But more seriously, this was a total blast. Kylo/Ben was perfect (and wow, a genuinely happy Kylo is something I didn't realize I needed), the sex was awesome, and the ending! Oh my god. ♥ Loved this fic.

I'm sorry for the wait and very sorry for a Hux-less thing to show for it. (Phasma outranks me and therefore outvoted me.) The next part depends on RL and the characters' cooperation. They keep wanting this fic to go into a more crack-ish direction than I'd planned. The title is from a kinda ridiculous RHCP song, so really it's my own damn fault.

Breathing in deeply and exhaling slowly, Kylo Ren's shoulders sagged lower as he shifted into his preferred meditation pose. He hadn't bothered to leave his bed, the sheets pooling haphazardly around his mostly bare body. He'd given himself a quick wipe-down and placed a fresh towel over his lap, but sweat still coated his skin and styled his hair into odd shapes. His physical needs fulfilled, Kylo focused on the strengthened thrum of energy coursing through him.

He could feel the Force dashing along every nerve, and he was strongly tempted to bask in it. He didn't know how post-coital afterglow felt for others, but he couldn't help believing it was nothing close to what it felt like for people like him. It was a rich heady feeling, one he could get drunk off of, one he could become addicted to--

No, Kylo needed to focus. That powerful energy didn't need to spread throughout his body like the blood in his veins--it needed to gather and condense in his spine, his brain, and finally settle in his mind. He was physically sated, and now he mentally needed to concentrate. He could almost feel his connection with the Force moving within him, like a lit fuse sparking along until...

Kylo sat very still, his muscular frame neither rigid or relaxed. His breathing was even. The room was quiet. His eyes were closed against the dim lighting, and he imagined pure darkness behind his lids. He didn't twitch at the feeling of sweat cooling on his skin, or beads of it leaving tracks that followed firm curves, or pools of it forming in dips and hollows. His hair didn't itch where it had fallen into his face after he had bowed his head. His hands didn't flex where they lay flat next to him, palms on the tangled sheets.

He gave it another minute, one that seemed to stretch impossibly long and only succeeded in growing his frustration.

"Damn it," Kylo hissed under his breath. He scrunched his eyes tightly before opening them with a sharp sigh.

It should have worked. Why didn't it work?

Kylo was running his hands through his hair and untangling it with a bit of roughness when he heard his private washroom door open. He blinked a little at the sudden flood of light. His eyes adjusted quickly; however, he tried not to grimace at the thrumming energy fading, as if the sensation he yearned for was being chased back into the shadows. It was always gone too soon, leaving behind a deep weariness--not to mention soreness and stickiness more often than not.

"It didn't work, did it, sir?" came a smooth feminine voice, the tone difficult to read even with Force sensitivity.

Kylo had to fight a noise escaping his throat, although he himself wasn't sure what kind of noise it would have been. He quickly reined in his emotions and sighed again, smoothing back loose dark locks and interlocking his fingers behind his stiff neck.

Glancing up, Kylo saw Captain Phasma toweling dry her short blonde hair and reaching for her trousers from the back of a chair. Her entire outfit was very much non-regulation, but it was functional as well as flattering. For a moment, Kylo wondered how often she got the chance to wear casual clothing, but then he shook his head--both to stop the thought and to answer her.

"I apologize, Captain, for taking up what little leisure time you have today," he said, suddenly aware of how parched his throat felt. His voice was more or less back to normal, at least.

Pausing with her body angled toward the bed, Phasma tilted her head slightly to the side as she pulled down her shirt.

"That isn't necessary. I would only accept an apology if you used a disappointing fraction of it," she said in that same tone, but this time with a quirk of her eyebrow. "Thank you, sir, by the way."

Kylo blinked again. Despite feeling sluggish and useless and dirty--he had finally noticed that terrible cold sweat--his skin prickled and warmed a little at Phasma's words and the long look she aimed at him. She wasn't subtle whatsoever as her gaze swept over every visible inch of him from where she stood.

"It was, ah..." He dropped his hands to his sides and resisted the urge to adjust his towel or pull the rumpled sheet around his waist. His tongue swiped over his dry lips and he started again. "It was the least I could do," he said, hoarseness creeping back into his voice, "to thank you for your assistance."

He couldn't be sure, with her turned away from the washroom light, but Kylo suspected something close to a smile gracing Phasma's features. Of course, right after that moment, he lost his view of her face as she sat on the edge of the bed. Once her boots were fastened and everything was in its proper place, Phasma stood and met Kylo's gaze. She was all business once again.

"Is there anything else you require of me, sir?"

The way Phasma could do that, like flipping a switch, never failed to make Kylo want to go a second round--which was precisely why their first rounds were rarities in the first place. Besides, he knew better than to throw a wrench into an officer's tight schedule, hers especially. He had seen enough over the years to know how much she valued punctuality.

"No, Captain, that is all. Thank you."

She nodded and replied, "Please notify me if I can be of service to you again, sir," before seeing herself out of Kylo's private quarters.

Stretching slowly and thoroughly, Kylo winced at a couple of joints popping in response. He finally got out of bed and stepped towards the light streaming from his washroom. Along the way, he rolled up his dirty laundry and pushed it down the proper chute, thankful that his position on the ship granted him spare bedding and towels without any questions or comments.

As he bathed on autopilot, he quickly became lost in thought. He would need a stronger connection--a more powerful energy source--to boost his Force sensitivity. Sighing, Kylo knew exactly what that meant; there was no point in denying it to himself. He'd never had to go that far before, to resort to that, and part of him had blindly hoped that he would never need to do it, either.

Although the Supreme Leader knew that he was making smooth and steady progress in his training, this task he had assigned Kylo was on another level entirely. Of the many disciplines of the Force, it also didn't help that it fell into a category that Kylo wasn't particularly...

Kylo sighed again, long and loud and with a hint of defeat. He didn't want to think about that. Right now, he needed a plan.

Clean and refreshed, Kylo later accessed the officer shift schedule from the Finalizer's central network. The general had one more hour on duty. From years of experience, Kylo knew that he typically stayed in his office until the next meal if the time between was too short to sleep. The only question was whether to catch Hux before dinner or before he retired to his private quarters.

Kylo gave himself two hours to plan contingencies, just in case.

Oh my gosh, this is just perfect! Exacting and deliberate Hux makes the perfect tea snob, and oh, those teas! I'm in love, and can't tell where the research ends and original worldbuilding begins! And the choice for Kylo's is just inspired - a sedative and a subtle prank all in one. ♥

Also, this fic reminds me I didn't get to have my cuppa today. How dare. XD

I'm gonna bookmark this and fill it later because I am a sucker for crack. Do you mind if I use a confused Finn/FN-2187 for this because Kylo would totally use someone low ranking enough his dark secret would never get out. Otherwise I can try to write an OC.
