The Resistance is a plucky little independent coffee shop that gets all its fair-trade, bird-friendly, farmer-direct, environmentally safe beans from local independent roaster, The Republic (of Coffee).

Then Starbucks Starkiller Coffee, run by The First Order, mega-coffee chain, performs a hostile takeover of The Republic (and dozens of little roasting companies in the area), and dissolves the company, cutting off the bean supply for the Republic. They then open a Starkiller Coffee outlet right next to the little Resistance coffee shop.
