Not too long ago, Poe had defected to the Resistance from the New Republic fleet because Leia had managed to convince him that the First Order was a serious threat that couldn't be ignored. And he absolutely believed that, in a general sense. But after a lifetime of confidence bordering on complacency and jokes about stormtroopers who couldn't hit the broad side of a Star Destroyer, it was a little hard to see that threat in concrete, personal terms. In short, it was still hard to swallow the fact that Finn could take him down in seconds in their now-regrettably-regular sparring sessions. Not to mention that everyone he knew apparently wanted to watch.

It started when Dr. Kalonia gave Finn permission to start training again, and the former stormtrooper asked Poe to show him around the training facilities. Finn had suggested, half-joking, that they try out the sparring room, but when Poe had assured him that he wouldn't do anything to hurt him while he was still recovering, Finn's smile had turned challenging. "Oh yeah? You think you can hurt me?" From there, things had escalated, and to Poe's eternal chagrin, Karé had been working out nearby and had immediately gone to tell the rest of Black Squadron about Poe's humbling defeat.

And of course Finn was incredibly nice about the whole thing, making sure he hadn't actually hurt Poe (he hadn't), reassuring him that he'd just started off on the wrong foot and he was sure Poe would totally beat him if they tried again sometime. And Poe, well, he had his pride. So he'd agreed to a rematch. In retrospect, that had been a tactical error.

After a couple of weeks Poe was probably in the best shape of his life just from trying to keep up with Finn. It wasn't like he'd ever been known for his hand-to-hand skills, but he was competent and should have been able to win at least once, by luck if nothing else. But Finn had this way of knowing every time just how to knock him off balance and get his legs out from under him. Every time Poe would come up swinging, and every time, Finn would put him on the floor again until he eventually, cursing and glaring, tapped out.

Technically there was no rule against spectators in the training facility, but the pilots of Black Squadron -- and Rey, and the General, and kriff, Poe must have done something to piss off the Force personally -- knew that Poe would shoo them away if they were caught gathering to watch his now-weekly exercise in failure. So they /lurked./ Never more than two of them at once, always behind a conveniently-placed pillar or stack of equipment, and when he caught them, usually carrying some kind of communicator or data pad with a camera function. Assholes.

At least Finn, bless his heart, didn't make fun of him. He might have raised an eyebrow the first few times Poe had asked for another go-round, asked "you sure?" with a hint of concern in his voice, but after that he'd seemed to understand, or at least accept, that Poe wasn't giving up any time soon. And according to Kalonia the exercise seemed to be good for his recovery.

So Poe couldn't even be slightly annoyed when over breakfast in the canteen, Finn flashed him that irresistible smile and said "So, training facility after this?" It was the first time Finn had suggested it instead of Poe crankily demanding a rematch, and in spite of himself, Poe found it... comforting. Kind of sweet.

Until Snap piped up, "I'll second that! I can never get enough of Poe getting his ass kicked," and everyone around them quickly agreed and the conversation turned to Favorite Poe Getting Beat Up Moments. Complete with communicators coming out to share highlights.

Finn met Poe's eyes across the table, still smiling but with a hint of an apology in his eyes. Poe shook his head and laughed as Pava showed off the holo-loop she'd made of him hitting the ground on his back. "Sure thing, buddy," he replied. "Sure thing."

This is totally off-topic, sorry: I just finished s2 of Galavant, and when I read this I imagined lonely Kylo being followed around by a unicorn and he hates/loves it.

I'm not saying poe gets around, but he certainly has no qualms about having slept with/currently banging the solo boys. Maybe ben turns to the resistance? Maybe he hears his former lover is currently in some kind of relationship with his father? I'd love to see some han-snark.

Oh lord the possibilities are endless. Kylo Ren as Patrick Jane. Rey and Phasma as Rizzoli and Isles. Finn telling Poe to "Book 'em, Danno!"

Everyone thinks they're secretly screwing because of how openly affectionate and playfully flirty they are together. But truth is, Finn and Rey have a long distance thing going on and Poe is happily single.

I can see this working as a "5 times people thought they were dating and one time it was clear they weren't" type of story, but anything even loosely inspired by the prompt would be great!

I have this tiny obsession with Poe being the one totally in love with Finn and agonizing over how wonderful and attractive Finn is, and I'd Love to see a situation where Finn picks up on Poe's Big ol crush and is baffled by it because he doesn't actually feel the same way? At least he thinks he doesn't. He had a crush on Rey once and kinda figured he was straight but he never actually thought about it? Actually now that he considers it it doesn't sound so bad, and Poe is definitely attractive in a objective kind of way, and he already loves him so would it really be so bad to try with Poe?

Tl;dr Poe's Utterly in Love with Finn, Finn doesn't magically already feel the same way, but he isn't adverse to trying for a relationship anyway, and over time eventually falls in love with Poe.

+1000 Finn wondering how their friendship will change and finds out it's not so different except more kissing and proximity

Ahhh, I love this trope.

Hux meets his boyfriends Parents [for whatever reason how their paths cross is up to you]. Kylo notices Hux is immediately tense. Hux tells Kylo that his father is menancing.

But the truth Hux is terrified of General Leia Organa and doesn't want to admit it because Leia is a tiny harmless looking old woman who is pretty much half his size and would be embarassed by it.

++ Han makes a snark comment of "Don't worry I am scared of her sometimes too"
+++ Leia gives Hux the Shovel Talk at some point and that's why Hux is scared.

Just think of Poe laying on his back, with Ben hunched over him. Like a capital D on it's back.
