Leia's supposed to be about as strong as Luke but it's always sort of brushed off as she couldn't or didn't want to train as a Jedi.
That said, both the rebellion and the resistance caught an uncommon amount of breaks...people coincidently in the right place at the right time, last ditch shots hitting just right, shields holding just long enough, haphazard tactics that managed to work, etc. Somebody give me a universe where Leia is the deus ex machina, using the Force to hold the light side together in a thousand little ways. Maybe it starts out as unconscious but by tfa she's doing it deliberately even though Luke and Han are sort of oblivious. And she's always used the other force users/sensitives on the light side to balance her out, amplify what she's doing.
Only she can't use Luke when he's on his guilt trip and after the push to knock out Starkiller and hold the remaining alliance and resistance together, she's about tapped out. Angst and fluff pls?
Leia, Luke, ensemble, gen. They've never been that lucky
