice of clothing.

And that scent—it was possibly the sweetest thing Ren had smelled in years.

General Hux of the First Order was an unmated Omega.

It was the most ridiculous fanfare Ren had ever seen at galas. Strange Alphas and even bold Betas would try to chat up the man, hoping for something lasting to form.

“You look ridiculous.” Hux's cheeks were already flushed from the alcohol he'd been drinking. He never did know when to stop, a bad habit kept from Academy days.

Ren scowled. He felt ridiculous too, without his mask. The black, moody outfit, however, fit him splendidly, clinging to broad shoulders and narrow hips. “You're one to talk.”

Hux had been dressed like any other unmated Omega—a white military style shirt that showed off his narrow chest and pants that ballooned around his hips, making them appear wider and more ready for child-bearing.

Hux flushed a brighter red.

“Careful Ren,” he hissed.

Before Hux could say more, Ren interrupted. “There is an Admiral who is staring at you in a disgusting manner,” he said.

“I am aware.”

Ren dipped into Hux's mind: frustration, annoyance, and, behind it all, a small amount of fear. “General,” said Ren. “Would you give me the honor of this dance?” He bowed low, looking deep into Hux's forest green eyes.

A small smile appeared on Hux's face for just a moment. His hand, fingers so cold, reached out and took Ren's. “Gladly.”

The Admiral was distracted afterwards, easily finding a new unmated Omega that suited his fancy. Ren, leading Hux slowly, smirked. The Admiral did not recognize the Knight.

Ahaha! Anakin using his ghost talents to create grandson clickbait. I like how Hux just calls him "ghost" too, like it never even occurred to him to ask the guy's name, probably thinks of him as Grandpa Ren. Grandpa Mashed Potatoes Harassment Ren.

Fill: Kylo/Hux - Mermaid!Hux. Warning: Mermaid hypnosis

(Anonymous) 2016-03-27 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
Kylo sometimes dreams of a time when his name was Ben and he lived on a ship. He dream of the time before he had heard a merman's song and become 'Kylo'. He dreams of a strange woman, tiny and stern, and whose eyes are so dark and full of sadness. She says his old name with such emotion that it cuts to Kylo's soul to hear it, and begs him to return to her. Kylo wants to say that he does not know who she is but then he calls her 'mother' and knows that she is indeed his mother. She smiles sadly at him and holds her arms open to him. He feels a pull towards her, wants to let this tiny woman wrap him up in her embrace and never let him go. But then, there is a melody that begins to swell and the pull is now towards the sweet song and not his mother. Her smile fades as his attention turns to finding the source of the music.

The dream begins to fade and when Kylo opens his eyes, the merman who is the source of the music is hovering over him with a concerned and displeased expression on his face. A cool hand is toying with his hair and, coupled with the soft song that the merman - 'Hux' is the closest that Kylo can get to pronouncing his name properly - is humming, drives all thoughts of the woman from his mind. He reaches up with his right hand to lightly drag his nails over Hux's chest in the manner that normally makes Hux's eyes go dark with lust in an attempt to distract him and chase the frown from Hux's shapely lips.

Hux catches his hand and uses it to tug him towards the water that laps at Kylo's feet. His humming catching in small pauses at he awkwardly and clumsily maneuvers them from the shore and into the water, but the song never ceases entirely. Kylo follows obediently, crawling after Hux and chasing the melody that so enthralls his senses. He is pleased to see that the frown eases up once Hux is able to move freely again. He is even more pleased that Hux's attention fixes solely on him once they are in the water.

The song becomes louder as Hux flexes his long tail and darts around Kylo in a tight circle. If even possible, the song becomes that much more beautiful when Hux dives fully under the water. Kylo never ceases to be puzzled and amazed at how the water amplifies the song until it seems to pulse through Kylo's body and block out the rest of the world. It must be magic, he always thinks when he is returned to land once again and the humming quiets.

When he tries to dive down beneath the water after Hux he is caught and pushed back above the waves by Hux's mouth pressing against his. It had taken them a while to figure out how to kiss without Hux's sharp, jagged teeth cutting into the softness of Kylo's lips but they had managed and now Hux delights in the taste of Kylo's mouth as much as Kylo delights in the feeling of Hux's cool lips pressing into his.

Cool arms wrap around Kylo's waist and pull him tightly against Hux's smooth body. Kylo hooks one leg tightly around Hux's waist. His other leg treads water lazily and brushes against that smooth tail of Hux's as it sweeps side to side in slow and even flicks. Kylo barely notices himself hardening against Hux's belly, too overwhelmed by the melody that Hux hums to fully notice the reactions of his body.

He does begin to take note, however, when Hux's hands dip down to cup his hips and rock their bodies together. Hux's sharp nails dig into the soft flesh of Kylo's hips and thighs, drawing just a hint of blood. Kylo does not mind the prick of Hux's nails nor the sting of the salt water that washes over the wounds, so long as Hux's song does not stop.

Hux's humming softens for a few moments until Kylo begins to squirm against him and breaks the kiss in protest. Kylo's gaze fixes on Hux's eyes, and he feels a soft smile creep over his face to see that Hux's expression has softened to one of fondness. He much prefers this expression to the previous, scowl that had graced Hux's lovely face. With only a smirk as warning, the humming increases in volume, and his eyes flicker shut with the sudden jolt of pleasure that brings. When Hux begins to actually sing softly to him, a wave of euphoria courses through Kylo's body. He lets out a cry that trails off into a whine as his orgasm rushes through his body and his body gradually relaxes against Hux's.

Kylo is still riding the aftershocks of his climax and so he barely notices when Hux nuzzles at his neck for a brief moment before swimming him closer to shore. When he comes to his senses again, he is stretched out on his back partly on the shore, with the waves lapping at the base of his skull. His eyelids slowly open to see Hux once again hovering over him. It takes him a moment to notice that Hux's fingers are once again playing with his hair. At least this time, Hux's face is relaxed into a content expression that is mirrored by the softness of his humming. Kylo very much enjoys the soft smile that curls the corners of Hux's perfectly shaped lips upwards and hopes to never see another scowl on his face again. He opens his mouth to say as much but Hux's humming increases and Kylo's eyes slip shut as he drifts off to a sleep that is guarded jealously by Hux's humming.

He does not dream of the woman - his mother - again that night. Not with Hux keeping his thoughts ensnared upon the melody that emanates from Hux's throat and lips.

Re: FILL: Ghost in the Machine [13/?]

(Anonymous) 2016-03-27 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
I had another emergency at work to deal with so I haven't had a lot of time to write lately. Everything here shuts down on Easter though, so I figured I'd write a bit while I had the day off. If you celebrate it, have a good Easter!

Once Hux finished his paperwork, he headed down to the medical bay. He tried to tell himself it was just to check up on Mitaka, but he knew that wasn’t it. Kuyper pox wasn’t fatal, it was just annoying and itchy, (and extremely contagious in the early stages) and he’d never cared before to go check on an officer who had fallen ill. There really wasn’t any way around it- he was worried about Ben.

It didn’t make any sense. Once again, he found himself trying to rationalize his behavior- he’d found a man trapped in the bowels of his ship, in very poor health. Hadn’t the doctors even said that Ben would have died shortly if Hux hadn’t saved him? Wasn’t it just human nature to try to keep someone alive if you had the ability to help them? He was on Hux’s ship, so that made him Hux’s responsibility. And anyway, cleaning up after a suicide was messy and irritating, it would only upset the troops and harm officer morale. That was all there was to it- it wasn’t like Hux intended to marry the man! No, wanting to make sure everything was efficient and clean was all there was to it. Not to mention that Hux still hadn’t managed to get all the information from Ben that he thought the other man had. If he was telling the truth, and hadn’t just gone insane from his prolonged confinement, it seemed that there was more to Snoke than the rest of the First Order knew.

His mother had never trusted Snoke, either, and it certainly wasn’t out of any misplaced sense of sympathy for the New Republic or the Resistance. Moa Hux had gone to her grave hating those organizations so fiercely that sometimes it scared her son. But then again, she had lost most of her family in a Rebellion-led bombing run during the days of the Empire, and then lost her eyesight while she was pregnant with her son when the New Republic ordered a strike on the Imperial refugee camp she and her husband had been living in. If there was anyone who ever had the right to hate, it was his mother, but she’d never trusted Snoke and had often berated Brendol for his decision to ally the First Order with the man.

Of course, Brendol Hux never appreciated Moa second-guessing him, and Tarkin had always thought his mother was being foolish- if Snoke would be able to bring the First Order to the level that the Empire had been, then she had no right to complain about any of his methods. After one particularly nasty argument, Brendol had thrown her blindness back in her face- she was a burden anyway, what did it matter what her thoughts on the Supreme Leader were?

Tarkin Hux had always been terrified of his father, but that day, his mother had frightened him more than his father ever had. Moa had laughed bitterly, her sightless eyes somehow focusing directly on Brendol. “I don’t expect you to understand,” she’d said. “How could I? You are still trapped in your glory days, reliving all the prestige you had at the Academy, but you are no longer a student. We no longer live in the Empire, and there are no greater officials to protect you from yourself. Tell me, if this Snoke ordered you to kill yourself, would you do it? I have no delusions that you’d hesitate if he ordered my death, or Tarkin’s, but you always were far too in love with your own life-“

Brendol had then struck her hard enough that she’d crumpled, the only time Tarkin had ever seen his father physically harm his mother, and snarled in reiteration that she didn’t understand anything and never had, then left the room without looking back. Moa had simply lain in a heap on the ground, laughing that horrible, mirthless laugh, her face twisted in a joyless rictus, before groping around until she found a chair and pulled herself up.

“Someday you will become the leader of millions within the First Order,” she told him, slapping his hand away when he’d tried to help her. “Every day you will need to make difficult decisions, but you must also remember to keep in mind that there’s more at stake than simply ruling the galaxy. People like your father, and the Supreme Leader, they become idiots blindly searching for power. Remember that Darth Vader’s ultimate goal at the beginning was to keep his wife and children alive. There’s more to life than blowing up planets.” Then, she’d just laughed again. “But certainly feel free to blow up plenty of planets, especially if they’re New Republic planets!”

Not too long after that day, Tarkin had gone to the Academy. He only saw his mother a few more times after that, at the holiday breaks. As long as he’d been alive, Moa had never been in very good health, but it seemed like the minute he’d left for the Academy, her health took a drastic downward spiral- she’d contracted a strange disease that none of the doctors had been able to cure.

With a horrible, sick jolt, he remembered the symptoms of the illness that had killed his mother. At the very end, his father had said her eyes had rolled back in her head, she’d coughed once, and a flood of blood had poured from her mouth- much like the lung hemorrhages that Ben had experienced.

Ben had blamed the Supreme Leader for his condition. Hux’s mother had died from a similar condition. Ben claimed that the Supreme Leader was killing him slowly.

If it was the same illness, then Tarkin Hux was only able to reach one conclusion: Snoke had murdered his mother.

Increasing the speed of his steps, Hux hurried down to the medical bay and flung open the door, only to stop dead in his tracks.

There was only one patient in the infirmary, and it was Dopheld Mitaka. The other bed was completely empty, even the bedding having been stripped from it.
