Poe works at a café that Hux frequents. Hux is pessimistic, rude, unsmiling. Poe is the opposite and makes it his personal mission to be as obnoxiously upbeat as possible (it's not exactly a big change from his usual self) just to annoy Hux. Hux hates him, but Poe makes a good coffee so he doesn't rise to Poe's teasing.

One night Poe is mugged and beaten by a gang who turn out to be Hux's friends (Phasma and Kylo or modern version of stormtroopers lol). The next day at the shop, he's less chipper than usual and Hux notices his black eye/bruised face, and hates himself for wondering/being concerned.

Hux comes back with his friends during Poe's shift, and there's an awkward meeting between them and Poe when they recognise each other from the mugging. Leading to Hux picking a side but to everyone's surprise, he picks the side of his hatefully optimistic barista.
