(Finn/Poe or Finn/Any or gen) AU, Finn defecting from First Order after multiple/long deployments

Okay so if you guys have watched Legend of Korra, do you remember how Bolin wholeheartedly believed in Kuvira's reign of order until he actually started meeting people and realizing they were oppressed and miserable?

So what if Finn (FN-2187) was being deployed to regular order-keeping missions instead of something immediately violent enough to make him defect? What if he was sent on guard duty and saw people terrified of him, resentful, even though at first everything looked peaceful?

What if slowly, over time, he finally got the sense that the First Order's ideals (which he believed in wholeheartedly, how could he not?) were more harmful than helpful?

And finally, it came to a head when he saw some people who were about to be killed/were killed for something small, and he abandoned his post and defected?

I'm good with any ship that you like, but I am leaning towards Finn/Poe in this one--maybe Finn encounters Poe on one of the planets he's stationed on and helps him escape somehow, or Poe's on a recon mission there and observes the kindly Stormtrooper who was specifically keeping order and not abusing the people.

+1000 Finn GENUINELY WHOLEHEARTEDLY thinking the First Order is perfect and slowly having his image shattered
+1000 switcharound w/Poe helping Finn escape once he does something against other soldiers
+10000 Finn getting used to civs before they can get off-planet
+10000000 interactions between Poe and Finn before defection (Poe pretending to be a citizen)
