Re: FILL: Ghost in the Machine [11/?]

I've started to post this up on AO3... but all new parts will be put here first. You can find it here: http://archiveofourown.org/works/6295426/chapters/14426950

No matter how hard he tried, Hux couldn’t focus on doing his work. He had what seemed like a mountain of paperwork to fill out- Lieutenant Parsons, the main engineer of the weapon, had done some more calculations and had determined that they were going to need another ten tons of cured concrete and another four tons of plastine for the weapon, and now Hux was going to have to figure out a way to get an order of that size from one of the Outer Rim worlds to Starkiller Base without running into a Resistance blockade. Obviously a crew from a First Order-affiliated planet wouldn’t be able to get through, but space pirates were a notoriously unreliable lot. Maybe he could get a neutral planet to cough up a crew? The government of Coo’sa still owed the First Order a favor from the time they’d helped capture and kill the masterminds behind a plot to assassinate the teenage son of the planet’s king. No, that wasn’t going to work- that same prince was attending school in the New Republic, and King Durlosu was quite a bit less friendly towards the First Order as a result.

Any other option that he was able to come up with had other problems with it. Other planets that might have been willing to help at one point or another had already been assimilated into the First Order, or had been taken over as satellite states of the Republic. And now that he thought about it, he couldn’t think of a suitable pirate crew that would have been willing to work with them- Bala-Tik had dropped out of communication a while ago, Maka Bakune and her crew had been executed for their crimes by the New Republic, Han Solo was part of the Resistance and obviously wouldn’t be willing to help the First Order, Ryoro Nagemic and his crew hadn’t been heard from for over two years and were presumed dead, and Beathri Diala had taken time off from piracy because she’d gotten pregnant. That… was pretty much all of the pirates he knew enough about to decide whether or not to trust them. It was a problem, really- there wasn’t a directory of pirates one could consult to do quasi-legal building material runs. And the only pirate world Hux knew of was Takodana, which was well-known to be controlled by a Resistance-sympathizer.

Maybe Phasma would know someone he could use- she did seem to know everyone.

Just as Hux was starting to debate the merits of just taking the Finalizer, loading it up with a bunch more guns, and towing the building materials along behind it, his communicator chirped. Really hoping that it wasn’t Lieutenant Parsons with more bad news about how much more stuff he was going to need to finish the weapon, he answered it.

“Tarkin Hux here.”

"Sir?” It was a woman’s voice, so at least that meant it wasn’t Parsons. “This is Kannanon Arkkriss, from the medical bay. If you have a moment, I need you to come down here. There’s something I need to discuss with you.”

Hux felt his stomach sink- there were only two people currently in the medical bay, and he was certain that nothing good would require him to go down there. Either Mitaka had something more serious than the Kuyper pox, or something had gone wrong with Ben. “What’s going on?”

“It would probably be best if I spoke to you in person, but your patient thinks he can feel something rattling around in his lungs. His theory is that the hemorrhage, ah, knocked something loose for lack of a better way to put it and that it needs to come out. He wants us to do an exploratory surgery on him to try to find it.”

“Can’t you do imaging to find it instead of just cutting him open?”

“Well, that’s the problem,” the doctor replied. “We did do imaging and didn’t see anything. But we also did the imaging before the hemorrhage and it wasn’t safe to move him to do more of it once he’d fallen unconscious.”

“Then do the imaging now!” Hux snapped. And this woman was supposed to be an elite doctor?

“He won’t let us, he’s demanding we just anesthetize him and take it out immediately or he’s going to take the scalpel to his own chest,” came the response. “We managed to calm him down long enough to get him to agree to wait until we heard what you had to say about it first, considering you were the one who wanted him to stay alive.”

“He wouldn’t be able to do it himself,” Hux said. “He’s the one who keeps yelling about how he can’t be the one to kill himself, that would probably extend to doing surgery on himself as well. Do the imaging and then if you see anything, do the surgery.”

“Sir,” came the deferential reply, before the comm link closed.

Hux pressed his fingers to his temples. Once again, he found himself wondering two things- one, why he cared so much about what happened to this one man, and two, why this man seemed so determined to put himself through more torment. Hadn’t he already had enough of that? If what he was saying was true, he would have suffered unavoidably for years at Snoke’s hands. And Hux was beginning to tire of being the only one in that medical bay with any sense at all.

Kylo Ren/Hux - Hux is flexible, Ren is done

(Anonymous) 2016-03-20 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
Based on this glorious tumblr post: http://viella-art.tumblr.com/post/141342620748/i-headcanon-that-hux-does-yoga-to-relieve-kylo

Kylo catches Hux doing yoga in the training room, in the middle of a pose which is obscene.

And no, this is not. okay! Ren is outraged.

How did Hux find out about his yoga fetish?

Kylux - Force Ghost Anakin - "Take your ginger bae and run"

(Anonymous) 2016-03-20 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
After years and years of trying, Kylo finally manages to get the ghost of his grandfather to talk to him...

Only it's not Vader that shows up, it's Anakin Skywalker. He is very disappoint.

He advises his grandson to 'Take your ginger bae and go home!' (maybe not those exact words)

what if he streamed it too? it's he hottest holonet weekly vlog right now, to the point that sometimes phasma has to make vague announcements at "team meetings" to remind everyone that resistance-made holovids, regardless of subject matter, are contraband on any First Order base and/or destroyer. "For kriff's sake, just go ask the med team."

(Anonymous) 2016-03-20 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
Dear Author, not only am I positively ecstatic about getting a second fill for this prompt, my hands are literally shaking while I'm writing this.

I loved everything about your story: the setting, the build-up, the characterization and, perhaps most amazingly, the hints of an actual, honest-to-god plot – all of which is way more than I was hoping for when I prompted for a basic pwp. Not to mention, your writing style is quite captivating and I'd be very interested in reading more of your stuff if you have an archive somewhere. (Pretty please?)

Also, you have won me over completely with you depiction of Kylo Ren. While 'the best pilot in the Resistance' remains my #1 crush in Star Wars universe, your Kylo was so lost and vulnerable and so surprisingly tender with Poe I was utterly charmed by him; his POV at the end really broke my heart into smithereens (in a best possible way).
Thank you SO much for sharing this awesome fic! :)

Seconding! That one of him doing the forward bend split while working on his datapad is the BEST. Like he doesn't even KNOW. Dammit Hux, scroll through your expense reports in a less sexy way! (no don't)

gen or hux/any, Hux gets court martialed, it doesn't work

(Anonymous) 2016-03-20 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
Hux is removed from command of the Finalizer after the Starkiller fiasco, and sent to a First Order core world to undergo a court martial. He isn't officially stripped of his rank but it's heavily implied he will be once his "review" is finished, or will be outright executed.

FO command send a new General (or try out several in succession) and they run things their own way. Maybe they are more harsh, or overcautious, lose more 'troopers, have a different style of leadership, don't hold the staff's opinions in the same regard, rearranged the crew to their liking, etc. There is a big dip in morale, both on the Finalizer itself and in the fleet at large as the tactics keep shifting and there is no clear vision. This is a crucial time of upheaval. The FO needs to capitalize on the Republic's disorder.

Eventually command throw up their hands and decide Hux is as good as it's gonna get, and send him back, thoroughly chastised and unaware of how things have been. He slinks back aboard knowing the least misstep will see him executed and expecting a huge power trip from his formerly loyal staff.

However the Finalizer is overwhelmingly relieved to have Hux back. Even Ren seems pleased. For all of three seconds.

+Kylo being annoyed he is taking so long and scoffing at the idea he is gone
+ignoring not-Hux
+Snoke being "??? where is the red one" because he doesn't really give a fuck about the Order's politicking and is an old man who hates to be inconvenienced

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Snoke sounds like my granddad who couldn't be arsed to remember that my uncle had divorced and remarried and was like "I thought you had black hair and glasses" every time he saw my uncle's new wife for like ten years.

Seconded.

unnngh kylo using his labels as leverage well done

Finn/Poe - dirty talking spanish Poe for reasons

(Anonymous) 2016-03-20 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
I don't care if it is canon or it is AU or it is whatever just please-- all of my things for spanish dirty talking Poe. Poe who can't ever stop talking, even in the middle of sex and Finn who (probably?) has no idea what the fuck he's saying but its good.

(+ my first born child & soul if you want to throw in some comeplay I'm just saying. )

Kylo Ren/Any, Bondage, Medical Kink

(Anonymous) 2016-03-20 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
When Kylo Ren becomes enraged- destroying expensive equipment and killing random stormtroopers- Hux (or Phasma) take it upon themselves to forcibly take him to his own special room in the medical bay. There, they lock Ren up in some type of full-body bondage contraption/bed until he calms down. Maybe sedating drugs have to be used as well if he's being particularly violent or resisting.

+ For degrading or humiliating talk towards Ren during this.
++ For Ren eventually calming down, falling asleep, etc.

Re: [Fill] Between the Here, Between the Now (1/2)

(Anonymous) 2016-03-20 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
Oh my god this is gorgeous! Hux's already super-rare pelt being an extra-super-rare red and able to fund an entire Academy was so good, like you can imagine he was supposed to feel proud of that, even if he didn't have a choice in the matter -- making sacrifices for the First Order and all.

Oh oh and Little Hux hiding in the bathroom because that's as close as he could get to the sea was heart-wrenching!

Re: Kylo/Hux, Zero Gravity

(Anonymous) 2016-03-20 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
SECONDING! I'm shocked I haven't seen this before actually!

Can't you just imagine outraged Hux, (who should be trying to fix this disaster) furiously zero-G-swimming after Kylo, (who is easily zooming around with the Force) cornering him somewhere near the ceiling and trying to floaty-kick him to death but oh no it turns into filthy grinding oh nooo oh geez oh well

Re: Poe/Any, Poe and Ben role reversal au

(Anonymous) 2016-03-20 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
You totally can if you want but as I said I'm completely fine if you want to go with Hux/Poe and Kylo/Finn or any other pairing :)

Crepitus (1/1)

(Anonymous) 2016-03-20 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
I hope this is sort of what you were looking for, anon.

...

1.

Here are several useful lessons Ren has learned, though too late as usual:

While bleeding from the nose, you must always tilt your head forward rather than backward. Blood running down into the throat leads, rather predictably, to vomiting, an unproductive activity when your meals are being so economically rationed. A grating, crackling sound from the chest always accompanies broken ribs. A single unresponsive pupil indicates hemorrhaging, or else a subdural hematoma in the brain. A rip in the sphincter muscle makes sitting for any length of time deeply impossible, so pacing is usually a better option.

And names are important, of course, which is why they took his away and left this breakable, vile body behind.

But this is just as well, Ren reasons to himself. Perhaps this is even for the better. He wasn’t doing anything worthwhile with either of them.

2.

Although it certainly would be a bit better, Ren must admit, if he could not read their thoughts, or feel their rage and their disgust and their pristine white apathy going through him like threads through the eye of a needle.

There may be a way to shut such things out, to be allowed at least some retreat into the final sanctuary of his own mind, but Ren never learned how to do it. That was a later lesson in his uncle’s training.

Or it would have been, rather.

So.

3.

As a child, his hair was in a near-permanent state of dishevelment. No comb could keep it in place, no trim seemed to tame it for more than a week. It grew like the briers of a summer thicket. He would arrive home with twigs and leaves all tangled up inside it, and then sit with a small, solemn patience while Leia removed each one.

This is usually what Ren is thinking of as Hux takes a great fistful of his hair by the roots and jerks his head back until their gazes meet.

Ren’s expression does not change.

“Quite astonishing, really,” Hux observes, still winded. There’s a thin sheen of sweat on his chest and pooled in the hollow of his throat. “Would that my soldiers were half so impassive. Tell me, what goes on inside that lauded mind of yours? What do you imagine?”

“Dying,” Ren answers, flatly.

“Oh, come now, that’s not terribly creative. You’ve already done that.” His voice raises, swings around, and he swings Ren’s head around as well until they are both facing the holorecorder. “Wouldn't you say so, General?”

4.

Despite burdensome evidence to the contrary – according to his father, anyhow – Ren is an excellent listener. He remembers every word they tell him.

Presented, as evidence:

“And do you know what happens then?” a captain asks. This is the one who enjoys tightening a rope around Ren’s throat, until his vision turns black at its edges, so he assumes these questions are more of a sportive rhetorical exercise. “I discover the whole munitions factory has been bombed. Who do you suppose was responsible for that? We – ”

“ – Lost an perfectly serviceable venator-class destroyer to one of your bitch mother’s squadrons today,” says a sergeant, although the flourishing way in which he wields the slender monochord whip bespeaks some prior experience in the Outer Rim’s slave pens. “It will take months to assess the total losses. I suppose my sole consolation has to be in the fact that she and everyone else realizes –”

“—What a twisted sense of humor the Supreme Leader has,” a major observes, readjusting his coat and belt while he turns to his companion. “There’s a word for that, isn’t there? People who, well, you know, with corpses? I can’t remember what letter it starts with, but with him it’s practically–”

5.

There is a recording device about the size of Ren’s thumbnail suspended from the ceiling of his containment cell. He stares at this often, whenever he reemerges from some memory of his former life and realizes that he is weeping.

(He would like a bath with real soap. He would like an apple, the crisp kind from Corellia. He would like to have his fingers properly splinted, although one would need to be re-broken first because it is already healing at a crooked angle. He would like to apologize.

All of these desires are equally impossible.)

Then he imagines how this must sound from the other end, his sobs and dry retching made faintly absurd when layered over with the pins-and-needles noise of static feedback, and usually this helps him to stop.

6.

Ren must look three times before he can be certain he is not imagining that girl there in the doorway, because she is clothed in the robes of a master and she carries his grandfather’s lightsaber in one hand.

Fifteen minutes ago – he’s kept count, one-two-three in time with his stuttering pulse – the bright, staring lights in his containment cell had gone out. The darkness carried sounds of shouting to him, the tramp of feet and the staccato of blaster-fire and the glass-thin scream of someone who sounded very much like his prison guard. The girl takes a step towards Ren and he flinches, so hard his head cracks against the wall he has backed himself up against.

He staggers once.

In three more business-like steps, the girl has let her saber drop with a sparking clatter and reached out to catch him while he falls. She braces her knees and does not fold beneath the sagging weight of his body. Her fingers curl hesitatingly against his back, so carefully that he almost does not feel them.

“Um,” she says. “Hello. My name is Rey. Your mother sent me here to rescue you. I was hoping I wouldn’t be too late – you’re Ben Solo, aren’t you?”

“Yes,” Ben answers. “I am.”

jedistormpilot - wearable toys

(Anonymous) 2016-03-20 05:22 am (UTC)(link)
As it says on the tin; thr lightside trio and every kind of wearable sextoy this universe can produce plz.
Perhaps Finn before he defected was in chastity?
Maybe Poe likes to stem up his flight simultations with a vibrating plug that distracts him?
Rumor has it that Rey finds balance far easier after coming a few times with a little bullet tucked in.
P much anything and everything along this theme plz and thank.
