Okay! I just know that the ordination of women has been a big issue in the Church for decades and it's one of the things you're not supposed to be allowed to change, but also the Catholic Church has a lot of the most interesting imagery and cultural capital to put into a dramatic story. Whereas the Episcopalian church does allow the ordination of women and has for some time, but it doesn't have the same kind of drama as the Catholic Church. I can see Rey being brought up Catholic and then converting to Episcopalian so she can follow her calling of being a priest, though.
