Poe is part of a species which is almost identical to human, except they do the alpha/beta/omega secondary genders as well. Finn is human.
When Finn and Poe first got together, Poe had explain the differences between their species, and they talked about the various genders in Poe’s species (there’s basically 6 – alpha female, beta female, omega female, alpha male, beta male, omega male – and it’s all down to if they can carry and/or sire offspring. Some can do both), but because Poe was on suppressors, it didn’t mean all that much to Finn.
While on a mission that takes longer than expected, Poe runs out of his suppressors and when he gets back he has just started a heat period.
Now Poe has to fend off the various alphas from his species around the base, who keep offering to help him out (he makes it clear to them ‘that no thanks, in a relationship!’), and considering Poe and Finn are known to be in a relationship, Finn thinks this is quite rude of them. And Finn wants to figure out if there is any way he can help Poe.
I’d love it if Finn does figure out ways to be compatible and to help ease Poe though his heat. Which he could be smug about due to all the alpha’s looking down on him thinking he cant do anything, he’s only a human. But really, whether or not he actually can is up to the author.
