But yep, both the Legends tab and the main canon tab for the Kessel Run on Wookieepedia explicitly say the Run is about shortest distance, not quickest time, in regards to parsecs.

Look, x-wings with their tiny cockpits and no supply storage are really not at all ideal for long haul space travel, which is why no one uses them for that. Anyway, it would be horrible if you went on this short recon flight and [insert improbable technical excuse] left you stranded, dead in space in an isolated sector away from your approved course with no way of contacting your base.

Even worse when, after you're eventually rescued and recover from the effects of prolonged panic attacks and your body rapidly breaking down, you discover you developed an outright phobia of getting into that cockpit again.
